Previously they have spent a lot on rubbish and I have alluded to that in the past on here. This past season they have improved on bringing players through. All in all though, they won 90 points last season. The top three were miles ahead of the rest. The play offs make the season entertaining but teams two teams on 100 points then one (Sheffield United) on 90 points should have all gone up. I assume 90 points and not going up is one of the all time biggest point tally's without earning promotion.

Agree. Although when Puel was sacked we were 12th. He never had us near the bottom three. The season he was sacked though we were awful though in terms of always conceding first and that always being early on.

What a backwards move from Sheffield United. Not saying Wilder is great but they just finished on 90 points. That is enough for automatic promotion usually. I can't see Sellas getting them anywhere near that.
-
Now you say it I think you might be right and Premier League usually after

The real cold months are horrific though. Those months where you have to wear a hat and gloves.

He was World Class for a period. In three consecutive seasons he scored 20, 18, 23. Then 15 (twice) after that and not forgetting the 24 when we won the league. Mental record. I doubt we will ever see a striker score that many top flight goals for us, or if we will it will be a long time. Before Vardy our last greatest top flight goalscorer must have been Smith or Lineker. I'm glad he stayed, and especially played 500 games for us, but he could/should have gone elsewhere really and won everything similar to Mahrez.

They're always a week after the Premier League.

No wonder people say they get bored of it, or say it's not like how it used to be. Tbh I feel the same. These months are supposed to be a couple months break without football. Not to sound like a modern day manager but players play too much now. And Sky Sports promoting "more games" for next season. I couldn't imagine sitting in front of TV watching two or three games back to back.

I like him for getting us out of a mess, as I do believe we'd have gone down under Shakespeare, but he could never quite push us on. Despite the fact the quality we had. He stabilised us but we needed a manager like Rodgers to just win us something. I'll never have a bad word about Puel though. He never had us anywhere near a relegation battle.

Villa v Newcastle opening game again. Man Utd v Arsenal

You're probably aware but Oasis released Time Flies on Friday. I missed out on RSD so was pleased with that. I managed to get it at the weekend from my local record store. Amazing money spinner from Oasis there

Our best seasons came after Vichai's death. Finishing top 6 twice, winning the Community Shield and FA Cup. It's staggering we did that. All after he died. Also remember we all want Rudkin out yet it was Vichai who put him in that role. There's a lot to argue on both sides for me. Vichai wasn't amazing. In the end he was lucky that Pearson actually wanted to come back.

A very large percentage of the fanbase love him and that will not change.

I wouldn't want to compress all my hours into 4 days, seems far to much just to have an extra day off.

I'm not a massive fan of him. He's been a success throughout his career mainly but something about him just makes me not want him here. Mental that he is on the verge of the sack though, having finished on 90 points last season. They were better than the other three teams that finished top 6.

Did I dream posting in a Sam Greenwood thread yesterday

Didn't he score that free kick against us other year when we lost at Middlesbrough. I'd be disappointed if we end up with him.

Proper ground.

EFL trophy isn't pointless. It's a nice thing for smaller teams to try and get to Wembley and win a trophy. When you think Sunderland, Bolton, Coventry and Portsmouth have all won it within the last 10 years it's clear the bigger clubs take it serious too. Birmingham got to the final this season as well. The under 23 teams should not be in it, it needs to revert back to how it was. The smaller teams have more a chance of getting to Wembley in this competition than they would the League Cup. It's very rare a non top flight teams gets to the final of the League Cup (I know Cardiff and Bradford both did in more recent times but that's now over a decade ago).

LCFC - Family Night Football memories/photos?

I mean, the photos on page one have Fred Flintstone and Bart Simpson. Imagine them turning up to the ground now, people would be moaning. -
If they're as good as the ex Forest pair that won us two league cups then I'm sure we'll be happy....
-
Yeah but he's "highly rated".

Sheffield United spent millions on rubbish players under Wilder. I'm sure they bought Brewster for about £25m
