You'd love it mate lol

Listening to Hilary and I'm not sure what to make of her still, she's so establishment, at least you know with Trump and Bernie they mean what they say.

I'm of a similar opinion regarding Hillary being establishment, but quite frankly she promises to leave Roe v Wade alone, along with the Supreme Court gay marriage decision, and that differentiation between her and any Republican candidate is enough for me.

Good win for Cruz that.

Nightmare for the GOP though, keeps him and Rubio in it.

You watching CNN? Bizarre stuff, 20% of Dems wouldn't vote Hillary, 30% of Republicans wouldn't vote Trump according to a poll lol

Imagine if cross voting decided this.

Nah, just running the Beeb website for updates for the time being. Interesting poll that - there does seem to be a massive polarisation issue regarding politics right now, not only in the US but other places too.

And that's scary too, because polarised politics and people with power encouraging it tends to end pretty damn badly if history is any judge.

History is a bad judge of a lot of things we still try to do.

What a difference from Trump tonight, a whole speech based on economics and trade, as a Brexiteer I was jealous.

Easily his best oration so far.

Yeah, people say that people forget history and repeat it because of that. That's bollocks - people remember history and then repeat it anyway because then they've got an excuse to be cvnts to those other people that were cvnts to them way back when.

Trump went through a whole speech without demagoguery and rhetoric? Say it isn't so.

Yeah watch it, mentioned the trade deficit of US and the pathetic surrender of Obama to Iran and China.

No tariff trade with the US? Can he do it?

Glad he's committing to no silly foreign policy here, unless a direct threat he's not interested.

You might be interested to see who around him talks to him about 'direct threats' and how many there actually turn out to be. If he sticks to non-interventionism then kudos, though given he's on record wanting to grab Middle Eastern oil through bombing and seeking to antagonise the Chinese through all means short of an actual shooting escapade I remain skeptical.

Edit: Regarding Iran, I actually think it's our best chance to actually have a stable, reasonably secular ally in the Middle East, so we should be talking to them. The Saudis are fundy nutjobs for the most part - far more Islamic and conservative than Iran is.

Serious right wing carnage this. Cruz pledging to repeal Trumps "expansion' of Obamacare, support of Israel and his anti gun laws

Even I almost threw up at that, what the ****.

Cruz is pure Southern-Baptist, fire and brimstone 1950's-household-style, where the dad makes the rules and everyone else obeys and God looks down on him in admiration at his chosen creations.

I would expect nothing less from him.

Like I said, a lot more polarisation going on.

Think tonight has made it reasonably clear it's going to be Hillary v Donald, though I expect both Cruz and Bernie will hold on for a while yet. I think everyone else on the Republican side is going to get culled either tonight or shortly after though, which is a shame as I thought Rubio might have been able to keep things going.

Ignore my question, watching his speech I can see it.

It's like watching Billy Braggs Dad with a tinfoil hat on. No wonder he wants the young involved, no one with an ounce of common sense would vote for this nutjob.

lol

I do not understand American politics. They all seem nuts. Did I read in an earlier post that Trump was in favour of Obamacare and gun control? Or did I misread it?

The American constitution I believe says church and government should be kept separate yet there is a bible basher running for president. How long would it be before he would change that? scary.

I'd be interested on what your take on the whole thing is Webbo...who would you like to win?

Sounds as if they've voted for Rubio and Sanders up in Minnesota.

Might need to redraw the border and hop into Canada there, lads and lasses!  :D

As a rule, the closer to the Canadian border you get the more libertarian you get too. It's not an ironclad rule, but it applies in most places. It stands to reason that the Northeast is where Sanders has made the most gains, as well as having folk like Gary Johnson do well there in the past.

I don't know, sorry but I don't know whether you're taking the mickey with some of your recent posts.

I think his language is a bit fruity but I reckon Ken was pretty spot on with that post. Trump is in favour of a (slightly) more socialised version of healthcare that his Republican peers (though he would still dismantle Obamacare) as well as limited gun control.

And Ted Cruz is possibly the epitome of a Bible-basher - good oldfashioned no nonsense Southern Baptist, and I have no doubt that he would seek to alter the Constitution to reflect more religious influence on government if he was able to. Thankfully, he would need a big majority in both Houses to do so.
