When is Wes Morgan back?

How he kept his place last season at times was unfathomable. He was absolutely woeful for a period of time. Yes a lot of our players were gash, but Morgan was one of the worst out of the gash in our crap spell. Saying that seemed to get his act together and looked much better and much more comfortable in the run in.

As for retaining the captaincy - he shouldve never been captain in the first place.

Sadly I have to say this is realty. Excellent 1st season out of depth by a long chalk in the Premiership . Don't doubt his commitment just his abilities . Should never have been in the side ahead of Was on performance ever. Moore also made mistakes but is young and can learn . Was certainly never captain material imo.

I actually think he should have withdrawn from one of the two tournaments. Not just for our sake this season. It can't be good for your long-term fitness not having any sort of summer break.

Think you may have a point here. One tournament fair enough but the second was really micky mouse. Think he'll learn his lesson as when he is eventually rested I think hhe'll be behind our new signing and Moore in the pecking order.

Mexico played both tournaments but put out a young team for the copa America and didn't take it seriously, they went on to win the gold cup. Jamaica don't have the strength in depth to do that, but it really should have been thought about. Wes could have pulled a sickie it's not like he is really Jamaican, but then he played against Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay and got to the final of a major tournament so can't blame him for taking it seriously.

Will be interesting to see how he is managed physically and mentally.

He'll never play for City again...Donkey who scores more goals against than for...Hooooof.

Pearson's Mate. Cloudio won't stand for championship quality...Back to Florist please :-]

will likely miss the opener and could find it hard to get back in the team if the defence is looking good.

interesting how CR said he needed a leader to replace cambiasso.

for his first season in the premiership i didnt think he did to bad tbh, improved massively when Huth came in, and hopefully he'll be back for the Spurs game,

all told i cant believe some of the replies tbh, i take that back I can

He was very competent in those final 9 games. I'm not of the opinion he should be gotten rid of unless an ambitious Championship team wants to pay silly money for him. His lack of a break will cost him I think.

Ridiculous pinning of mistakes on Morgan

It's not his fault the Messiah-lead midfield was absolutely dire at tracking CAMs (the key attacking position in the prem) he often had to abandon his man to make last ditch blocks

(look up the stats, we'd have been down by the end of Feb without him)

He was an absolute rock, apart from a couple of bad halves, when the other 10 were probably worse.

Am worried about his lack of summer break & preseason with the new management though

Any of you lot remember Franco Baresi, not blessed with much pace at all one of the best defenders of all time, anyway Yohan has a turn of pace

Baresi, yes. The archetypal no-nonsense defender, despite his size. Used to have refs in his back pocket too!

He wasn't slow though - I remember him marauding upfield and scoring quite a few goals. Took penalties as well!

The stick he gets is unbelievable. As above, our defence at times last season had no-one covering them. At some point any defender will get a last ditch tackle wrong.

interesting how CR said he needed a leader to replace cambiasso.

And has signed a small and by all accounts shy midfielder.

This what we will really struggle to replace, Kante, Inler, Aranguiz are probably all great players but the way Cambiasso would take charge organise everyone talk to everyone he was pure class in that respect.

When I have criticised Wes before as captain is that he doesn't do that, he is a leader by example always first to put his body on the line and stick his head in where it hurts, but Cambiasso and other great leader use their head for a lot more than that. Constant talking, organising, advising, motivating that is what we will miss more than his sublime passing and crucial goals.

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan re-joined the first team squad on Tuesday, as the Barclays Premier League countdown continues at pace.

A little over a week after concluding his CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign with Jamaica, the Foxes skipper was back at Belvoir Drive for his first training session under new Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri.

Unsurprisingly for a player that has been involved in both the Gold Cup and Copa America since last season finished, Wes looked in great shape as he linked up with his City teammates, some of whom he was working with for the first time.

Typically enough, Morgan, 31, wasted little time in getting to know the likes of Christian Fuchs and Shinji Okazaki, who arrived earlier in the summer, while most of the squad are still familiarising themselves with Monday arrivals N’Golo Kanté and Yohan Benalouane.

“It’s good to be back,” Wes told lcfc.com after the session. “The boys have been working hard for a good few weeks now to get ready for the new season and the new lads look to be settling in well too.

“It was good to get a week’s break to recharge a little bit after the Gold Cup, but I’ve played competitively right through the summer, so I feel fit and ready to go.

“Saturday is a big game for us because we want to make sure we start the season well, so everyone’s focused on making sure we kick off with three points in front of our home fans.”

Morgan’s return will come as a welcome boost to Ranieri, who now has a greater depth of defensive options at his disposal, with Benalouane, Robert Huth, Liam Moore and Marcin Wasilewski among those already vying for central defensive berths.

The Italian will continue to study his options this week ahead of Sunderland arriving on Filbert Way this Saturday, as the Foxes look to start their second season back in the Premier League with a win.

Seems to have put a lot of weight on?

He looks no different. He's been training and playing football practically all summer, I'm sure he's had chance to pile on the pounds.
