West Ham Match Important For Other Reasons?

Recommended Posts

Whilst thinking about this weeks two fixtures, I couldn't help worrying that a bad result against West Ham will be much worse for us all than just being knocked out of the competition.

We are riding a crest at the moment and it's no doubt that the belief the team has and the fans have in the team, is a major part of our brilliant start this campaign. Yes we've had a 'nice' start in terms of competition and the two bigger punchers we've faced have had slow starts themselves, but nothing can be taken away from us about how we have got things done.

My concern is that if the blend isn't right against West Ham and we don't win, or make it a close game, then we walk into Arsenal with our fist competitive loss in a long time. Any points against Arsenal would be outstanding, but outstanding is hard to come by! We have yet to see how we react under Claudio to a defeat and I guess what I am saying is a win against West Ham and even a competitive defeat to Arsenal would still not undo the 'warrior' feeling about the camp. But, two defeats in a week after such a long run and the prospect of our new manager's first red mark on his sheet, will be an interesting scenario in terms of how players and staff manage the situation. It has to happen sometimes, but the prospect of two defeats in a week is a hard one to swallow for a Leicester fan and Leicester players at the moment - so is West Ham important for other reasons, or am I just worrying too much?

You are clearly worrying too much. Just go with the flow. If we lose then so be it and move onto the next game. If we lose 2 on the bounce then yea its rubbish but we now know how to win games in the Prem. That bad run last season i cant see happening again. Especially now at home we have an atmosphere that i think is the best in the country and would genuinely scare any opposition. Just enjoy being in the Premier League and actually competing. We are bound to have bad spells whether its now or in a months time.

What we as fans need to remember is to stick by the team and not get on Ranieris/players backs when we are in a bad spot. This team has done us really proud so far and deserves us as fans to get behind them when we lose rather than jumping on their backs when it doesnt go our way.

Stick together and fight together and we will be a premier league club for years to come.

God i love this club.

It depends on too many other factors, a second string team losing to West Ham will have little impact on the first team against Arsenal, a full strength team losing to West Ham could galvanise them against Arsenal.

Don't forget this is the team that recovered from some appalling runs of results last season, 2 defeats in a row won't phase us, and will hopefully make us more determined. Whatever happens against West Ham and Arsenal will become quickly irrelevant if we beat Norwich away.

What would be telling is how we react to a thrashing, this side has been humiliated by anyone yet, and that would be a lot more damaging than losing a couple of games narrowly.

If we go 1-0 down to Arsenal early on and switch to all out gung-ho attack mode, we could feasibly get spanked, the danger then is next time we need to go all out attack mode we hold back for fear of being dicked on again.

We put out a second string last time (admittedly only against Bury) and came away with a comfortable win. I'd rather see those players given a chance to turn the managers head again. A good display could be the catalyst for the likes of Kramaric, King or Wasilewski to push for a first-team place, and Dodoo's deserved call-up tells us that there's potential to find more academy prospects to boost the squad too.

Tinker away, Claudio. If it doesn't work, there's still the FA Cup to go for yet.

I'm more concerned because the last we completely changed the team in the cup and was doing well in the league it messed us up badly

Bury?

Shrewsbury?

Was that not in the Championship season before we went up?

We're going to lose eventually and we're going to have to deal with it. Losing is part and parcel of football.

The important thing is that we approach games properly. Do the right things and things will go right on the whole.

Our problem last season, in a similar situation, is that when we lost a couple of games we bottled it. We tried to approach games differently, the wrong way, and we paid for it.

Crikey, I wish we had lost all 6 of our league games so we dont have to worry about a league cup knockout derailing our confidence.

I doubt either the manager, players or owners care too much about the league cup and even if we field a weakened team it should still be decent enough against a West Ham team which is also likely to be resting its best players.

Save the worrying for when we go on a losing run of 6 league games or something.

I always remember when we were in the championship, and we lost to huddersfield in the cup after NP messed around with the team, even played Futacs.

Then we went on that awful losing streak.

We're not going to stay unbeaten forever so we should just see it as any other game imo. Play a few players just onnthe fringes of the starting 11 (Ulloa, Kram and King etc) and have a good go. I feel like Arsenal at home is quite the ideal fixture for us at the moment. The players

seem to take it up another notch and the crowd keep them going. Hoping their game against spurs is a bit fiery and we see another couple of Gunners red cards
