Pearson loved getting experienced players in. Seems to be knocked now. It's all about the right balance I guess but it seems to me Martin is trying to get the squad balance right like Pearson used too.

We need another striker but so far it's been a good window considering the players (money) we have got rid of too.

We started buying rubbish players and in the end that catches up with you. Nobody was moaning when Newcastle were allowed to spend lots of money on players. Nobody made them pay £25m for Chris Wood, just like nobody made us pay £20m+ for Daka. The league is tailored for the top 4/top 6 clubs but it always has been. Alex Ferguson was spending £30m on players in the early 00's, no other club was doing that at that time. I think FFP and all these restrictions are terrible but I also think managers and players should look at themselves too. Newcastle under achieved massively last season. For me, a manager as good as Emerey would have had Newcastle top 4/top 6 last season regardless.

I don't think winning the EFL Trophy got their fans re-interested as I'm sure they got relegated the season they won the trophy and attendances dropped more. That I'm not surprised about as they were a complete mess, much worse than our mess, and moved out of the City. They got bought out which helped them but I think Robins was a key part of getting fans back on side, probably similar to Pearson here. Can't disagree about the trip to Wembley, mind.

Mahrez at 60m and Kante at 30m (granted the latter was a release clause) is still a disgrace. Both players were worth much more.

I'm looking forward to it. Only been to Meadow Lane once before and that was the friendly the other year. It's first game of the season and it's a local game, everyone should be up for it.

We needed a striker, got one. He will get enough goals at that level I’m sure.

You mean what Nigel Pearson brought us. Without him we'd probably just be in the position we are now under King Power

Lack of striker is our issue. Last time at this level, while the team was a mix of youth and experience as it will be next season, we had two good goalscorers which we don't currently have.

Tickets arrived today. What a quick experience this was, had no clue about them going on sale until I saw this thread on Monday.

I guess a reason is because of all the FFP stuff now but loads of players seem to be at a club for one season now and then off. Lots of big money moves for players that don't justify it.

I have never supported King Power. I also don’t support some of these Middle Eastern owners.

Just said in the other thread but very sad. He seemed a great guy. Likeable. In terms of playing, way before my time but clearly one of the best this country has produced.

Really sad, Keegan. Always seemed like a great bloke. Before my time as a player but probably goes down as one of the best ever for our Country.
