themightyfin Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Where are they now? It seems that the talk for the first 6-8 games despite our great start was for a return to the 3-4-3 formation brought in by NP. Interesting now we have climbed to the top those guys do not seem to be posting it anymore.? Does this mean all those people are now accepting that CR knows more than them?! Come on guys...come back and admit who you are and give your view now
filbertstreet Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 tell you what they're not top of the league is where they're not
LCFC FOX Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Nope still want Ranieri out because he doesn't play 3-4-3
Donut Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Claudio Ranieri has forgotten more about football than the average foxestalker knows. He knows exactly what hes doing and the results show it.
The Doctor Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I'd still go 3-4-3 since our defence looks more ponderous with the 4-4-2 than it did then, but it's not Austin, so people aren't going to talk about it constantly...
Jimmy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 would still prefer that system myself but it's not a bad plan b for us. to be fair since Simpson has come in at right back we have looked much more assured at the back, though Huth is treading a fine disciplinary line
Donut Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 TOP OF THE LEAGUE And people want a different system!!!
Jimmy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Why? because it's a personal preference we looked more defensively sure with it with Huth Wes & Wasyl as a 3, we were also much better at defending set pieces with it, a big weakness
Harry - LCFC Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 That formation was very effective at the end of last season so it wasn't that outrageous to want us to continue playing it early this season. I know people love to act all superior like this when they see the opportunity but there's really no basis for doing it here. Requesting a 3-4-3 formation was an entirely valid and reasonable opinion to hold.
Izzy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 because it's a personal preference we looked more defensively sure with it with Huth Wes & Wasyl as a 3, we were also much better at defending set pieces with it, a big weakness Who would you sacrifice from yesterday's team then if you bought Wasyl in and played as a 3?
lgfualol Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I wanted it because our defence were so shit, despite winning. But since bringing Simpson and Fuchs in, our current formation is the way to go. I was skeptical of 442/4312 after we were so shit last season playing that way. But as usual, Ranieri and team showed me up.
The Doctor Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Who would you sacrifice from yesterday's team then if you bought Wasyl in and played as a 3? Simpson obviously... 4-4-2 is working brilliantly, but 3-4-3 was excellent for us at the end of last season, so calling for it earlier in the season was perfectly reasonable, and it's still a perfectly viable alternative now, I dare say Claudio might try it against some of the bigger sides in the next month to provide that extra bit of steel against the likes of Aguero.

Viva Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 It was ridiculous the amount of people banging on about 3-4-3 as if that was the only way we could win a game.
Harry - LCFC Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 So your one of them then? At the start of the season I thought playing with three at the back would be our best option. I changed my mind fairly early on.
Great Boos Up Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I'm here your honour! I plead guilty. Sorry! Please forgive me; I won't do it again, I promise.
The Doctor Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 So your one of them then? We were leaking goals at the start of the season, I'd be shocked if anyone was opposed to trying out the formation that saw us keep 5 clean sheets in 9 games.
Izzy Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Simpson obviously... 4-4-2 is working brilliantly. You're right, 442 is working brilliantly and most posters on the ratings thread gave Simpson 8/10 for yesterday's performance. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it... So, you're just ignoring the point that it won't work against everyone and sometimes we'll need a bit more in defence to counter specific threats... It's not broken, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't adapt where needed.
Viva Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 So, you're just ignoring the point that it won't work against everyone and sometimes we'll need a bit more in defence to counter specific threats... It's not broken, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't adapt where needed. Let other teams try to find a way beat us and our formation, rather than us changing too much for them. If we need a bit more steel in our formation we add Schlupp.
benpicko Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 The 4-4-2's working and we're not conceding stupid goals from open play at the moment, so sort out the marking for set-pieces and he's clearly fixed it
The Doctor Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 If we need a bit more steel in our formation we add Schlupp. I assume you're trying to make a joke and not suggesting that Schlupp adds something defensively?
Viva Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I assume you're trying to make a joke and not suggesting that Schlupp adds something defensively? He adds more to the defence than Okazaki or Ulloa, or Mahrez I should say as he would be pushed up.
