I was going to say, what's "a changing" by electing the Canadian liberals?

I vote probably have voted for them, any party who promises only 22% tax rates on middle earners and promises to run a government surplus deserves a shot.

I thought you were talking about Zac Goldsmith for a second then and got confused

Behave, Zac is at best a trainee Nonce Finder at the minute, if could go for full NFG status though if Tommy Ten Pizzas resigns and he has the audacity to use his parliament privledge to try and out a lot of Labour MP's as nonces with barely a shred of evidence.

'Long-standing, close friends' have drink together shock.

Plausible of course, I do think the NFG has his eyes on that top job though, probably become availiable in 2016/17, even more so as it's unlikely Dan or Chukka would be wanting to step in at that time.

http://www.oddschecker.com/politics/british-politics/next-labour-leader- He's incredibly short in the betting to be leader given his current political position is also in some doubt.

Good work from the Mirror. The whole 'Northern Powerhouse' thing is looking a joke at the minute.

David Cameron should stop kowtowing to China’s President Xi Jinping and stand up for British steel.

Better relations with China, the world’s second largest economy, are desirable – but not at
the expense of thousands of jobs in a vital industry or, for that matter, the sidelining of human rights.

The Conservative Government’s lack of interest is insulting and dangerous when workers and communities are facing redundancy and devastation with job losses extending far beyond steel plants.

Tory talk of a Northern powerhouse is a joke when deeds speak much louder than propaganda words.

On the red carpet or at the state banquet, Mr Cameron should take a break from the bowing and scraping to express opposition to China dumping steel in Britain when it throws British workers on the scrapheap.

President Xi is proud of China, and Premier Cameron should be proud of Britain.

Save Our Steel, Prime Minister, or you will never be forgiven by victims of an economic policy lacking any sense.

4 things the Government must do to Save Our Steel
  1. An immediate cut in business rates for the steel industry and a fairer system of valuation
  2. Give the steel industry a break from green taxes and high energy bills
  3. Block China from dumping cheap steel on the UK market
  4. Buy British. Majore infrastructure and construction projects and all government-backed contracts should look to use British-made steel

Presumably, all the Tory posters on here will now stop devoting 95% of their posts to Labour and will concentrate on the policies of those in charge - the Tories?

I've stated this several times.

We (they) seem to lack discussion on the actual measures being put in place and just talk about wild possibilities in 2022

The northern powerhouse thing is about improving the region's ability to compete and prosper in the modern developed service economy not compete with China on labour costs in basic manufacturing.

And that's going really well, what with the delays to rail electrification and all that...

Probably smearing their own shit on the wall as we speak.

That's called plastering in the Home deco trade. Ask Webbo for more info.

1) No problem with that if we decided to pursue it although I do hope people will stop moaning when the tax shortfall has to then be made up somewhere else, perversely it's often the same people who demand lower business tax, less deals with China, us to cut off all trade with Saudi Arabia etc then call for greater public spending. It's not going to happen if you lessen the tax take.

2) Agree, although again it's strange the same people and media obsessed with "climate change" that have forced these sort of taxes on the public are now prepared to remove them.

3) By "dump" I presume they mean "sell" - Is this even legal? Even if we wanted to do this I doubt we could, we are in the EU trading block and that has a trade pact with China, if British firms want to buy Chinese steal they can't stop them.

4) Again no problem if they really wanted to implenment it, but don't moan about government profligacy if you force them to spend more than they have too on public services.

Presumably that refers to British jobs..

No we aren't. The lowest rate of unemployment is still 3.4% in 1973/1974.

I  didn't say the lowest rate did I? I said we were employing more people than ever before.  There's a big difference.

Thank goodness - how can someone have valid political views if they don't conform to a stereotype?

Oh they can, but if you want to apply for the job of political statesman then actually dress like a political statesman. You wouldn't turn up to a job interview dressed like a chicken, you wouldn't turn up to your daughter's wedding in a vest and pants, it's just basic politeness, decorum and common sense for the occasion.

A pilot could still fly a plane dressed as a ful kit willy puller but I wouldn't want them turning up for work in it.

Far from being naive, I am not taking in by the stereotyping and stigma that is banded about. Do you actually know these homeless people? Do you know their history and why they are homeless?  It is obvious some of you do not and will never open your mind and think before you spout such garbage.

Many homeless people are ex forces but  I suppose you will dismiss that as leftie propaganda but will never believe that the right are capable of promoting propaganda to  influence the converted. I find it incredible that there are still some that fall for the stereotyping.

But if you want to pat each other on the back for making some 'witty' comment about people you do not know  go ahead. You maybe mocking me but you are insulting some hardworking people who give up their time to help others change their lives for the better. I suppose many of your solutions would be to leave people on the street to die but if it not you or your family why should it matter to you.

Yeah, we have more people in the country so need more employment to satisfy demand.

Haven't the likes of apple dispelled that myth yet?

How did we get here from going without a tie and not buttoning the top-button on a shirt? lol

I'd definitely wear pants (not sure about a vest) to my daughter's wedding. In fact I did.

Pesonally, I don't judge anyone based on their clothes; my sole interest is whether they can do the job.

Just back from London and there were a lot of homeless/beggars.quite a few were obviously incapable of looking after themselves and needed help.there were however a lot of able bodied young people who didn't seem to have any greater problems than other young people.everyvwhere you went there were posters advertising work. It's naive to believe all homeless people are victims of society, just as it's naive to think many don't need help, although if you chose to be a drunk or druggie you have to accept some responsibility
