ousefox Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 How has it cost us anything really, I thought it was exploitation? Who's being paid for it? The companies in the public-private partnerships...
Strokes Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Another victory for the haters Amazing isn't it? It's almost like some people want these people on benefits, so they can feel good by thowing them a bone every so often.
Strokes Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 The companies in the public-private partnerships... Subsidies/incentives not cash?
Webbo Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Don't you just slap paint on walls and make sure the wallpaper is the right way up, hardly needs much supervising?
Guest Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I think you did say that yours isn't a skilled job the other day.
Sir Fynwy Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Go on then, tell me how difficult it is, my best mate is a contractor who does bespoke decorating with high end developers and taking on labourers doesn't stress him out at al.

Sir Fynwy Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 I don't do labouring, I decorate. But if you took on a workfair trainee he or she would labour, tesco don't make workfair 'trainees' managers you know.
Webbo Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 But if you took on a workfair trainee he or she would labour, tesco don't make workfair 'trainees' managers you know. The work I do to the standard I work to couldn't be done by a labourer without supervision. By the time I've shown them what to do it'd be quicker to do it myself.

Where does he get these labourers from? Are they all new with no experience or does he, use the same ones that he can trust to do the job?

I'm sure you are a true artisan but if the government offered you a free helper to hold the ladders, stir the paint and mix the paste I'm sure you wouldn't complain, even if it was costing the rest of us.

If it was for 2 or 3 years where they could learn something and be useful. If they had the right attitude then maybe. 4 weeks no thanks, waste of time.
Buce Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 If it was for 2 or 3 years where they could learn something and be useful. If they had the right attitude then maybe. 4 weeks no thanks, waste of time. So, it would be a waste of everybody's time? How, then, do you justify your support for workfare?
Webbo Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 So, it would be a waste of everybody's time? How, then, do you justify your support for workfare? It'd be a waste of my time, it'd cost me more than it earned me. For the employee I could give them a reference saying they turned up on time in a presentable state and had a good attitude to work, always assuming that they did. I suspect for big firms like Tesco they wouldn't make much out of it either. They wouldn't do it if it was costing them a fortune either I accept that and maybe in some cases it's giving prospective employees a 4 week trial on the cheap. I certainly don't think they should be condemned for helping people.
Guest Posted 4 September 2015 Posted 4 September 2015 Lots of money pouring in for Yvette Cooper she's now 4/1
Claridge Posted 5 September 2015 Posted 5 September 2015 Lots of money pouring in for Yvette Cooper she's now 4/1 She agreed to marry Ed Balls, enough said about her judgement
Guest MattP Posted 5 September 2015 Posted 5 September 2015 Finally got around to seeing this, if Cooper had performed like that throughout this contest she would have stood a huge chance of winning. Made absolute mincemeat of Corbyn and his Alice in Wonderland politics.

Made absolute mincemeat of Corbyn and his Alice in Wonderland politics. She's a seriously underrated politician. Unfortunately, her campaign has been lacklustre enough for her to have remained so until the refugee crisis and her utter savaging of Corbyn.
Rincewind Posted 5 September 2015 Posted 5 September 2015 There is a good article on Vince Cable in the Guardian. On my phone so cannot post the link. May merit a thread on its own.

Rincewind Posted 5 September 2015 Posted 5 September 2015 Don't know. I will try when I get home if I can find it again. New thread or here? I know its not leadership related but Corbyn is mentioned. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/sep/05/vince-cable-historically-coalition-will-be-seen-as-success?CMP=fb_gu Done it

Made absolute mincemeat of Corbyn and his Alice in Wonderland politics. She is Labours best hope of winning the election I think. As alluded to by others she's ran a poor campaign though. She's a very good commons performer and a sharp politician - shame she played second fiddle to hubby Balls over years. Didn't stand last time as that numpty did.Anyhow I'm in for change now and on the Comrade Corbyn bandwagon.
Guest Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 I really don't like her. seems rather slimy and two faced. If she can lead Labour to victory over the conservatives it shouldn't be too difficult.

If she can lead Labour to victory over the conservatives it shouldn't be too difficult. The idea that labour can win the next election with any of the four is laughable. Two tainted with Browns pathetic rule, one who seems nice but has no chance and a 1970s socialist idiot.
