Guest Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Basically if you want out you're a thick racist? Good to hear a coherent argument for remain. As a general rule I agree.
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Cameron now claiming the triple lock on pensions under threat. A guy who six months ago said Britain would be fine outside the EU now resorting to this, sad and pathetic. The panic from remain and this Tory government is going to reach level of hysteria by the time this is over.

Then we all pay - we'll become Great Britain, then England and Wales before Just England within a generation. Final nail in the empire's coffin.

Then we all pay - we'll become Great Britain, then England and Wales before Just England within a generation. Final nail in the empire's coffin. The empire has long gone. We have enough trouble looking after our own population without pretending we can take responsibility for other nations. And there's ample opportunity for trade and positive dialogue/co-operation/joint projects/etc with the people and nations of the world without an empire and including through Commonwealth channels. And we don't need the EU to direct our choices.
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 How on earth did we ever manage to become Great Britain without the amazing European Union?

Mmmmm john mann a racist.. who would of thunk it...

bovril Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 How on earth did we ever manage to become Great Britain without the amazing European Union? We never became Great Britain. It's a geographical expression that was used to distinguish between the larger island, the smaller one (now Ireland) and Brittany.
johnny the fox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 It's a survey asking the public what they think the facts are about EU. I have absolutely no idea how you got that rant out of that Well it comes across as totally patronising...the "public" are wrong about nearly everything...bollocks.. who pays for these polls.?. I wonder..
Jimothy Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Well it comes across as totally patronising...the "public" are wrong about nearly everything...bollocks.. who pays for these polls.?. I wonder.. Its a survey asking the public to state facts about something, which most of them got wrong. Not sure how you can complain, or call it patronising, it is what it is. Now if it's the fact you're backing a leave campaign that plays on these ignorances and half truths, that's your problem, not the surveys.
bovril Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 I was being facetious Bov ;-) Thought so. Difficult to judge facetiousness online. Though you do see a lot of people writing "let's put the Great back in Great Britain".
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 You do. Those sorts are just as bad. I was reading through this thread last night and we've conducted a better standard of debate than the two campaigns. There have been some super posts for both sides of the argument.

Surveys and who pays for them and these polls matters..because they usually get the outcome they paid for... its good business for the poll companies... you do.remember the last general election don't you?
Rincewind Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 That may be because there are no strong arguments either way or they are about the same. There are MP's from all parties on both sides. On this they are not toeing the party line. You are not left or right wing according to the way you vote despite labels being put out.

I'm not sure the report knew some of the figures itself, any stats I've seen towards contributions has the uk above Italy in contributions for 2015 @ 12.5%. I'll check it later but it was only a few days ago I looked.https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/483344/EU_finances_2015_final_web_09122015.pdf Found it. Pie chart on page 17.

"run their own country" thanks for the laugh.
Dodgy Bob Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Cameron now claiming the triple lock on pensions under threat. A guy who six months ago said Britain would be fine outside the EU now resorting to this, sad and pathetic. The panic from remain and this Tory government is going to reach level of hysteria by the time this is over. The state pension already has a fragile future as you know. If Cameron thinks that the economy will suffer if we leave then it's perfectly fair and logical for him to point out how that might affect people living here and pensions are one of those areas that might be affected. The way you criticise everything Cameron says, it's like you don't think he should be allowed to say anything in this debate at all. But when Gove talks bollocks about being able to "help the steel industry" if we leave you think that's OK? As if only politicians who want to leave should be allowed to speak.
Rincewind Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 If Cameron wants to do anything with pensions he will do it whether we are in or out. More scaremongering. Maybe he has one eye on a Euro job (not England manage although even he could not do a worse job than Hodgson) There has been talk about changes to pensions before. Hasn't done because of the votes of older people. This way he will have something to blame it on. It is indeed perfectly logical for him to speak about pensions being affected if his arse is on the line.

I don't support him either by the way.. The laugh is you...you would rather let a bunch of EU bureaucrats run this country because you haven't got the guts and the confidence to let the british people run it.. now that is a laugh..

bovril Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Just one question about this whole debate I haven't seen asked nor answered. Who do you think these "EU bureaucrats" are? 10% of MEP's are British, for a start.
