  1. I think we have a follow the crowd fanbase which makes things tougher. I know we mock the people moaning about the Tifos blocking the view but the old, tired Kop contributes in the majority to them. If we had a standing section and the club encouraged the fans in there to create a racket I do believe they would. The atmosphere is bland and flat most of the time but in the past 18 months we have had two winning goals against Wolves and Birmingham that produced incredible noise. Look how well received the away end at Preston was. Yes, the fans could do more but if the club won't try and accommodate situations then it will make it harder to achieve. Are Norwich and Southampton more passionate fanbases than us? Clubs with seriously better communication? Not at all but they have got ends behind the goal dedicated to safe standing and vocal support. Put safe standing in, create an end, encourage backing and I think we'll improve.
  2. Thanks. Whole thing looks like a TalkSport phone in topic.
  3. Gary Neville will be saying that "ManchestUnideFootballClub need to win these types of matches" and I hope they don't!
  4. What is that even based on? They seem to have forgotten Derby too.
  5. Best thing about the stadium is the location. To be able to do the same walk up as before shouldn't be taken for granted. In response to an earlier post about the intimidating atmosphere of the Filbert St Kop, that is a contributing factor to the current situation. I recall many programme notes bemoaning the behaviour of the fans in there and no doubt influenced the decision to put the Family Stand next to the away supporters when we moved. I'm sure the demographic of the fan base has changed a lot, too.
  6. Two years ago he looked done at this level. 13 games before he scored. 4 already and looks reasonably sharp. Will get injured at some point but create chances and he is likely to be there.
  7. Resembled Maddison at his worst last night. Still been comfortably the best signing so far.
  8. Goodison Park makes the King Power look positive and lively.
  9. Looking at his first season in this league, he beat Liverpool, Arsenal and Brighton at home, drew with Man City and beat the bottom three. Can you see us getting 10 points at home from European qualifiers? Two of our relegation rivals don't visit until May in Southampton and Ipswich. We are going to have to improve performances hugely. The stats aren't good and our run of games from Chelsea to the New Year is daunting in the extreme.
  10. West Ham defensively last season were appalling. Moyes isn't a terrible choice but we won't be significantly better at the back. We need someone who can get our attack going more than anything.
  11. Wolves should appoint Cooper as punishment for The Bear ruining this thread.
  12. We don't bat long enough. Too interested in scoring rates instead of batting time. It is ok whacking the West Indies or Bangadesh attack around at Edgbaston but playing in Asia is almost a different sport. I know we scored 800 two weeks ago but generally the batting has been well below par.
  13. I liked the team selection but it also showed if it goes wrong there is little behind it to change things. Bringing Soumare on was ridiculous. If Eduoard cannot get on when needing two goals what is the point of him being there? Squad isn't great but some odd decisions taking place.
  14. Last year it was quiet because it was too easy. Now it is quiet because we are struggling. The whole place is flat and stale. The fans could do more but why would they? Take your folded card and you are contributing. Agreed on the songbook. I thought our "banter" chants were shit but the club related stuff pretty decent. Now even that has declined.
  15. Wolves at home under Dean Smith. Spent £20 million on a midfielder and bring on a bloke who should have gone years ago instead.
  16. Badly needs dropping. Lost all confidence.
  17. Saw last night a team that had upgraded it's manager and one that hasn't. Has to win next week before the run of matches after.
  18. Just dire. The defending was just abysmal, organisation all over the place, attack barely functioned. Next week is pivotal; lose it and we are bang in trouble. We are too easy to play against for long periods.
  19. No club of a similar size has ever bothered with it. They lasted about 5 years too long, were taken away, nobody was upset yet here we are nearly a decade on trying to pretend they make a positive impact.
  20. Munch on my Chocolate Covered Crispy Coconut Rolls, Stick em in ya mouth and munch em.
  21. Isn't this criticising them for decisions made when much younger?
  22. Roy Cropper will increase our numbers rapidly over the next few months.
  23. Is Paul Angrave related to Harry Angrave, a legendary fan from 20-odd years ago? Think he was the oldest season ticket holder in the country or something at one point.
