He’s become an expert in neat flicks and touches in Ruud’s team but his actual contribution is reducing and not enough to play him as the sole creative outlet in this side. It’s a crazy idea from RVN anyway that one creative player could carry a team loaded with 7 defensive minded players and 2 out and out finishers who have minimal contribution to general play (one of which in Daka might as well be playing for the opposition.) ELK needs other players to play off. If RVN is going to persist with this 3 at the back, Buonanotte should always start as the second ‘striker’ or failing him Mavididi. If Ricardo isn’t fit then play a wing back who dares go forward in Coulibaly. We’ll still lose but ffs we might actually score a goal and ELK’s neat flicks and touches might have some end product.

On a night where despite having no recognised Man U winger on his side, JJ barely went forward in his wingback role. Instead choosing the easy backward pass the vast majority of the time. It would’ve been a perfect opportunity to bring on Coulibaly who’s clearly better going forward and running with the ball than JJ.

I actually miss the heady old days when Daka had fans on here like Finnegan who’d argue with our 50p boots/trampoline touch comments - throwing stats back us that he was actually statistically our best striker, despite what we could see with our eyes. He doesn’t even get this back-up these days…

Not seen anything actually on the pitch at least in a Leicester shirt that suggests Skipp is any better than Winks even when the latter isn’t utilised as the single pivot. In his last few games before being dropped out of the squad completely, Skipp has hidden from the ball or wall passed it as soon as the ball comes to him. A catastrophic signing.

Ok I see but even then Skipp has not shown any ability to be an effective deep lying midfielder. Not really a ball player, not overly mobile or able to take a ball on the half turn and no great shakes defensively. It’s a bit of a mystery where he can actually fit. He’s just not good enough to replace Soumare or Winks even when considering their lack of form!

The grand announcement of this build followed by the silence reflects the increasing malaise of the club under King Power. The lack of respect shown to the fans through non communication is part of this malaise. I’m not having that it’s because they are private individuals, when things are tough it take some balls to to front up and be honest with people and to not do that shows a lack of respect and a lack of bottle. Yes we are seen increasingly as customers rather than fans that can be squeezed for every last penny but ironically the club even fail here - if we were more engaged with by the club, if we were treated with respect from a communication perspective (particularly during tough times) then most of us would be happier and understanding and ultimately more likely to spend the money they want us to!

If he makes just one change I would love it to be Buonanotte as the second striker instead of Daka but it’s just not going to happen. If not Buonanotte then Mavididi. Someone who can create something for themselves or Vardy out of nothing. Daka can’t do that.

Skipp in a 2 man central midfield

Skipp hasn’t demonstrated that this season. He’s literally had one good half when he played ironically as a more forward number 8 away at Palace, other than that he’s looked way off it. Soumare might be playing badly but that doesn’t make Skipp better. Other than Winks as an alternative we’d be better off moving El Khanouss deeper or play Ricardo out of position if Soumare is dropped.

Could Mads have got across quicker for the gosl? It was in the corner but it wasn’t hit with lots of pace and it was quite a way out for a grass cutter.

Mavididi (or Buonanotte) would offer an alternative to either Daka or Vardy as the second striker as there’s little point playing both Vardy and Daka as they are the same player (Vardy being the better option obvs.) Both are finishers. Neither are dribblers or can hold the ball up brilliantly (Vardy better.) Winks because he works well with Ricardo and is more likely to pass forwards than Bouba.

Some nice play but not enough creativity as predicted. Chelsea weren’t great. Enzo celebrating like they’ve won the World Cup shows you how happy he was to scrape a win. Tweak the back 5 set up next time. Same middle centre back group. Bring in Ricardo, Winks, and Either Mavididi or Buonanotte to create more offensively.

Very confused with the positive comments on here about today’s set up. We have ONE creative player in the first 11.Two out and out finishers who don’t create and who need service and then 7 other outfield players who are in there as stoppers. Chelsea simply need to take ELK out of the game and then we’ll have to resort to trying to sling it long over the top in the brief moments we have possession.

Managed to make a team that can’t create even less creative. How he still can’t find a way to fit Mavididi and Buonanotte into his side is really quite remarkable. This set up is entirely reliant on El Khanouss as the one creative player in the team and based on his performance against WHAM, he’s now playing with minimal confidence too!

Feeling pretty positive tbh. Chelsea’s Premier League form in the last 10 games has been less than impressive - won 3, drew 2, lost 5. Palmer’s goals and assists have completely dried up. Enzo’s popularity with the fans has dipped markedly with questions over his team selections and style of play. The fans have also staged a significant protest against the owners. They will also be tired after playing in Europe on Thursday night. Based on this I think we’ll do ok - If we significantly improve our work rate compared to the West Ham match, I’m predicting a tight 5-0 win for Chelsea with goal shy Palmer scoring no more than 3. Come on you foxes! 🦊

He’s a good lad is Wright. Looked good in his last preseason for the 1st team and was then sold. Could do with his effort and guile now.
