Again (how many times)..stop being so bloody pessimistic!

It could just be that we CONTINUE to develop as a club.

There are posters on here tipping us to go down three weeks before the season has even started!

It's ridiculous stuff going on.

That's because in over 10 years we have had many managers, and only one has been any good. Not only was he good, he was incredible really. I doubt many have actually written us off as going straight back down again, but as others have pointed out many of us are fearful of what could happen:

- dinosaur "prestigious" manager turns up, with all new backroom staff. Alters playing style drastically, players lose confidence. Wastes money on over-the-hill players (bad eggs) on high-wages and lengthy contracts, leaves formerly valuable players benched or sold at first opportunity. Current tight-knit squad is eventually dissolved, relegation occurs 1-2 years down line. Indefinite spell in Championship (or lower)

- unknown/unproven manager turns up. Trial and error occurs, huge winless run, manager fired

- hoofball merchant manager turns up. Survival is "assured" at the expense of all entertainment. We establish ourselves as Premier League hangers-on, get absolutely pasted some weeks but scrape a dozen 0-0s each season to remain safe

These are scenarios that do happen. We knew what he had with Nige - a well balanced, hardworking squad and always played to win. Never know, we might strike it lucky and find another manager with the same ethos or even sign a manager who we generally are skeptical about but just clicks with the team and we carry on developing. Who knows

I'm just worried as I think we had the formula bang on to progress, and we really have no idea what next season brings. We are much more likely to get Cotterill than Klopp. Steve Cotterill. Steeeeeeve Cotterill. Think about it. Steve Cotterill in the technical area, representing Leicester City. Steve Cotterill on MOTD saying we only lost 3-0 to Aston Villa, really proud of the boys, gonna turn up again next week.

The people who were able to see what Nigel did for the club are upset that he's left and think that until the manager situation is resolved, our future is likely to be bleaker for it.

The people who were able to see how arrogant and tactically inept Nigel is are pleased he's gone and think that our future looks rosier now that we have a chance to choose someone with a more media-friendly persona who will deliver line-ups that we all agree with all of the time.

I agree be careful what we wish for. Doesn't always turn out for the better - Peter Taylor.

Mate it's ALL assumption. Every bit of it.

No one has a clue whether the next bloke will be great or terrible. Whether he will change the squad, or leave it alone. Whether we will start well, or badly, whether we get relegated, or get Europe.

Not the faintest clue.

People are just pissed that Pearson has left, so will mourn him by being complete pessimists and giving no other incumbent a chance.

Assumption, assumption, assumption. THe post from Steve herbs above being a good example.

I do agree we now need to get a manager, the right one, to get sorted and to get cracking.

Hey, cheers mate, glad you agreed with me - I think. How's Suffolk?

What about we open a seperate forum on here, we have the transfer forum, general sport, general chat. Cant we open a mourning forum and just put everything in there.

Sorted.

Why don't you just stay out of these threads, or better yet the forum altogether?

Sorted.

Look what you've written.

Three scenarios that are 'negative' in nature.

This is entirely my point and you've made it beautifully.

I'll give you another scenario:

We sign a manager with pedigree, with tactical astuteness, with media savvy... Who takes us to the next level by signing a better standard of player. We finish in a respectable mid-table position.

Impossible? In your eyes, clearly....

I'm starting to learn there are those who will give no-one else any sort of chance. It actually does appear that some posters are bigger fans of Pearson than they are of LCFC.

Ranieri and Hiddink have been bandied about, i wouldnt be sad to see either of those two come in.

And why does everyone assume the new manager will come here on a mission to rip everything up? Where does this assumption come from?

Because they'll be given the money to do so.

You really think them pair are gonna give a sh*t about club finances? pull the other one.

QPR/Sven all over again if they come I'm telling you.

One positive scenario compared to three negative ones.

What's the likelihood of the positive one happening?

Btw, I do share your optimism.

You wanted to know why people were worried so I explained! I also said that none of those might happen, we might get lucky, we might even improve

Ever considered not being a massive twat?

Ah, the usual insults...

Shame. It doesn't make your pessimism any more correct than my optimism.

Right, legitimate concerns. But how about a fourth option:

Prestigious manager comes in (who we dont refer to as a dinosaur in an already prejudiced way), and takes a look at the squad hes been left. He thinks its decent, and reckons that if he strengthens just a couple of areas, ill be very tidy. He realises what he has at his disposal, and is astute enough to realise that actually, drastic changes arent needed to the playing style. Sure, theres this element and that element he might want to improve, but he doesnt feel like a radical overhaul of playing style is necessary. He realises hes not on a firefighting mission.

He then goes to his owners, who are seemingly on his side and have no qualms about putting their hands in their pockets and providing funds for these targets.

His experience within the game gives him great credibiity, and the players see this too, perhaps as a father figure and want to tap into this wealth of knowledge he has built up at huge clubs, managing big players and even at major world tournaments.

His character is also more savvy. He knows how to use a press conference to his advantage, he is engaging, media friendly. He gets people on his side, and buys himself some slack on this basis. Perhaps he brings a charisma to the role that puts a smile on the face and he has interesting things to say, and the media dont have scope to "push his buttons".

Literally no one it seems thinks this option is viable, when the reality is, its a likelihood.

I'll take scenario No. 4. Very possible and not to be dismissed.

It's the timing, the non expectancy of the sacking and the waiting game that's pissing everyone off right now and has everyone believing we are in a worse situation. I'm in that boat too until the new charge proves his ability to take this team higher.

Why do you assume that funding means those funds will be used to ruin the club? That is a strange assumption to make.

He uses "bud" to try and rile-up/patronise people normally. Keep an eye out for that one.

I'd love for this to happen, but until it's confirmed who we're getting the list of available (and likely) names isn't filling me with hope. It's the uncertainty at the moment

There's a fine line between wumming and actually being an arsehole. Don't overdo it.

Would never doubt Nige always thought we would stay up un like most on here.

But till we know the truth I support the owners.

If Nige supported his lad and stuck by him sorry Nige was wrong.

Also I believe that's the first insult I've ever used on FT. Everyone knows how hypocritical you are

Get over it. It was you who used it. Accept it

And another I see...

I'm sorry bud, I just didn't agree with your post in its entirety. Then you wouldn't have had to be so insulting.
