what were you trying to imply by first laughing, and then saying all their defenders were rubbish? that their defence was rubbish? cos it's not so stop looking like an idiot

Why react to someone who does this? If he is willing to treat what you say with contempt by use of an emoji, he's not going to understand your objection to it either.

It's a total waste of time taking these people on - they slow you down to their speed and then beat you with experience.

However, you have my sympathy.

Erm, quote me where I said their defenders were rubbish and that their defence was rubbish and I'll agree with you. All I pointed out was Smalling is the only top quality defender which would be the only one who would qualify for the saying " strikers win games, defenders win leagues". Daley Blind doesn't apply to that nor does Darmian nor does Rojo .etc.

so their defence is good they're two points off top spot and they keep winning. so they could win the league?

one way or another you're going to look like a tart here mate so probs best to quit while you're behind

They could win the league, we could win the league, if we're basing things on "could" as the big "gotcha" against me, then what even is the point in disputing anything. I'm simply saying they won't, their squad isn't strong enough compared to the likes of City and dare I say Arsenal. I'm taking a stance, oh my imagine that.

so why did you try and mock akcj's post saying united could win the league if anything "could" happen? that's made you look a bit silly hasn't it, like i said

Sure.

Lmao, have you seen their defenders?

This quite obviously means their defenders are dreadful, there's no other meaning to infer from it.

because in their current state they look anything but a league winning team, I'm not entirely sure how this is so hard to understand. Anything could happen, but my stance is so far the opposite way as to what he suggested I found it amusing. If this comes back to bite me if United win the league then I'll take it fair game, or when they do predictably finish 3rd then my initial reaction to laugh it off is almost justified.

It quite obviously doesn't, you're not taking into context the original comment I was replying too. He's talking about defenders who win you leagues, I'm saying the other options bar Smalling are laughable in that type of analogy. I'm not saying the likes of Darmian are shit in terms of ability, I'm saying their shit in terms of being a defender who is going to win you a league. I don't understand how you can possibly interpret that differently, unless you're deliberately trying to

So, to clarify, saying

In response to a post suggesting their defence is pretty good isn't suggesting their defence isn't that good? Utter tosh, laughing and asking if you've seen their defenders when it's suggested their defence is pretty good would mean to anyone with the vaguest grip on the language that you don't think their defence is much good.

Again you've missed the point, he didn't suggest their defence is pretty good, cute how you keep manipulating what has been said. He suggested their defenders are ones that would win you leagues, I then excluded Smalling from the rest saying he's the only top quality one they have and it seems pretty obvious that I don't hold the rest in that category. It doesn't mean I'm saying Darmian for example is dreadful, it means I'm saying he's not a defender who is going to win you leagues. It's not rocket science.

How does Shawcross not get into the England squad? Not even in friendlies?

er do the words "cos he's shit" mean anything to you

Defenders do win you leagues and you can't argue with the fact that they've conceded one goal in about 8 games.

Your point on United only having one 'top quality' defender in Smalling is irrelevant (even though I agree with you) because as a group with De Gea behind them they are pretty much unbreachable at the minute.

For all this talk about how we've not played anybody yet, our next 7 games are very similar to "plucky" Bournemouth's. We're 17 points ahead of them.

Our season won't be defined by our results against last season's top 6.

Totally agree. If we're still in the top 8 come Jan then I firmly believe we'll stay there.

Shawcross definitely should have more England caps. 25 mins against Zlatan in his best game ever and he gets written off! He's probably the most consistent CB we have, which I admit is a tad worrying.

Oh, I'm not arguing the fact defenders win you leagues. I merely saying United's defenders aren't of that calibre. You mean 7 anyway, 8 games ago they got absolutely battered. In those 7 games the only team who really should be scoring is City and CSKA in Moscow, and City were without their two key components to getting goals. So on the whole it isn't that impressive as it seems.

I'll be the first to say December looks tough but it's only the two Manchester clubs that we haven't played out of the current top eight. If anything, we've been unfortunate not to play Chelsea while they've been rubbish or Liverpool under Rodgers.

I'm interested to see how we get on away to some of the big clubs though. We played so well at the Emirates and Anfield last season (arguably the Etihad, Stamford Bridge, WHL and Goodison too) that I doubt we'll have any players overawed by the occasion. Ranieri must be relishing the opportunity to nick the kind of result Palace got at Liverpool today.

He probably would have when Jagielka was starting, but as far as I know hasn't he been pretty much injured quite frequently? He's not really much better than the players we've got, could compete with Jones I guess

it will if we want to win the league, idiot
