To play devil's advocate a little, I'm not sure getting rid of FPTP actually achieves what most people would want it to. Do we actually need to look at restoring the primacy of the constituency and draw power away from Westminster, so that people feel more interested in their local constituent and not the national makeup? A PR system would turn it into a national free-for-all.

Cause it doesn’t really matter, the one across the pond is the one that matters and you can’t vote in that one.

It’s the other way round for me, the only reason the Premier League can sustain so many “big clubs”, APART from them having rigged things in their own favour, is because the English game in general is so strong. You put those six teams in a league together and let them play each other every week, no one watches that shite. Look around Europe - Spain, you’ve got two big clubs, maybe three with Atleti. Germany you’ve really only got one economic powerhouse, Dortmund keep up because their youth setup and recruitment is so good, I doubt Leverkusen will compete in the long-term. Italy - it’s really only Inter and Juventus, even your AC Milans and Fiorentinas can’t keep up. Esteemed clubs around the rest of Europe can’t keep up. Destroy England’s football league pyramid and you destroy the Premier League hegemony. I’m not sure a European Super League sustains interest the way they think it would.

I understand the sentiment but we’re going into the season with no manager, likely having to sell players and with probably a 9 point deduction. Not to mention the general black cloud hanging over the club. You have to play the hand you’re dealt.

I’m sorry to sound defeatist but I think it’s pointless spending big money to try and stay up this season. I think we need to focus on careful recruitment of players with the mental strength and character to withstand a difficult season, make progress despite it and stick around to kick on next season which will almost certainly be in the Championship. There’s absolutely no logic in taking on more financial risk chasing survival, we need to use the PL money to clear the decks and go into next season with no risk of further financial jeopardy.
