I agree that Ward shouldn’t have been used. But in Ruud’s defence JS actually wasn’t available for the bench v Newcastle so Ward was almost impossible not to pick there. Once he’d had 45 minutes, and JS wasn’t fully fit it would be a strange and high risk decision for RVN to de-select Ward. Ultimately he had the guy with the number 1 shirt, £12m player, in his prime years, or a young lad that’s not fully fit to choose from. It’s not hard to see why he chose Ward. (Although I am absolutely with you that he shouldn’t have)!

The change of direction and burst of pace are unfortunately down to the injuries. I still think he’s better under RVN, he was hung out to dry in the stupid system Cooper had

We are definitely doomed without a great transfer window… But for me there’s clear improvement under RVN, despite the injuries. We’re way better organised defensively, we also attack on both sides -
I think I’d have to include a loan keeper in that £50m!! Ward simply cannot play otherwise any plan fails
-
What a relief!!!

Possibly… not sure he wouldn’t still have the odd brain fart that leaves us exposed though. It’s actually quite likely that he does get a game there though, JJ can’t play every game at the intensity he’s expected to and there’s no other cover. (At a rubbish level I was a CB, and sometimes covered at RB…. I always enjoyed it and thought how easy it was there!!!)
-
Still say I’d like to see him played in front of the back four… with cover he’d win a lot of the ball, and the times he misjudges he wouldn’t be giving away a goal. He’a actually tidy with the ball and can dribble (for a CB). Worth a 30 minute experiment as a Soumare replacement one game I think

He’s elite, and wouldn’t be with us if we got relegated. Whilst not quite as good Jakub is a really good keeper. So if £50m in Jan meant all of it spent on 3 permanent and 2 loans for a striker, a CB, RB, CAM, and winger, I’d cash in now and wish him well

It made little impact to the result but for me the ref had comedic periods where Liverpool could do almost anything and he’d wave his arms and tell our player to get up!!! Bordering on farcical at times… thankfully not the whole game -

Ndidi Fatawu Vardy Mads Ricardo All out. Playing the team effectively 10points clear at the top at Xmas. Matching them for the first half. And you haven’t seen an improvement? Just what were you expecting??- 209 replies

The way that Ruud spoke to him as he came off - asking if he felt ok etc, seemed to suggest that it was due to fitness management -

I’m pretty sure they’d have loved to have attacked more… but almost every player looked knackered out by the constant need to defend. We played a way better side than us. No shame in our performance today, if we play like this against the lower half teams we’ll pick up points -

I’ll pin my colours to the mast here. I’ve seen enough of Ruud to back him, come what may this season. I genuinely think he’s our best chance of staying up, and if we don’t I back him to get us promoted. The club is sinking, but that’s down to Top running a business as a hobby, and wanting everyone to like him…. Not the manager -

Sorry, but that’s a ridiculous take. There was a very clear plan, and like it or not, it was the one that stood the most chance of working given the difference in quality. -

I’d normally agree - but I think if we’d have shown more ambition they’d have buried us. I get it that we should play to win, but I thought we had a decent game plan of hitting them on the break (we just haven’t got the personelle to go head to head) -

Yep …. It’s terrible for football. We are weaker than we were at the point of promotion, because of some stupid rules theoretically aimed at protecting us!!! (I know, they’re not) -

A lot of really harsh criticism on here today. They’re running away with the league, get loads of help from referees, and we have our 3 best players missing. Plenty of effort, some tidy football in the first half. Ultimately quality told, but we can hold our heads high and build on that performance. For the first time I had the feeling as in the great escape - we are good enough, we just need a good January window and a pinch of luck. (why we are here and long term plans etc all put aside FWIW)- 209 replies

Harsh to criticise him tonight, he put in a real shift and I thought had some positive impact on our play

Superb. Well played lads

DW1 TIT DO 1 WARD FOAD DANNY JUST NEVER PLAY FOR LEICESTER AGAIN YOU USELES TW@T DANNY Sorry. Forgot the question once I’d thought of DW
-
My only hope is that he was a Cooper signing and not our scouting team. If not we’re doomed.
-
“…. and I’ll never play him again”
-
Agree entirely. Ward is a symptom of the disease … at least the fan base is starting to recognise there’s something wrong
