It actually got a good airing in L1 for the first time in a long time.

It was certainly the loudest it has been for a while. We at the back of the Family Stand tried to join in.... BUT ............it was still WAY TOO FAST.

I don't get it, everyone on here knows it's being sung too fast, surely some of you on here are in L1. Just bleedin talk to the people around you, ask people to sing it slowly.

Sung properly this would be OUR anthem. Because it is OUR anthem.

I am loving everything about being a City fan at the moment, great football, great atmosphere at matches, Forest and Derby are shit, we're winding up the Spurs and Arsenal supporters and we are top of the league! TOP OF THE LEAGUE!

I don't mind the generic chants and songs, as long as there is an atmosphere and noise who cares.

So what if we borrow/steal other clubs songs, so what.

I don't mind the 'Clappers', so what if other fans call it tin pot, ****'em.

But pleeeease, slow down when singing WYS.

Just try this now folks, where you see a # count 1, 2 in your head. Older supporters if you think I'm wrong please feel free to correct me. The lyrics are from the Frank Sinatra song book.

When you're smilin', # when you're smiling #

The whole world smiles with you #

When you're laughin',# when you're laughing #

The sun comes shinin' through ##

But when you're cryin', # you bring on the rain #

So stop your sighin', # be happy again #

Keep on smilin', # 'cause when you're smiling #

The whole world smiles with you ##

na an na na na

The whole world smiles with you

Na na na na na

The whole. (hands up, hands down)

World. (hands up, hands down)

Smiles. (hands up, hands down)

With. (hands up, hands down)

You-ooooooo. (Jazz Hands)

That is how I remember it from the late 60's early 70's.

If we could just get that printed onto the clappers for one game!

Depressing, downbeat monotone rhythem, sad chords and no na, na nahs in it is probably why it doesnt get sung

Any song sounds depressing if people don't belt it out. Almost like some are ashamed to sing it at the top of their lungs. It's so weird.

Gets sung slowly in SK1 every game but still little take up. It's a great shame that we're having all this success and yet in years to come people won't associate our anthem with it.

It's entirely possible that people are self conscious enough to not want to shout at the top of their lungs in a large crowd.

I personally love a good sing song, but if you don't want to sing then it's fine by me.

The reason most people sing WYS so quickly is because they aren't sure of the middle lines. So many people sing 'crying/crying' rather than 'crying/sighing' - it's just a bit awkward for everyone lol

Think one of the reasons it is sung too quickly is because you can't really use the drum for WYS to keep people in time.

Also where I sit, the songs we start singing are usually from what we can hear from sk1 and l1 however we never hear this so it never gets going.

Just my thoughts...

Wys has long been part of the terraces, unique to us, and not copied off YouTube and other teams

Thats why they don't like it. Not hipster enough Edited by foxfanazer

We sit just to the right of the union fs/fosse boys standing area in sk1. Everyone was trying to sing along to the new 'leicester boys' song. We were catching first two lines but the other lines were too fast to pick up. So most of us were mumbling. In fact last line sounded like 'were going to wembley'. It did sound brilliant. Thanks for posting full lyrics.

Who is that aimed at?

Nobody in particular. Just seems to be easier to go through YouTube nowadays and alter songs to fit us rather than slowing down and belting out our own unique classic Edited by foxfanazer

Italian fella on talksport just compared Sundays atmosphere to the La Bombonera.

Italian fella who's presumably never been to La Bombonera.

Agree sadly. Was a really good period in the second half on Sunday where Bring on the Sunderland and Iwan is a Welshman were sung in SK1 the loudest I've heard for a while though. Hope the same happens with WYS sooner rather than later.

What is the tune to the "Leicester boys" chant?

This...

Leicester boys are we, pride of our city

In good times and in bad, we always back the lads,

Now we want to win the league!

Re: When you're smiling.

I heard some fans, I think it was the palace fans, get a real build up going before launching in to the song with a whooooooahhhhh....

Get 30 seconds of whoooaahhhhh going before launching into when you're smiling, gets more people involved lets people know that we are going to sing WYS.

As others have mentioned by the time people register we are singing WYS it is over.

I think 2-4 home games of having the tune of WYS playing pre match, could potentially do wonders for lots more people getting involved with the song. After those games, I reckon the song would be much better established for the future.

If people want to establish it as our anthem again it needs to be sung at the start of every half.

Agreed. SK1 did it on Sunday but in the first half especially everyone was going absolutely crazy from the start so we couldn't make ourselves heard. Might have to put it on ice for the time being and try again the start of next season when everyone's calmed down a bit becasue I can't see any of the remaining home games being any different  lol

Remember some talk of a fanzone outside the stadium. Singing wys there before games would help it spread and bring it into the stands. Similar to chants taking off from being sung in pubs but with more people being involved.
