Oh, I'm not arguing the fact defenders win you leagues. I merely saying United's defenders aren't of that calibre. You mean 7 anyway, 8 games ago they got absolutely battered. In those 7 games the only team who really should be scoring is City and CSKA in Moscow, and City were without their two key components to getting goals. So on the whole it isn't that impressive as it seems.

You're not arguing that defenders win leagues but you are arguing that one goal conceded in 7 isn't impressive?

ok lol

It's not, the calibre of the opposition surely has to be a factor in the quality of not conceding? clean sheet away to Everton, keeping one against City is impressive. Keeping poverty teams likes West Brom and Middlesbrough at bay is not. Their goals conceded is almost identical to their title rivals anyway, so it's not like it's a huge advantage when both Arsenal and City have just as strong defences.

For all this talk about how we've not played anybody yet, our next 7 games are very similar to "plucky" Bournemouth's. We're 17 points ahead of them.

Our season won't be defined by our results against last season's top 6.

Aren't we winning the games we were supposed to last season? I thought out troubles stemmed from being shit against the rest of the division and we actually did well against the top sides.

So Vardy's goal streak isn't impressive because we've played poverty teams like West Brom and Villa?

1 goal conceded in 7 games in Europe and the PL is bloody impressive whether you like it or not really.

I didn't say that it gave them a huge advantage, only that I could see them winning it due to their defence. Likewise I didn't say that I didn't fancy Arsenal or Man City's chances either.

It's not just the fixtures thing though. Our level of consistency is absolutely unreal regardless of opposition. Look at Liverpool today, that's a fixture we've won.

Not comparable, Vardy is one man not 11 players. Also includes the capital one cup as well. But if you look at the teams, both West Brom and Palace haven't even reached 15 goals in the season yet, these aren't exactly the well drilled attacking outfits you need a top quality defence for. I guess the fact their defence absolutely disappeared against Arsenal puts me on edge about the actual achievement itself, when they come up against the likes of us, it'll be very interesting to see how that defence copes. To clarify, I wasn't saying you said that, just a simply addition to kinda put the defence into perspective so far this season.

Rumour that Monk is about to be sacked. Would be a terrible decision, you can't sack every manager that goes on a bad run.

That would be a good setup for Nige to take over.

Can't see why they would sack Monk, even though I've never been that impressed with Swansea.

Has something happened behind the scenes at Swansea?

Why would Monk be on the verge of the sack. Baffling.

As if he'd even be considered!

they haven't won since August

Its a dip in form, its not terminal.

And they beat Villa a couple of weeks ago, so they have won since August.

Apparently the owner wanted to bring someone more experienced in to work with Monk and Monk wasn't happy with the idea.

I would be shocked if they sack him, they need stability. Sacking him would just be a knee jerk reaction to a bad run and I'm sure they would regret it. He's a promising young manager who did brilliantly last season.

To be honest Swansea have been pretty bad this season. They raced out of the blocks but they've been shite for a while now. As usual it coincided with me putting two of their players in my dream team.

Exactly how I would stand as a player on the oppo team waiting for a pen to be scored. I know you will argue you should be on your toes and follow in regardless but the image they see is VARDY 9 about to break records. They must be pretty deflated

As an aside ; is J.V Michael Jordan getting all that hang time. Bosh

i woudlnt be surprised in one way given results, could be good timing I guess if they are looking for a ready made replacement as David Moyes is about to get sacked, and i think he'd do well there tbh

I don't understand why they havn't been banned and can't keep being banned if you know it's the same person?

They have been banned as he said in his first post. It's not always instantly apparent they are the same person, it's possible to sign up with different ip addresses, different emails etc. Sometimes you only get a hunch through their writing style and the things they say, that can take weeks or months to show through.

I would imagine Mark noticed a similar writing style and then had to physically investigate those accounts for other similarities. I know what they were (I won't say it here as it gives the game away), but you can't do it for everyone before they can post as he'd spend his time doing that and nothing else.

I can't get my head around what sort of weirdo actually creates multiple accounts to post shit and get a reaction on a message board. Is their life so sad, lonely and empty that they feel the need to do that. Absolute weirdo.

Is Moyes their sort of manager, they have always tried to follow the same footballing style. Really not sure he fits in to that at all.

Nige doesn't play enough football for Swansea, the whole club from the chairman down has a style in mind NP does not fit that.

Brendan Rodgers to return to Swansea if Monk is sacked?

This would certainly be more likely, although Brendan may now see himself as billy big bollocks.

****ing surreal....

As you say, fvckin' surreal. But what I would love to know (can't be ar$ed to work it out to be honest) is how much the top five teams' PL squads have cost. Ours can't be more than £40 million (including Kramaric and Inler who don't get a game), whereas all of the other four have squads that cost hundreds of millions. That fact is even more surreal.

Can't believe the BBC are reporting rumours of Monk about to be sacked.

Sacking Gary Monk is utter short termism. They've sold their best players and were always going to struggle to hit the heights.

You wonder where Monk would go from there.

Posted

What a backwards move sacking Monk would be. What did they expect would happen after selling Bony and being outspent by everyone else in the league.
