There's speculation that Hunt may get a different job. Makes sense to move him from Health, though. Might reduce the confrontation with the doctors a bit, particularly if a bit of extra flexibility is forthcoming.

Otherwise, I'm starting to wonder if Steve Walsh Sr has been appointed as Chief Scout to the cabinet. Some shrewd personnel decisions going on.

If Truss is set for a promotion, I'm less impressed with that. In interviews, she doesn't seem very bright - more like one of those people who gets above their natural level by greasing and toeing the party line.

So much is going to depend on all the different consequences of Brexit, though - what sort of deal they look for, what sort of deal the EU is prepared to do, how the economy responds, which in turn will determine tax/spending to a large extent....then there's trade deals outside Europe to sort out, Scotland, the Irish border etc. They're all going to be very busy. If the country is in a decent state in 2-3 years time, either they'll have done a phenomenal job or they'll have got very lucky somehow. Could be worse, they could be the Labour Party.... :/

Rudd aside I'd say it's been about perfect so far, in terms of the public it seems to be going down very well.

If the government does well I don't think it will be down to luck, although people seming to think Brexit will be an absolute catastrophe does mean they have a lot of leeway, there isn't much expectation for things to be great.

Hunt stays in Health.

lol  lol  lol  lol

A mistake.

Not at all,let him seen through the imposing of the Juniors Doctors contracts then he can be removed afterwards when they are kicking off, he's a bargaining chip you can afford to give away for the greater good, it's a smart move.

Nowt wrong with him being a good Tory/Dark Lord, he just wasn't able to play the PR game well enough to not end up being political poison because of it.

I'd have put him in as the work and pensions secretary, give the placard wavers and benefits brigade a proper Tory bogeyman to get upset about.

It's just amazing that we now have a new foreign secretary who wrote a poem about how President Erdogan of Turkey abuses goats.

I love this country. Rule Britannia.

Not that Erdogan didn't have it coming (can't stand the neo-Ottomanite scumbag), but I really do hope the UK diplomatic corps are on top form because they're going to need to be.

Our new Justice Secretary:

This is what happens when tokenism enters politics, you get incompetent people pushed to positions above their ability. We need to bring Esther McVey back when a safe seat is avaliable, capable and hot.

It may not surprise you to hear that I don't view the whole Labour Party as defined by "blinkered class warfare and flawed theoretical shit"....though there are individuals/factions defined by that within Labour - and within the Tory party.  :D

Labour are certainly in a big mess at the moment. I hope that it leads somewhere positive eventually, though it may take a while. Mind you, the Tories now face massive challenges post-Brexit, so there's no guarantee that they won't end up in a big mess a little further down the line.

What's it to you, anyway? I thought you were opposed to democracy?

Like you and everyone else I have to live with the cards I'm dealt.

It's not so much the concept of democracy - and everyone having a vote - that upsets me as a general principle, just the fact that it's a flawed as so many other theories and can still produce an entirely wrong decision even from a sizeable majority of people.

Notwithstanding the size of the majority, which to me was emphatic given the areas that majority represented, some would say the referendum vote was a case in point.

It strikes me that Hunt has been left in place to take the dr fall out and some of the other appointments are a bit "you wanted it - now make it happen".....

First a woman does not necessarily support everything her husband does. But, perhaps more important, if the law allows people to legally benefit from tax evasion it is ridiculous to expect that people won't act to enjoy the benefits. They might even do so and give substantive sums to their own charitable choices rather than Government projects they don't agree with. You shouldn't make assumptions.

May's comment is entirely unambiguous and she's in the perfect place to see her wishes come about.

If she doesn't act your criticism will be fair. But you might wait to see first.

What you've presented is so typical of your one-sided outlook. Perhaps you should work for the BBC.

Because Tony Blair and Gordon Brown had years to sort out corporate tax avoidance but didn't.

As for Blair himself, he seemed to look after his income well enough.

I'm no Theresa May flag-waver but she starts with a clean slate as far as I'm concerned and you might be gracious enough to give her time to act as a Prime minister before applying standards you choose not to apply to others. She might well need some slack given the political state of the country right now!

If she's found wanting I'll be happy to acknowledge it.

You in the meantime might try looking at things from both sides for a change.

I am not biased or one sided. I distrust all politicians which is why I posted in the politics thread rather than  than start a 'Civil war among Tories or corruption in the Tory party or 'Is Racism rife in the Tory Party' or'Looney Righties at it again.'  like what is dedicated to other parties. 'That nice Mr Cameron has resigned' is the closest to a Tory thread and then it is 'that person or that person is perfect for their role and will save the country'

You miss the point anyway. Do you think she disagrees with her husband enough to refuse to share in the benefits or have him investigated? Why are you defending her? If it was a Labour politician would you defend them? I certainly would not.

Did you also see that someone appointed to work in the environment is pro foxhunting and tearing down trees?

Politicians all as bad as one another. No wonder people are cynical.

You really think Ken will be gracious enough to judge May on what she does Thrac? lol

The Tories are the bogeymen of life for him, everything that goes wrong they will be blamed.

Given how obsessed with public school you are Ken I thought you would have a word of praise for a government with the most state educated ministers for over 50 years.
