Conspiracy theory - is everyone now on a big bonus to stay up?

I've seen plenty of posts on here this season questioning the players character. See the 'Are we too nice as a team' thread as an example

By character I don't mean how nice they are, I mean their integrity and seeming lack of money-grabbing-ness.

Nothing much has changed. We've played reasonably well in general since Spurs at home. We got a bit of luck against West Ham that we had been missing before and fortunately WBA were shilo in the 2nd half on Saturday.

Monsell is correct. All performance based bonuses must be declared at the start of a season.

Good to know. Thanks for the clarification Monsell.

I am not 100% convinced the OP understands the concept of conspiracy

A bit patronising fella - I was just asking a question!

This 'theory' has been dismissed anyway by Monsells point that all bonuses must be declared at the start of the season.

I, like Lineker, was just curious about what has suddenly changed for us to win two on the spin.

No chance.

Most of these players are playing for their careers, how many of these would ever play in the top flight again if we get relegated.

If that's not a motivating factor what is?

A bit harsh on our players' characters, one thing which hasn't really been in doubt this season on the whole.

I disagree, we've certainly put in an extra 10% against the 'bigger' teams.

If you think we have been putting in 10% extra recently, perhaps it's got more to do with the fact we've brought the likes of Vardy and De Laet back and are without the likes of Simpson and Upson?

They're fighting for survival, not a paycheck - just make that clear, Pearson hasn't established a team driven by money; sure some will be but that's not the case.

The management / owners would have been very foolish not to implement a cut/bonus in the new contracts they handed out - it's more than likely a '15% ish' wage cut if relegated back to the Championship. Can't say the figure, but I imagine there's clauses in the majority of the 1st teams contract.

Winning vs West Ham / West Brom isn't down to an extra 10%, we've managed to hold on to the 'win' or grab the 'win' holding on to the momentum. These were winnable games and all we needed was a bit of luck and 'fine margins' to go our way to win. Nothing's "changed" for us except having the right formation / right line-up and using IMO the right substitutions at the right time. Everything else is down to taking your opportunities and hoping the opposition don't take all of theirs.

in nearly every game this season you could point to a couple of things where had they not happened / happened slightly differently, we would have drawn or won rather than losing.

In the last 2 games, there were a couple of chances missed by the opposition which lead to us not losing as an example.  Vardy's winner @ Brom could easily drifted a couple of inches wider and it hits the post etc.

I think we are playing with less fear (nothing to lose) and it's helped us play more freely and with a bit more confidence which can come across as the guys giving an extra 10% but in reality the fine margins went our way versus West Ham. The confidence that gave us helped turn the tight Brom game into another win and may just help us turn tight games into wins 3 or 4 more times before the season ends.

No conspiracies!

I just wondered who was conspiring with whom in your original hypothesis.....

I think you're reading into this a bit too much. It's not football manager and what would essentially be a few extra quid to those players isn't likely to be the determining factor in results.

It's not Football Manager and a lot of things will be down to luck, good or bad.

Pearson seems to have been a bit more proactive since Hull. That was a bit of a low point and since then we've been far more aggressive from the start and scored 8 times in 3 games.

Given that I'm sure all of the players wages would be reduced in the championship and a survival bonus if we stay up money is not a factor in the recent wins.

West ham and west brom were victories but they could easily have been draws. Fine lines and all that. Let's hope we are the right side of those fine lines 3 or 4 more times this season

Id pay all the players a tenner each if we stay up, I have $5,000 riding on it!!!

If we stay up, it will be the best feeling in my time as a leicester fan.

We deserve to stay up, regardless of what all you lot think.

Tactically Pearson has got it right (most of the time) Individual errors have cost us a lot of points and refs have cost us at the very least 6 points.

The only game I've watched where I've thought Pearson got it completely wrong was against Hull. Other than that, we have played decent football and deserve to stay in the premiership.

Hull, QPR and Sunderland should go down. Burnley have exceeded expectations by even still being in contention. We have underachieved by still having something to play for at this stage.

Ofcourse, that's just my opinion.

There's an article by John Percy in today's Telegraph about this. Apparently the squad will share £5 million if they stay up with each earning around £278,000 - nice work if you can get it.

Don't bonuses have to be laid out before the season begins? I'm pretty sure it's against the premier league rules to alter bonuses now.

Edit I just read that it has been discussed already.
