Cue the defence slating. Arsenal post match thread.

I was on a corporate package yesterday so we got a tour of the dressing rooms. Mahrez was in already as we went round and we weren't allowed into the physio area because "someone is being treated" - obviously Riyad. Don't think he was fully fit and they were trying to keep the lid on it

The bench was baffling. No centre halves? No Fuchs after his performance the other night? Yet Simpson managed to get on there. Bizarre to say the least.

Said the same thing before the game. Fuchs has to start for me, our full backs are currently the weak links in our defence.

From MOTD the defending was just unbelievably dire for the first and fifth arsenal goals.

Wtf was mahrez doing when Vardy hit the post? He had a pretty easy shot on his right foot and he tried to take it to the byline?!

Don't mind losing 5-2 to be honest, as long as we get to 40 points I'd rather see exciting football and finish 17th than Pulis-ball it to 14th. Obviously no guarantees of that though.

As soon as the team was announced I said we would lose, I'm usually optimistic too, but mahrez on the wing was never going to work as he offer little defensively. I feel he should have been behind Vardy with Albrighton on the right and schlupp on the left.

After the midweek game CR said alot of players had put in a claim to be starting against arsenal, but not one did!

Ranieri got it wrong, let's hope he learns from it.

Have I missed something? What about the second goal? Wasn't Sanchez completely unmarked at the back stick and would have had the time to lie down and knock it over the line with his head? (Like we used to do on the park lol)

If I recollect, RDL had slid in at the FRONT post (on the left side) to make a block, thus leaving the player basically on his own to slide it in?

And I again question how one of the smallest players on the pitch cab score with his head from around the penalty spot unmarked by our big two centre backs?

The defensive side of the team yesterday across the board, was woeful at times.

HUTH needs a pacy centre half beside him , The Belgian boat Richie has moments but he isn't good enough for a premier league team looking to Europe , and Schlupp just offers little when faced with the best attackers in the league , but then again he doesn't face them every week

Transfer window at Christmas should be about signing a class right and left back and a centre half with pace who reads the game if the quality isnt available then make them the summer priorities

Arsenal were like an efficient butcher yesterday they took out the boneing knife out and sliced us apart at will , but before the butcher had his knife in his hand we should have been 3-0 up , so all in all it was a schooling , we were nieve but no one will be loosing sleep

The first 30 mins was an amazing game

We just generally cannot defend , and yesterday we played a seriously good side who showed us what happens when you take your chances clinically.

Don't think there's too much point dwelling though. However it just further re-emphasises my point RE formation ..

EVERYTHING we have done well this year has come playing 4411/442. We were very much in the game at HT playing that shape and so frustrating he changes it to 4141

Vardy has said specifically he doesn't like playing up front on his own. By the time ulloa comes on it's 3-1 and game over and our best crosser of the ball has gone off a few minutes later.

Some frustrations but not the end of the world.

442 again next week. Ulloa deserves a start as probably does Fuchs

Most of the cup team played 120 minutes, and both Kante and Mahrez faded in the second half after being subbed.

Ulloa seemed OK though.

The pacey counterattacking game takes it out of our players. Midweek games are going to need some squad rotation.

Fuchs and Benny should start at Norwich in place of Schlupp and Huth. Put Schlupp on the left wing and Albrighton on the right.

Premier league team looking for Europe? Behave yourself.

The target from everyone in the club from day 1 was to stay up

Nothing has changed. Idiots talking of the target being Europe...leaves us wide open to abuse when we do get a spanking from time to time.

Get real mate we are Leicester City and you should be happy with 17th any day of the week.

After all the upheaval in the summer a year of consolidation with us adding to the quality in January and next summer is progress enough.

Then slowly build and become established like a Stoke or Southampton before finally kicking on the the next level. Then you can start to think about Europe.

It's a work in progress that will take a few years. Be happy with survival.

To many errors yesterday, caught out to many times and seemed to not handle arsenals pace but to be fair thats the difference with players like wallcot and sanchez they will punish you for not picking or your man or giving them to much space. On a side point what the f**k is cityfanlee? Remind me of ex wife, just go's on and on and on, repeating same thing. Got to be that self minded that its impossible to think someone could possibly have a different opinion. Got tired of reading repeated statement after 9th time.

Agree with this, we're asking too much of the team to play intense, pacey, counter attacking style every game. We need to mix styles and formation to suit the opposition and the players physical state. I think we have been a little nieve, there is a balance to be found which plays to our attacking strengths and defensive weaknesses as NP discovered towards the end of last season. We simply can't go gungho every game and expect to win, it won't come off against the cream of the PL however nothing stopping us playing that way in the other 20-30 games over the course of the season (should keep most fans happy). There needs to be an element of grinding out some results by playing intelligently where required and exciting gungho football where appropriate.

High line was suicidal but I watched De Laet closely during yesterday's match and I've never seen a defender with such poor decision making and marking ability. He was either charging out of the back line needlessly or if he was part of the back four he had no idea where Sanchez was and gave him the freedom to destroy us.

I know people dislike Simpson but he is a better defender and more suited to yesterday's game.

We have discussed the second goal at length already and discussed why Ritchie had to come across. He should have been covered by the rm player. I.e mahrez who had just been part of the attack that saw okazaki and then vardy fouled.

Funny everyone has stopped using swansea as the Southampton partner in the build slowly theory ....wonder why ?

And stoke really you want to be the next stoke FFS where is your ambition man

Bollox to build slowly it has no place in this cash rich mega bubble of the EPL , the cash swelling around is crazy add to that a debt free club , fine infrastructure and mega rich owners , something Stoke can only dream about

We Of course have to stay In the league but beyond that you might as well dream and dream BIG

Felt ashamed seeing all those people streaming out before the end yesterday. Pathetic.

Police and council need to manage post match traffic better and then people might stay longer

Would rather we went out and had a go at teams than go through that run off games we rolled over and died in last season. I really enjoyed how attacking and open both teams were yesterday. Yes the result is a shitter but at least it was entertaining.

Yes I am aware there is a half way house.

The 2 things cr got wrong for me yesterday. Fuchs for me played his way into the side the Tuesday. Jeff is still poor defensively.

And leo should have started or at worst been the half time sub. Seemed a very odd decision to leave vardy up top on his own only to change it again 15 mins later.

Einstein said that insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Yesterday at times we were insane (in a negative way)

Crap excuse.

Indeed , but true

thats a fair point , he can't really do his own job to a top ten team standard hard to expect him to do someone else's

He is a quality squad player but we have outgrown that level of tallent and more Importantly so has the league

Mind you his job in blocking Vardy in the japgate casino situation was fantastic lol

I think of that back four the one most capable at playing this level is De Laet. Shows how we view the game differently as supporters.

Schlupp is a premier league player, but not at left back. His concentration isn't good enough.

Huth is too slow and looks a shadow of the player he was last season.

We has done well but age isn't on his side and I think we should be looking at a replacement.

Why did Ranieri spend a fortune on a centre half to not play him?
