Buce Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 Nerd alert. If anyone is awake between 03.10 - 04.30 there is a spectacular astronomical event occuring. The Moon is a Supermoon at present (14% larger than normal) and will also undergo a total eclipse. It won't disappear like in a Solar eclipse because light from the Sun will be bent around the Earth by the Earth's atmosphere, but only in the red spectrum, so the Moon will appear a dark copper colour.
Unabomber Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 Yeah should be awake, not like I have to get up for work or anything.
glenny_fox Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 The thought of it being a supermoon then reading it's only 14% larger makes the whole thing slightly underwhelming
Jaspa Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 Guessing its gunna be in the east because its about half way round from the west now. I'd have to pop out in me jim-jams if its gone all the way round there. What was it last month? - the perseid shower and I'm sure there've been a couple blood moons this year too, I keep hearing people say its all once in a lifetime stuff and its monthly atm
Samilktray Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Left for work at 5 and definitely saw a werewolf and a vampire having a fight. Could be coincidence though.
Fox92 Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 I set off for work at 7, it was very foggy. Couldn't see anything. Radio said it overshadowed the eclipse, too (although I didn't get up and look at 3am).
Bobby Hundreds Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Another one in 18 years, don't worry if you missed it.
purpleronnie Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 The thought of it being a supermoon then reading it's only 14% larger makes the whole thing slightly underwhelming Really? Pretty amazing if you ask me. I'm sure theres some shitty reality TV show on instead.
Jattdogg Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Over here in west suburbs of Toronto region it was supposed to be visible but clouds stole the night. Some areas saw it just not mine. Feel cheated. Who can i sue?
Beliall Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 The thought of it being a supermoon then reading it's only 14% larger makes the whole thing slightly underwhelming . if thats the range for super, how crap are superheros. "14% better than you"
