  1. if that was a more suitable slot though, it would make sense. UEFA moved the CL final from Wednesday night to Saturday?
  2. it baffles me why this isn't played on a Saturday? Surely the global reach of it would be much enhanced if it was on a Saturday? Is it just tradition that keeps it on the Sunday?
  3. Boulter out. Battled bravely in that last game but not enough unfortunately
  4. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but it is incredible
  5. Where do you fancy your stag do mate? Berlin, Prague, Amsterdam or Sunderland?
  6. It's been dying for a while now. With Canada, Australia, South Africa etc all withdrawing from hosting recently, there doesn't seem to be any viable host apart from the UK and there doesn't seem to be any appetite here to host it. We're only 2.5 years out from the 2026 games so there really isn't much time. If the CG does survive, I can't see the 2026 edition happening. Maybe they can find a host for 2030 (Singapore, Malaysia?) but unfortunately I think it has had it's day.
  7. Mk dons was such a strange atmosphere for me, the sheer amount of little kids that were there made it more like a school trip than a match. They didn’t have to be up the next day and I also heard alot of comments from people next to me “first away game etc” Yeah I was one of them - took my kids to their first away match exactly for the reasons you mention. They loved it. But MK Dons in the League Cup was never likely to be the most pulsating atmosphere anyhow
  8. Mark Deep Freeze against Spurs in the FA Cup (mid 2000's ish?)
  9. Any realistic chance of this making it to STH with 505 points? When do they go on sale?
  10. it's crap for those attending the match. But good for the rest of us!
  11. I'm really late to the party on this [which is not a bad thing as I now have 4 series to binge] but wow. For All Mankind is incredible, really enjoying it so far. For those who haven't heard of it (as I hadn't until a few days ago), it is a sci fi series set in an alternative reality where the Russians beat the Americans to the Moon in 1969 and it then picks up the timeline from there.
  12. I still do stuff on the hob too - once I realised I missed the therapeautic action of stirring a curry/spag bol etc (even though I can do these in the AF)
  13. The term air fryer is a bit misleading. It is a small (and therefore, more efficient - in theory) oven. Ideal for lots of meals. I've done roasted veg, salmon, steak, chicken spag bol etc in mine. Very quick for nuggets, fish fingers, chips etc for the kids
  14. get a meat thermometer. Helps take the guesswork out. And don't be fooled by the term "air fryer" - it is simply a small convection oven, usually with different settings for temperature and fan speed.
  15. FIFA been falling over themselves to line this up. Australia doing the sensible thing and pulling out before wasting millions on a bid they can't win.
  16. don't they proof read anything before sending out?
  17. by giving a few matches to South America and Africa, FIFA are simply getting their ducks in a row for Saudi Arabia 2034

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare_Earth_hypothesis If anyone has a spare few minutes this is a good read - the "Rare Earth Hypothesis" which sets out some reasons why complex life in the universe may be exceptionally rare due to a series of very rare conditions and fortunate circumstances that lead to advanced life on Earth. There are also some credible counter arguments to REH but it's very interesting stuff either way. Summary of Rare Earth Hypothesis as a solution to the Fermi Paradox: The Rare Earth hypothesis argues that the evolution of biological complexity anywhere in the universe requires the coincidence of a large number of fortuitous circumstances, including, among others, a galactic habitable zone; a central star and planetary system having the requisite character (i.e. a circumstellar habitable zone); a terrestrial planet of the right mass; the advantage of one or more gas giant guardians like Jupiter and possibly a large natural satellite to shield the planet from frequent impact events; conditions needed to ensure the planet has a magnetosphere and plate tectonics; a chemistry similar to that present in the Earth's lithosphere, atmosphere, and oceans; the influence of periodic "evolutionary pumps" such as massive glaciations and bolide impacts; and whatever factors may have led to the emergence of eukaryotic cells, sexual reproduction, and the Cambrian explosion of animal, plant, and fungi phyla. The evolution of human beings and of human intelligence may have required yet further specific events and circumstances, all of which are extremely unlikely to have happened were it not for the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago removing dinosaurs as the dominant terrestrial vertebrates. In order for a small rocky planet to support complex life, Ward and Brownlee argue, the values of several variables must fall within narrow ranges. The universe is so vast that it might still contain many Earth-like planets, but if such planets exist, they are likely to be separated from each other by many thousands of light-years. Such distances may preclude communication among any intelligent species that may evolve on such planets, which would solve the Fermi paradox: "If extraterrestrial aliens are common, why aren't they obvious?"
  19. I think this is (mercifully) the case. I believe in the case of a large fire in a confined location (like a crashed vehicle) the fire consumes the oxygen very rapidly causing loss of consciousness. Let's hope so anyway...
  20. https://foxestrust.co.uk/foxes-trust-board 14 board members, I think according to their website
  21. Plot Twist : OP is Lewie Coyle.... (had to look him up)
  22. Indeed. Although we are mostly unconcerned with her feelings, there's not much in it for her to appear and hear the impact statement is there. Although the families won't get their "moment" , I'm sure she will be aware of the content of the statements as her lawyers would have seen them in advance.
  23. Definitely wrong. I understand she can get a couple of years added to her sentence for refusing to appear, but I guess if you're going down for life anyway, then it doesn't make any difference. She's in the holding cells at the court. Surely they could just whack a TV on the wall in there so at the very least she's stuck in a room with a guard and at TV showing the hearing?
  24. The 3rd place play off should be binned in World Cups. No one wants it. After several weeks and suffering semi final heartbreak the last thing any players need is to pick themselves up for a game no one cares about. They probably just want to go home, or on holiday and forget about it.
