Akgun gives us really good cover in two positions. Works really hard too. Great signing.

That's because Rodgers was to blame for everything, and the players don't need to take any responsibility for the past two years..apparently. They are now all world beaters, if you haven't realised!
-
Hmmm. Not sure about that one.
-
Hopefully we play a strong team. Liverpool will press well regardless of who they start so it'll be a great test for us.

So a January transfer window signing, essentially. Club just getting the business done very early! Very forward thinking nowadays.

I know the subject of Barnes and his sale has been done to death, but this seems like the appropriate thread to chat about the 'what ifs'! How many goals would he have so far this year playing Mavididi's role?! I like Stephy and feel like he has huge potential, but it feels like he's had so many opportunities in those positions that you absolutely KNEW Barnes would score from. We saw Barnes' finishing improve significantly whilst he was here - If Stephy can follow the same path we'd have a hell of a player as I feel there are elements to his game that are better than Barnes now - Just nowhere close when it comes to finishing...yet.
-
Didn't the club actually come out and say they had offered him one though? I may have misremembered that to be honest!

(Without jinxing anything) ...it looks like we might be going up. I can't remember the specifics on the Akgun and Fatawu loans, but don't we HAVE to sign them if we get promoted? Honestly think we need to move on from the players out of contract as well. A lot of them have been here a while I'm sure Man City will ask the earth for Doyle and isn't Casadei very highly rated by Chelsea? Not sure those two will be joining. Next Summer will require a lot of work regardless of whether we get promoted or not I think.

Yeah, great post as usual He was awful in the Cov game, as he had been for two years. Wanting to see him moved on was a more than fair opinion. It’s been painful watching him. He’s doing well now though, which is fantastic to see and long may it continue.

I’ve really enjoyed the last three games. Feel like we are starting to hit our stride and play with confidence. Thought we were fortunate in the first 4 games and the performances were pretty poor, but we are improving rapidly now. Only won by one goal today, but the gap in quality was huge from where I was sitting.
-
That’s a shame. Thought the change was a bit strange as he was having a good game. They weren’t really threatening so couldn’t see it being tactical. Hopefully it’s not too serious.

Some of our recent transfer activity

Do we really want to be offering extensions to most of those players though? Iheanacho, Ndidi, Vestergaard, Hamza, Albrighton, Praet and Vardy are probably best off leaving if we want to move forward. Either their best days are behind them or they are players that struggle playing at a higher level. Add the four loans and that’s 11 players there. I know we can make a couple of the loans permanent straight away but as things stand now we don’t know if that’s something we’d want to do. I’m not being all doom and gloom anyway - No reason why we can’t recruit well. If there’s one thing Enzo has shown so far, it’s that he’s pretty ruthless - I doubt there will be much sentiment for players that have done well at this level if we do go up. -

We’ll need to spunk money like Forest and Villa did, unfortunately. With loans leaving and players contracts running down, we’ll be in another mess. Mads and Winks are more than capable at a higher level, but I think the rest who are likely to stay are very much lower level PL standard, at best. Obviously that doesn’t include Cannon. -
Was having a look at the BC forum and came across this little titbit; "Living near Leicester I now know quite a few fans, and some members of their fitness/coaching staff. Reports are that Enzo was a bit shocked at some aspects of the off the pitch culture - a two night bender during their preseason tour in Thailand for the owner's birthday caused some friction apparently, but now the season has started I hear that he's happy." Yes - I'm aware it could be total BS.
-
Probably best not to hang onto players who are obviously running their contract down. Not saying Nacho won't improve and come good, it's just not good practise in general.

Championship Team of the Week - 23/24 Edition

Strange. I thought Faes looked the shakiest of our defenders last night. Looked a bit leggy as well. Shows how people see games differently I suppose. -
VAR would definitely have been drawing lines - It was tight.
-
Same. The difference in standard is absolutely massive.
-
The very definition of ‘wildcard’ isn’t he. I never know what’s coming next. Great fun.
-
Thought the only negative if you had to pick one was Casadei. …and no I’m not writing him off in any way, I just thought he was the only one who looked quite a bit off the pace tonight.
-
Did OK in possession. Was really impressed with his work rate out of it - You can tell he’s desperate to do well here. I have a feeling he’s going to be a good player for us this season.
-
Just an absolutely phenomenal signing.
-
I know we haven’t created loads of big chances but I really enjoyed that. Our work rate was so impressive. I’m a massive fan of Mads, what a player.
-
Never know what’s coming with his team selections do you

I think the key is time. He had lots of time to play that pass to Kasey on Friday which made it significantly easier. When things are tight and quick in the middle and you are under pressure and/or off balance, even the short lay-offs become difficult. Only the really technical make that look easy on a consistent basis - KDH isn't really in that bracket. Winks is much better at it, but you notice he comes unstuck occasionally when he's under real pressure.
