Could this be our year

Recommended Posts

I don't post hear often (one day I won't say that) but it really could be our year.

Spurs beaten at home and looked clueless against Newcastle for large portions of the game.

Liverpool scraped a draw at home to West Brom.

Man Utd look like they wont become title challengers any time soon.

Man City by all accounts very lucky to get a win at home to Swansea.

Arsenal looking good but with Champions League to come in the New Year, that may stretch them.

With a win on Monday we would go 9 points clear of Tottenham in 5th, just let that sink in a moment, that means we need to loose 4 or 3 and a draw and four of the inconsistent teams mentioned above have to win 4 to go above us.

I know we have a long way to go yet and if we finish in the top 10 this season I will be over the moon but can't help but think that things are just falling into place this season for Leicester or Crystal Palace or someone of that type to upset the big boys.

This is a squad that finished 14th last season and hasn't changed much over the summer. I find it too much of a stretch to say that this team could win the league. My eyes are on Spurs, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool. Win the next two games and I think I'd say we're odds on for a top six finish which would be an unprecedented achievement.

Hold on a minute, we would find ourselves stretched by potential injuries and any loss of form. If we are still in this sort of position in February with our squad intact and a few high end additions to the squad, then we'll talk. I'd say at the moment we are as likely to win the league as Chelsea are to be relegated.

Agreed!

I think we should buy a couple of players in January to cover ourselves... but I still believe our depth is better than what people make out, look at Man U for example you could easily argue we have better depth than they do.

It was annoying to see Man City hit an injury time winner but it's been a great weekend for us if our target is Champions League football.

Man Utd and Spurs lose and Liverpool draw in games they would all have expected to win against relegation candidate.

Win tomorrow and we go nine points clear of fifth.

I'm of the 'one game at a time' ilk but it just seems natural to think what could be in just 6 months time when the season will conclude. crazy that we're still in contention now and it's making me more anxious, excited, nervous for tomorrow night!

Well that's already happened to Man Utd.

I'd say we're as likely to win the league as they are.

Beg to differ, you have an extra years experience and a team that in the last 1/4 of the season were right up there with anybody. Vardy and Mahrez  now play to their strengths, Albrighton is getting regular games and the central midfield pairing of DD and Kante  suit our style of play perfectly, throw in a couple of steady full backs with a wily old fox of a manager and we are a big improvement on last season over all.

This! No more talk of winning the league please, pretty please, seriously!

Yes agree! It will not happen. I was talking about Europe. Early days but I think we could be in the running by the skin of our teeth.

Unbelievably Chelsea will only be 4 wins off 4th if they beat us tomorrow. As much as I hate to say it, midweek could have really kickstarted their season. Most likely scenario is that in 10 games time they are right back up there after a run of victories. Potentially above us by then too. Let's hope not.

We actually have squad depth. No doubt our current 11 is our strongest but we have players to come in, in every position that can do a job and I'd rate as good PL players. Man United don't have the same depth and so I don't think a few injuries will massively affect our chances.

The other encouring thing for me is that we have not played well I'm all games and still got results.Villa, Stoke and Soton are clear examples. We have got results in games we have been second best. That's a very good sign. Another factor is our fitness and team desire. Everyone is clued up and everyone is willing to fight. Not one member of the squad is not committed. The team spirit and atmosphere must be electric.

Obviously other teams have better quality, but we have a better team spirit, togetherness and desire. It really comes down to what will prevail. But make no mistake, we are a quality side and we have very good players in our side. We have the ability to cause an upset and at least finish top four. It will need a massive effort, but we have the depth, fitness, quality and desire to do it. Make no mistake

It really can. Tempting fate is one big myth in all honesty. Everyone knows it deep down. We're rightfully where we are.

The penny is beginning to really drop with people that these top sides are to be got at.
