If we sell Winks, we can kiss goodbye to promotion as our midfield options are dire. It is as simple as that. Get us promoted and he can leave on a free at the end of the season - financially that far outweighs a possible 5 million at this stage. Soumare, Faes, BCR, Vesterguard, Okoli are our priority sells atm in that order.

For me, it is not about ability. I want to see a team that want to play for our shirt - it's been too long since that last happened. It is his general aura and attitude that stinks - he thinks he is much bigger than the club.

When I talk about the basics, I start with the number of misplaced passes that put the team under pressure. I want my defenders to do the basics correctly, something that he is incapable of.

Watched him last season too. I've said previously, he made similar mistakes first half at Brighton, but scored the equaliser and people easily forgot about all the basic mistakes from the first half.

The audacity to think he can play in the Italian national team. He isn't even good enough to make our starting line up.

If I remember correctly, he started the season well and then he had an injury over Christmas and struggled to win his place back. Did we ever play him in his natural position? I only remember him as an LCB in a three, but covering full back at the same time? I don't think he is worth the price mentioned IMO

A few million short, but unfortunately only West Ham showed any serious interest. I'd rather accept a lower fee and have 20 days left in the market to get a CM, ST, rather than play hardball and lose time and possibly, interest in the player.

Gut tells me that this is agent talk to test the waters for a new contract. Why would a Premier League team sign a player who made so many mistakes last season?

No problem with the rumoured terms offered to get a player of his quality in our midfield. He offers so much that our team currently lacks at this level. He does the job for a few seasons, worst case scenario leaves on a free when he is 33 years old and we get a player in his prime years. If we get rid of Coady, Faes/Vesterguard, Soumare, Ndidi etc.. who I'd imagine have similar wages, I would not mind spending some of the savings on a good player in a position we lack.

I'm sure the club was waiting for confidence that they would get the right fee for Mads before bringing in another goalkeeping option.
