Where have all the 3-4-3 boys gone?

So, you're just ignoring the point that it won't work against everyone and sometimes we'll need a bit more in defence to counter specific threats... It's not broken, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't adapt where needed.

I dare say Claudio might try it against some of the bigger sides in the next month

You reckon? I'm not so sure he'll tinker with the system that got us to the top of the league. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I'd like to see him continue to play to our strengths that have got us where we are, rather than adapt based on the perceived strengths of the opposition.

Hardly unreasonable fans asking for the formation that sent us on that winning streak! Personally always preferred 442 but 352 is still a strong option to have

i was a big fan of 3-5-2 but 4-4-2 is working well so let's not mess with it .

i think the main reason 4-4-2 is working we have Kante running around the middle like the Tasmanian devil so we dont need a extra man in the middle .

also we have more defense full backs now ( Fuchs ) and ( Simpson ) who have made us more solid at the back .

Fair enough at the start of the season. But people were still banging on about it 2 months down the line when we were around the top 4.

because it's a personal preference we looked more defensively sure with it with Huth Wes & Wasyl as a 3, we were also much better at defending set pieces with it, a big weakness

You must be on a wind up. How can a formation have any bearing on how well we're defending set pieces? You realise they don't actually stand in formation at set pieces? The only thing that may help is a change in personnel as we'd have an extra centre half!

Of all the crap that was posted about Pearson leaving and Ranieri's appointment, the formation was the least of it.

If you want to goad people then you need to find the posters who were saying we'd finish bottom of the league and that Ranieri would be sacked by Christmas. Or even recently people saying we'd pick up 1 point from the last three games. Those posters have ran away for now but will be back when we lose a couple. When that happens hopefully they'll be treated with the disdain they deserve.

3-4-3 did play to our strengths, but it's worth noting that Arsenal left us exposed readily and that perhaps an extra body back there would have aided it with the amount of space Sanchez was finding. It's about balance, play to our strengths but don't be completely naive.

No they weren't.

And if they were it was because they felt that it made us more solid at the back (5 cleansheets from 9 at the back end of last season). Until very recently we were leaking an insane amount of goals.

The 3-5-2 made us solid at the back but retained our attacking threat.

It's an entirely valid opinion to hold.

What is it with some people? We are top of the league and there are bitchy comments coming out based on a small difference of opinion about our best formation lol lol

Get a life lol

Where are they now?

It seems that the talk for the first 6-8 games despite our great start was for a return to the 3-4-3 formation brought in by NP.

Interesting now we have climbed to the top those guys do not seem to be posting it anymore.?

Does this mean all those people are now accepting that CR knows more than them?!

Come on  guys...come back and admit who you are and give your view now

Simpson, Fuchs, Kante; 'nuff said. :D

The change in formation certainly had an effect on our performances last year but I do wonder how much of it could be psychological. We weren't being destroyed by our opponents at any time, so NP knew the players were capable of good performance. The previous formation wasn't getting as much success as we'd hoped it would so by saying to the players that we're changing formation, they may have felt under less pressure and had increased confidence because of it. Trying the same thing over and over again and yielding no results must begin to grate on a player so the often to try something different may have come as a relief.

It could certainly have played it's part.

Didn't Cloughie once say something about players winning matches not tactics?

Premier league team looking for Europe? Behave yourself

Premier league team looking for Europe? Behave yourself

Premier league team looking for Europe? Behave yourself.

The target from everyone in the club from day 1 was to stay up

Nothing has changed. Idiots talking of the target being Europe...leaves us wide open to abuse when we do get a spanking from time to time.

Get real mate we are Leicester City and you should be happy with 17th any day of the week.

After all the upheaval in the summer a year of consolidation with us adding to the quality in January and next summer is progress enough.

Then slowly build and become established like a Stoke or Southampton before finally kicking on the the next level. Then you can start to think about Europe.

It's a work in progress that will take a few years. Be happy with survival.

Target Europe!@ Delusional.

Still stick by this, OP?

Ah Oxide pipes up! I don't post here too often but I remember what a twat you were after the Pearson sacking!

I don't think it is a valid opinion to hold currently when we are top of the table playing some great attacking football. I don't care if we concede every game if we keep scoring more.

When things change and results don't go our way, then yes I'm sure Ranieri will consider his options.

3-4-3 posters like I, was always to combat the weak and non-existant midfield pairing of James - Cambiasso and Drinkwater - Cambiasso in the few games.

We were shocking for many games, and defensively weakened because our CMs just wernt good enough. To play 442 you need great attackers on the wings, and two strong CMs, Drinkwater's form has been fantastic, Kante is our best signing in a very long time.

I'm happy with the 4-4-2 / 4-4-1-1 that's going on, so long as the CMs stay strong.

I still would like to see Claudio try it, maybe if Simpson gets injured. Just swap him for Benny, opposition might be caught off guard thinking it is a straight replacement.

But then pull out a 3-4-1-2 with Benny at CB, Fuchs at LWB, Albrighton back on the right where he wins so many corners, and Mahrez behind the strikers but able to drift to the right or left and play like a winger.

I was just responding in kind because he called me a twat for defending Nigel Pearson and putting forward the case that he was a great manager.

Why are you trying to start fights on the internet? lol

I wouldn't change to any formation that moved Fuchs from his fullback spot. He's been phenomenal.

. He was terrific yesterday. I love his reaction when we score. He gets so delighted. Also was so delighted for Vardy. Gave him a nice little head Pat at the end of the game. Him and Kante two great acquisitions.
