I guess if you'd done what she did then you know there's always a chance the police are going to come knocking one day.

Women's World Cup 2023 - Australia/New Zealand

I think Weigman will move on only when she's good and ready. She's turned down opportunities before which on paper were "bigger" jobs. She's contracted until 2025 and I don't think she'll jump ship before then (hopefully) -
due to be sentenced on Monday. I would be astonished if it is anything other than a Whole Life tarriff

quite tough to listen to the details. But it seems colleagues had concerns and raised these to the hospital trust but they were ignored. Imagine having your baby die in hospital and having to deal with all the associated grief and then being told a few years later that they had been killed by a nurse whose job it was to look after them.
-
absolutely. And of course now the trial is over, there's more details coming out. Quite distressing to listen to. She refused to appear in court to hear the verdicts too

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-66180606 Summary Nurse Lucy Letby has been found guilty of murdering seven babies who were being looked after on a neo-natal ward The murders happened at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016 Letby is the UK's most prolific killer of babies in modern times She has also been found guilty of attempting to murder another six babies The jury was undecided on the attempted murder of a further four babies The 33-year-old, originally from Hereford, denied all 22 charges against her - blaming the deaths on hospital hygiene and staffing levels

I guess so. I suppose we don't know what goes on behind peoples front doors in any walk of life most of the time. It is also worth noting that he has no official charges against him (although I understand that is because the alleged victim withdrew their complaint against him) But yes, the audio of him is pretty damning (and he hasn't denied that it is him on the recordings) and I suppose why people are upset at the thought of him returning to play for the club and being an icon to kids. My youngest son who was 11 at the time asked me about the clip of Greenwood and I tried to educate him of how disgusting Greenwood's behavior was, and how no one should ever behave that way to their girlfriends (or whoever) so it would be pretty difficult to accept that he could just go back to playing like nothing happened. United should bin him out and if any other club decides to take a chance on him, then that's up to them. The only way back as I see it would be for him to undergo some serious rehabilitation / education to show how sorry he is (and actually mean it and prove it) - but he doesn't seem to be the sort of individual who could do this
-
It would be nice to see a few more high profile supporters come out and say the same as Riley has. Especially if some of the men decided to stick up for what is right too...
-
I don't think Rachel Riley is the bad guy here. There are lots of people who support Manchester United and the other mega clubs from all over the place.
-
Fair play to her. I would feel exactly the same if our club was going to welcome an absolute shithead like Greenwood back into the fold. Any supporter with a shred of decency and integrity would feel the same.

Women's World Cup 2023 - Australia/New Zealand

Despite the odd contrary voice it is actually quite refreshing to hear so many people backing the women's game in general. Not only in this thread, but generally I have encountered suprisingly little of the sexist rhetoric around this tournament. Not saying it's not there, but it feels like a lot of progress is being made, even if there is some way to go still. -
can we just take a moment to appreciate @kushiro and the wonderful content and stories that they create. Absolutely superb

The whole "this lower league mens team would thrash the Lionesses" is so tiresome. It's hard to respond to idiotic views like this - on the one hand, it is entirely probable that a lower league professional mens team would soundly beat the best women's team but it is irrelevant since they aren't competing with each other. Take the elite female athletes in any sport and they're not going to beat their male counterparts. So the achievements of Serena Williams, Shelly Ann Fraser Price, Jessica Ennis, Lindsay Vonn (just a few of the top of my head) are ignored because they aren't as "good" as the men? Ridiculous. Also, it is quite possible to like mens and womens football - you don't have to pick a side. I'll say one thing for this England team - they have bags of personality, professionalism, humility and they articulate themselves in such a great way - makes a refreshing change from Harry Kane saying "yeah, no obviously I'm pleased/disappointed (*delete as appropriate) -

The Sydney Morning Herald makes for some good reading: The cold, hard truth is the Lionesses were the better side. Stronger on the ball and in the tackle, they had a plan and executed it to perfection. Sarina Wiegman picked apart Tony Gustavsson’s blueprint - and while Kerr helped spark something resembling an answer, her teammates had nothing left to give. -

I bet it is amazing there. Dare I say that maybe this is the first time ever that an Australian football team has ever had a tilt at winning something and everyone is jumping aboard. I really, really hope England can do it though -

A bit tense at the time but looking back I think we had the game under control. On we go. I will be absolutely thrilled if we win the World Cup. In fact, if I had to choose between England winning this World Cup OR Leicester winning the Championship, I'd take the Lionesses win. There, I said it -

Not heard anything yet about an extended ban for Lauren James? You'd have thought they would have made a decision by now? -
Thanks. looks pretty good. Going to the National Football Museum in the morning and was looking for an afternoon activity - this ticks the box I think!

anyone got any tips on viewing areas at Manchester Airport? Going to be in Manchester with the kids for a couple of days later this month and plane spotting is always a fairly well received activity, but not sure if there is good viewing at MCR?
