The only reason I can think of is the money.

It's hard for young players to break in there just because of the sheer number of signings they make. I have to agree with @@richm77 here.

I can't speak for Miazga. But if money isn't the issue, I'm fairly sure a 20-year-old defender that's about to get sold would be better off going somewhere where he would get playing time without jumping through these hoops. If he develops to that next level, he'll wind up on a Chelsea-type team anyway and make money off the transfer. If he gets crowded out at Stamford Bridge, he could get let go for peanuts.

No guarantee he would play more here. If you look at the amount of playing time youngsters have had for us and Chelsea this season, I would say they have played younger players more actually. Zouma is 21 and playing almost every week. Rahman, Kenedy and Loftus-Cheek have also played more than our youngsters too. Dodoo has only really played in the league cup, Chilwell in the FA Cup. Gray has had about the same.

Not defending Chelsea but just want to make sure facts are considered

That's fair, but Chelsea have a lot more youngsters than Leicester. As for my post, I wasn't considering Leicester at all as a specific alternate move for Miazga (or Miazga-types). I'm just writing in general terms about other clubs that may be on par with or held in a little higher regard than a potential loan destination. In Miazga's case, reports from the US suggest several Premier League clubs were interested in his services, so he may well have chosen Chelsea over a club that would be more ready to give him first team playing time.

Sorry Jord, didn't mean to pick on you, was more of a follow on of the conversation and the following posts after yours too. Would agree they have more talent on the bench and two of the three were pricey youngsters in Zouma and Kenedy.

Have you seen Mizaga play much? I barely watch any MLS nowadays! Had a season ticket in Houstin in 2007 and 2008 but then stopped going. I got another in 2010 for 10 games for the new stadium but it's too damn hot to go to games here!

Miazga has rarely failed to impress me. I know MLS wasn't exactly known for defensive prowess last year, but I'd certainly put Miazga among the top 3 defenders in the league last season.

He's phenomenal in winning balls in the air. The only thing I see in him that could be a weakness is sometimes he goes in really hard in tackles, but he's young enough to learn how to win balls cleverly without committing fouls. His ceiling is very high.

I'm still sour after this one at Yankee Stadium

You'd be mad to go to Chelsea where you'll only be loaned out anyway. He should come to Leicester and play regularly and blossom.

Or you should know the differences between the two players, the phases of their careers, and the expectations surrounding their transfers

NY v v cold at the moment, so Leicester might not be such a turn-off. With ageing CBs, we need to develop someone for the longer term.

So is Leicester buddy

Not even confirmed as a Chelsea player yet and Chelsea already linked with John stones and a host of other top centre backs, so off on loan he goes I guess possibly back to New York ??

Anybody else think it may be worth a cheeky bid for Gary Cahill?? Only played twice under Hiddink since he came in and will want games for the Euros? Hardly going to be an unattractive move considering our current league position compared to theirs?

I thought it was fairly obvious that that was a joke but perhaps not.

Why would you sign for Chelsea if you were a hungry young player, last count they had 30 young hungry players out on loan, plus ones that moved on due to lack of playing time - Bruma Bertrand and lakaku and the highly rated Patrick bamford probably will go out on loan again. Seems like another Young carrer going to waste

Is Lakaku any good? Get him on loan from Chelsea next season?
