They can look asleep because the speakers are in the back of their seats either side of their head so they turn to their side to listen, well they used to be. I guess there could be more deafness in the HofL, probably a benefit.

Remember that time the BBC tried to smear a Tory MP for sleeping in the house? They had to issue a public apology when they realised he's actuallly partially deaf and was listening to the debate through a speaker.

A picture says a thousand words but is easily misinterpreted.

It did the job though unfortunately, was shared among all the left wing groups on Facebook, Twitter etc to try and discredit him. A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth can get it's trousers on.

Good article about politics and social media here, the lengths people go to to make up lies about politicians and the House of Commons is often incredible.

Very interesting watch, amazing the similarities to the current wave of anti immigration.

Wonder how we will all look with 50 years hindsight?

Do you really not see the difference between much needed immigration from the commenwealth to fill jobs and allowing waves of economic migrants from an alien culture already causing chaos in other countries into Britain?

Posted

It's justified this time though. That bottle that baby has could be a bomb.

I've not heard anyone claim a babies bottle could be a bomb yet, although I've barely seen a baby in the groups of migrants arriving, most families appear to be in the refugee camps according to the Red Cross, however people are rightly concerned about terrorism given IS have already told us they will use the crisis to smuggle people into mainland Europe and the cultural impact has already been seen with waves of mass sexual assault committed by a significant proportion of these people across Europe.

Though I suppose if you aren't a young women being violated is easy not to give a shit.

I  agree. But if you are not running from a bombed out country you could also not give a shit. There is no easy answer.

ISIS want us to panic and ignore the humanitarian side of things. Whatever we do it will be wrong from one point of view or another.

How do you know ISIS want us to panic and ignore the humanitarian side of things? If anything I'd say Europe has panicked, Merkel's idea of just encouraging them to come certainly had all the hallmarks of panic and not knowing how to control the situation.

I actually think the last thing ISIS want is Europe not to take these people, certainly if they are managing to smuggle Jihadi's onto the continent to cause mass murder, if we didn't they would probably have to go back to Syria and actually fight IS to regain control of their homeland.

I bow to your greater knowledge.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Why are you bothered about the migrants then?

They have nothing to fear but fear itself. (In case you don't get it in actual fact anyone living near that cult has a hell of a lot to fear)

It wasn't meant to make sense just to try and sound wise.

We are all bothered about others in one way or another. At times we worry about  those that may do harm to ourselves and families. Other times we may worry about the well being of those less fortunate. It all balances out in the end. It is human nature after all.

Some of the wisest words come from fools.

Maybe I interpreted the quote in a different way. I was also  thinking of 'Be afraid, be very afraid.' preceding it.

No doubt the people living in the area have more to fear since they have been told to fear the migrants. And so they should.

That's a start - now perhaps you can get through to the other supposedly "humanitarian" society wreckers.

Not the same at all. There one hell of a difference offering a home to people seeking a new and better life compared to doing the same for people who detest our values and who's are dedicated to imposing their own values.

Interesting choice of words ('society wreckers'), considering the particular political wing you enjoy has nothing but contempt for the idea of society and pushes individualism above all else, and has admitted this.

That's certainly a valid argument for excluding migrants who are Islamic State sympathisers. I also agree with those who criticise the lack of checks on migrants arriving in Germany and elsewhere. An error by Merkel and a fiasco by the EU.

It's not a valid argument against all migrants, though, is it? Unless you assume that all migrants/Muslims detest our values or all Muslims are IS supporters, of course....but that would be a misjudgment that said a lot about your attitudes.

Of course, we also need to apply reasonable controls to the number and nature of immigrants "seeking a new and better life", but that's a much wider issue.

i rest my case, these words would fit perfectly into that doco.

What Alf says. So much better put than I have been doing.

That's because Alf actually made a point.
