Nalis Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Was aware of CDL being two legs, just didnt want to repeat what was said in previous posts.
Dan Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34085332 Celtic in trouble with that draw. Fancy Spurs & Liverpool to get through though.
C-man Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Gonna try and make Krasnodar or Baku with Dortmund. Will be mental but no chance of a ticket vs PAOK. Shame as ultras/hools from Dortmund and Super 3 at Aris have a fan friendship so could get pretty heated off the pitch.
Dan Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Wasn't there trouble when Ajax played Celtic a couple of years back?
MC Prussian Posted 28 August 2015 Author Posted 28 August 2015 This is such a bad year for Swiss club football. Only Basel and Sion to rely on, the latter highly likely to crash out in the group stages with zero points. It's all about the Europa League final for Basel in Basel then!!
Asha Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 It's kind of stupid that two teams that met in the Champions League Qualifiers can then be paired together in the Europa League group stage.
Grandad. Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Stupid that teams who have failed to make the Champions League are allowed into the Europa League group stage, failing is acceptable in UEFA's eyes.
Grandad. Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 So if Chelsea and Barcelona are to win every game this season and meet in the Champions League, Barcelona will have played more games than Chelsea? Chelsea would play 6 games in the League Cup, 6 in the FA Cup (possible replays), 38 League games and 13 Champions League games including the Final. Barcelona would play 9 games in the Copa Del Rey, 38 League games and 13 Champions League games including the Final. Sorry if I have missed a competition in Spain (seriously as well, I probably have) but how is La Liga more grueling when they can possibly play 3 less games and have a winter break?
Soar Fox Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Barcelona have got to go to Japan for the world club championship. Don't know how many games they play in that though.

MC Prussian Posted 28 August 2015 Author Posted 28 August 2015 Stupid that teams who have failed to make the Champions League are allowed into the Europa League group stage, failing is acceptable in UEFA's eyes. You can always file a complaint with UEFA.
Grandad. Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 You can always file a complaint with UEFA. Or I'll just moan about it on here, you'll be happy though because it gives dross from Switzerland another chance.
purpleronnie Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Or I'll just moan about it on here, you'll be happy though because it gives dross from Switzerland another chance. Their actual name is St Dross young grasshoppers.
Grandad. Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Their actual name is St Dross young grasshoppers. Ah yes, my mistake. Can't wait for the Prussian reply of beating Liverpool at home last season!!
Grandad. Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 11 and a half hour for Benfica. Outrageous. It's a poor excuse. We are the only ones who struggle with it. Spain have a worse schedule than we do. Copa Del Rey gets played over two legs per round during midweek - so if you get through the first round (as a top tier club) then you play at least 8 games in January. Granted Spain does have a little break during the winter where we have one of our toughest schedules but we don't really have it any worse than them and they're regularly delivering the goods. I just don't think the English style of play is particularly effective on the continent and nor do I think English sides are as good as they're made out to be. I'd definitely bin the groups off though as I do think that just adds unnecessary fixtures. You're sorting something over six games that could be sorted in two, or even one (though I'd not support that idea). Sorry to be a pooper but teams in Spain will play 7 games in January, 5 League games and 2 Copa Del Rey games. Most in England will play 6 (depending on getting through the 3rd Round of the FA Cup), plus if any side reaches the League Cup Semi-Final then they will play an extra two, not even including any FA Cup Replays that will more than likely occur. Not mentioning the Christmas period in England. So in January an English side in Europe could potentially play 4 League games, potentially 3 FA Cup games and 2 League Cup Semi-Finals. The Europa League format needs to change and the schedule in England certainly needs to change.
Dan Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 No I get that mate, but then use Real Madrid instead of Barcelona. Just don't see where this busier schedule is in La Liga. The schedule leading up to the knockout stages. Granted, Spain do get a break around Christmas where England has its most hectic part of the season. It's absolutely stupid that you play on December 26th and 28th.

I wouldn't want the Christmas scheduled changed though. As a fan I love the games coming thick & fast over the Christmas period.
Dan Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 I wouldn't want the Christmas scheduled changed though. As a fan I love the games coming thick & fast over the Christmas period. I'd never advocate a winter break but I wouldn't be totally against one of the games around that period being dropped. Last year I think it was we played on December 26th, 28th, January 1st and January 3rd. That's ridiculous.
MC Prussian Posted 29 August 2015 Author Posted 29 August 2015 Or I'll just moan about it on here, you'll be happy though because it gives dross from Switzerland another chance. Liverpool 0 West Ham 3 So much for dross.
MC Prussian Posted 31 August 2015 Author Posted 31 August 2015 This is brilliant: Fenerbahçe fans start threatening Celtic supporters online with knives just before their Europa League encounter, Celtic fans return the favour by posting similar pictures, just without a knife (#thatsnotaknife). https://twitter.com/WSCsm/status/638026462482821120
ScouseFox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 no wonder spurs play harry kane whether he's fit, not fit, in form or dog shit if this clinton geezer is their next best option. ridiculously bad.
