Assuming he comes in and goes with his preferred 433 the biggest area for him to address will be goals from midfield. You’d guess Winks will come back into the fold in the deep lying slot. Then of our current options there’s not many goals in Skipp, Ndidi or Bouba compared to say KDH last time we were down. Hopefully (but not optimistic) Bilal will stay and guess he may adapt Kasey to play in here. Still with Daka/Ayew being our main striking options it’s goals we appear to be lacking so can see the attraction of Brownhill.

Just sent a strongly worded email to O’Neills on Loseby Lane expressing my disgust at the prospect of them managing our club in addition to a moderately priced and fairly pleasant Irish themed pub. Balls in their court.

Kind of my point. He ticks no boxes other than cheap and right agent. Absolutely nothing on his CV suggests he’s got what it takes to get a club promoted and both clubs improved significantly when he left.

Sounds good. 352 is a simple transition from a squad who are set up for 4231 so there won’t be any need for an overhaul with the £0 we have available.

Even the thought that an interview process is needed feels slightly weird. Everything you need to know to make a decision is widely available; their style of play, how they develop players, their win ratio, in-game management, media profile, transfer record, integration of youth. Who cares if they’re good in PowerPoint and can describe what they’d do. Sure you need a “chemistry” meeting to finalise the decision but it doesn’t feel like that’s what we’re doing.

You know it’s getting bad when Steve Cooper looks like a decent option!

Blows my mind that clubs will pay big fees for a player then try and scrimp on a manager. A good manager can turn a £10m player into a £20m one and a bad manager the opposite. Probably the most important person at a club so if I were an owner it’s the one area I’d pay what I could for the best person available.

I’ve got no problem with Dyche per se, and what he does can be very effective. Unfortunately what he does is almost the polar opposite from the squad we have so it just doesn’t seem like a good fit. Even more so if we’re skint and won’t be able to bring many in.
