Carboot Sales

Is there much of a scene any more in and around Leicester? I'm guessing with the internet as it is, eBay is the go-to place now but I reckon I could shift a fair few games/dvds and other odd bits at a proper carboot sale and it's a bit of fun organising it all and whatnot, so wouldn't mind having a go at it.

Not been in 15 years but I believe it's the biggest in the county.

Saddington, Croft, Quorn, Saffron Road, LFE (or just past it, can't remember what it's called exactly), but there quite a few and regular too. Just don't expect to make a killing on selling your old DVDs and games - carbooters are vicious!

On my trips over I always go to Melton Mowbray and quorn car boots on a sunday morning. Great for picking up English books at a cheap price.

I took part last year and got shot of a load of old games and other stuff I had no idea people would buy. People come from all over the country and it's really busy

Croft is absolutely gigantic; unfortunately it's more quantity over quality. It's a great morning walk on a nice day (and if you do the whole thing it's a massive walk) but the last few times I've come back empty handed as there's so much tat these days, the rise of online selling, I assume, is the reason why.

 

Melton Mowbray is really nice too, like others have said. There's actual variety and it's a lot less packed than Croft is.

Or melton. Which is good for when it rains as you get a cattle pen. Meaning a barn roof over your head.

Don't park on the road outside at quorn you WILL get ticketed. They must make a killing each Sunday

Quorn is usually rubbish, they are all selling the same shit for the same price. Croft is decent though.

Croft every time, especially when the weather gets good/bank holidays. True that it may be quantity over quality, but if you get down there early enough, you can usually get some quality finds.
