Could this be our year

Recommended Posts

Unbelievably Chelsea will only be 4 wins off 4th if they beat us tomorrow. As much as I hate to say it, midweek could have really kickstarted their season. Most likely scenario is that in 10 games time they are right back up there after a run of victories. Potentially above us by then too. Let's hope not.

Only 4 wins? That's a lot of wins for any team, but it's a hell of a lot for a team 1 point off a relegation place, not to mention we will be gaining points ourselves in the next four games. A win tomorrow would see us 9 points ahead of 5th place, so less negativity please.

This! No more talk of winning the league please, pretty please, seriously!

And just to point out that only person in this thread who has mentioned your quote of the implausible is you!

This could be our year!. Europe and or the FA cup!

See how the next month goes. It could be a definite 'no' by then.

2015 though...what memories! If we can add to them tomorrow night I might just spontaneously combust!

Put it in context, imagine if this question was being asked pre season? :)

Whatever people or pundits think we're where we are on merit and playing exciting fast attacking football.

Let's carry on loving it and see where the ride takes us!

I did find myself watching Spurs and hoping to a keep distance from that 5th spot.

I also can't comprehend that I'm actually posting these words !?

One step at a time. Once we're safely in the play offs we can start dreaming of automatics... :pearson:

Chelsea's next 10 fixtures

Leicester

Sunderland (H)

Watford (H)

Man Utd (A)

Palace (A)

West Brom (H)

Everton (H)

Arsenal (A)

Watford (A)

Man Utd (H)

That takes you to first week of Feb. Cliche of 'anything can happen' obviously but they've been so inconsistent or just shit in so many games this season.

We actually have squad depth. No doubt our current 11 is our strongest but we have players to come in, in every position that can do a job and I'd rate as good PL players. Man United don't have the same depth and so I don't think a few injuries will massively affect our chances.

The other encouring thing for me is that we have not played well I'm all games and still got results.Villa, Stoke and Soton are clear examples. We have got results in games we have been second best. That's a very good sign. Another factor is our fitness and team desire. Everyone is clued up and everyone is willing to fight. Not one member of the squad is not committed. The team spirit and atmosphere must be electric.

Obviously other teams have better quality, but we have a better team spirit, togetherness and desire. It really comes down to what will prevail. But make no mistake, we are a quality side and we have very good players in our side. We have the ability to cause an upset and at least finish top four. It will need a massive effort, but we have the depth, fitness, quality and desire to do it. Make no mistake

It's unbelievable you said that but it's true.

They had Nick Powell come on FFS, where has that quarter of a billion gone?

we're already massively odds on for a top 6 finish

"Massively"? http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/top-6-finish

Even so I don't agree with the bookies atm. I think we're a little below evens.

Beg to differ, you have an extra years experience and a team that in the last 1/4 of the season were right up there with anybody. Vardy and Mahrez  now play to their strengths, Albrighton is getting regular games and the central midfield pairing of DD and Kante  suit our style of play perfectly, throw in a couple of steady full backs with a wily old fox of a manager and we are a big improvement on last season over all.

We are much better but simply being much better won't be enough to win the title. I'm unconvinced the significant strides forward we've made have made us a team that will compete for first position.

I have been relaxed, in the build up to the Chelsea game, posting this game will not put or set any markers, to the rest of our seasons hope, dreams or chances.

We could lose to Chelsea, then beat Everton and Liverpool, its that type of season .

If we keep any type of form through to January, We on fox-forum will be having discussions on a level, not even the gods could have imagined.

For the 1st time this season I want it to be Tuesday NOW..!!!

They have got nine first team players out injured though. Don't think we have got much top 4 depth.

We need most of our team to stay fully fit for the season to challenge the top 4. Hopefully that's what will happen though!

It's hard to pity them when they've spent as much as they have, and let many of their squad players go elsewhere (inevitable, of course, but the rate at which van Gaal cast them off exacerbates their problem).

Plus, our squad has some squeaky depth of its own.

I don't pity them. I'm just saying that I think their squad has more depth than ours when fully fit.

As it should be, though... To be fair, Bournemouth is dealing with a similar injury crisis and they're faring okay. Helps when there's actually a real squad ethic and ethos.

but surely thats when you prove what depth your squad has, when they are not all fully fit.

Any team losing their six first choice defenders will struggle. We certainly would. I don't care what Man Utd do, my only point was that their squad is deeper than ours. As it obviously should be.

If we win the next two, then that will be the first time I'd think we have a shout at top 4.   If we beat Chelsea and beat Everton, we would be 5 points clear on Saturday with 38, the next team down would have 33.  And as luck would have it, Man City face Arsenal on the Monday so more dropped points there for one or both.

I don't think anyone really thinks we will win the league, but Europe is becoming a possibility for sure.  What do we realistically need to finish in the euro places, 8 or 9 more wins and a handful of draws?  60 was enough last season for a euro spot .

I mean, even if we only go along now at a point a game (which is considered skin of the teeth survival form for most) we would hit 55, which on its own last season, would have been good enough for 9th.

I do.

So do I. I'm not just saying it because I'm a Leicester fan, we really are the best team in the league. Imagine being a fan of an opposing team, knowing you're playing Leicester City in your next game! No one is confident about taking points away from us and for good reason. We are four games away from playing everyone in the league and we have lost just once. It's not like we are unpredictable, teams just can't handle us, we're too good. I've read about different fans saying "just" close down Vardy and Mahrez and we'll beat them! It's a bit more difficult in reality, Mahrez had so much space against Swansea because they doubled up on Vardy and Vardy could have still got 3 goals himself. We are looking solid at the back now, our midfield is second to none and our attacking options are amazing! We're better than even most of us Leicester fans dare to believe too.

The longer we continue in this form and stay in contention for the title the more disappointed I'll be if we don't get at least top four. For example if we are in the top three or four by the end of January then I'd be mortified if we didn't qualify for the Champions League. I never thought I'd say that being a Leicester fan.

If any year could be ours (amazing thing to say), it's this one.

No club seems to want to win it! All the 'top clubs' have dropped points..All can look exceptional and poor in equal measure.

If you look at Man City and Arsenal..They still have to negotiate the latter rounds of the Champs League which will incur injury and fatigue.

It's so bloody wide open!

Win tonight and we are looking the real deal!
