sylofox Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Ok I know it is not a great source of info but todays people claims. The deal fell through as Wolfsburg offered 1.47 mill to sign on and 80k a week we offered 62k a week. So what if this is true are we paying our players now. Really makes last seasons supposed 30k cap a joke.
Adster Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Wow. We're really talking about this bullshit 30k a week cap again?

So what if this is true are we paying our players now. Really makes last seasons supposed 30k cap a joke. That was Nigel's line of thinking. No one earning too much more than the highest paid keeping a happy camp. Maybe this was the 'perspective' issue? IMO, if we want to establish ourselves in the top half of the prem, a few 'standout' playes on higher salaries can exist. The other players will be ok if they are seeing these guys carrying their weight. After all, survival in the prem will keep their packages up also. The problem comes if these guys are not putting it in. Then you get an unhappy group. it's a risk.
jimmeh Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 What do you expect? Inler will be on 50K a week at least. There is no wage cap. Vardy is on 42k a week
sylofox Posted 6 September 2015 Author Posted 6 September 2015 Wow. We're really talking about this bullshit 30k a week cap again? Why do you think I put supposed FFS
jimmeh Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 If wolfsburg didn't sell du bruyne we maybe could have got dante
JPM1983 Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 30k a week doesn't get you much in the Prem any more. How is any self-respecting footballer meant to survive on 30k a week anyway?
johnny the fox Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 yeah. but he don't get nectar points...do the math.
Stadt Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 You admitted it was a poor source yourself and now you're criticising a potential move, hardly any information leaks out of the club and what little information does leak doesn't reach the people.

Right on, footballers have to commute to Cheshire, which means a Bentley or Range Rover Sport. Imagine their fuel costs....

Criticised nothing all I am asking is what we are paying if that is true. Would he have been our top payed player or middle of the road?
Stadt Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Criticised nothing all I am asking is what we are paying if that is true. Would he have been our top payed player or middle of the road? ok but it's obviously very unlikely to be true
jimmeh Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 ok but it's obviously very unlikely to be true Why? Why would we waste our time offering him 30k a week when he will be on about 80k a week at bayern Munich
Guest Manini Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Don't think it would be possible for us to progress if we did have a wage cap in place. Sadly the modern game is more money orientated than ever. But I still don't think we'd be paying over the odds, to the man on the street then yeah we'd be paying our players ridiculous wages, but in modern football I can imagine we're still not shelling out loads on wages compared to other clubs in this division. Take Palace for example, unless he's taken a significant cut in wages, Cabaye must be on a fair wedge. I'd guess pushing 80-90 grand a week, and I think we're still a way off paying a player that much yet.
jimmeh Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 It's funny how paying £11 million for kramaric is seen as okay but 62k a week for Dante (3 million a year) is not. I would much prefer 4 years of Dante at same cost as kramaric

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 There was no wage cap last year. There was a set amount to cover transfer fee, agent costs, wages etc in each deal but no specific wage cap. Might have changed now but I doubt it.
Guest Manini Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 We will have a cap but way above the supposed 30k last season every club has one even the top 4. Weren't Chelsea paying Lampard £250 grand a week? The top four's supposed wage caps must be very insignificant and meaningless if they do in fact have them. I'm sure if a top player came about and he wanted top top end wages, the top clubs would pay it if they wanted him. (I'm not saying your info isn't correct, I've just never heard of wage caps for top teams before)
Stadt Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Why? Why would we waste our time offering him 30k a week when he will be on about 80k a week at bayern Munich The rumour from the people, they might have found out we made a bid but the contract details, nope

EnglishOxide Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 I reckon our highest paid players will be Inler and Mahrez at around 55k a week. Pure guess of course but it seems about right. 62k a week for Dante would therefore be about right because a) we don't want to piss off other players if there is too big a gap, and b) its not a position we are absolutely desperate to strengthen.
Adster Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Doubt Mahrez is anywhere near 55k a week to be honest.
Jaspa Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 All the wage cap talk came about in the Championship after the whole Wellens, Gallagher, Mills and Beckford situations where Nigel stamped down his authority on that squad. It seems players like Drinkwater, de Laet, Vardy and even Morgan are products of that sensible Nigel policy. We've come a long way and adapted with something learned from that experience but as always you evolve to survive and luckily we have the owners the supplement our current development. Would signing Dante on those wages done us harm? You could argue Vardy, Mahrez and a list of likely hypothetical soon to be new contract extentionees cause no harm. Is it the right decision to sign Dante and similar? Idfk
