Guest Col city fan Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 In an interview on sky he said" I owe everything to Leicester" seems reasonably clear? And he does of course. Vardy is a great lad for the club, without a doubt. But again, do you think he would stay if we hadn't doubled his salary AND a really big club had come in for him? Personally, I don't. I simply don't believe there is such a thing as loyalty in football. There are players who seem very happy at certain clubs and I'm sure Vardy fits that particular bill. But don't be fooled. He's happy to stay because we have just given him a very lucrative new contract and made him a very rich young man. If we looked like going down this season and someone else came in for him, he'd go. Given that scenario, he'd not be saying what he's saying.

We would get rid at the first opportunity, that's just football these days.
goose2010 Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Linked with Slimani again in the paper today for 20mill and Musa for 23.6mill.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Linked with Slimani again in the paper today for 20mill and Musa for 23.6mill. Certainly the sort of players I'd like us to sign this summer.
MrSpaM Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Ibrahimovic says that he is looking for a one year gig in the Prem before heading Stateside. Wouldn't he look good ! Didn't he move to inter because he wanted to play for the underdogs? Still, can't imagine what his wages would be like way out of our league I'm guessing
polarbear Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 No problem mate, relax and enjoy the season we don't know if this will happen again in our lifetime Fair enough, it just seemed you were seeing it as a foregone conclusion. But I do agree the backroom staff need to be identifying possible targets for whatever the outcome, and I'm sure they are. But speculation on who are our targets seems premature considering the distance to the finishing line. The odd thing is, I've been confident all season, as early as November I backed us to finish top four, even had an each way on us winning it then too. But the nearer we get to the end, the closer we get to actually achieving something truly remarkable, I wouldn't be surprised if the players the fans and the management feel exactly the same apprehension at some point to what I feel at the moment. I don't know whether it's fear or excitement, maybe both. Every time I think of possible outcomes to this season, I genuinely become overwhelmed with emotion. I'm not kidding, I'm like a neurotic hag on the rag whose just dropped her last tampon down the toilet. I just can't control it. So forgive my outburst mate its the bloody nerves kicking in.

TheLittleBigMan Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 The clubs always looking to improve the squad and I would imagine they have an eye on next season, but there's a while to go yet. Yes it looks pretty nailed on for C/L but whether we finish 1st or 4th will have a bearing plus player availability and the competitiveness of the market at the top end. Also, what players will want/need to be moved on. You would have to be looking top end for a striker, right back is a position that needs a look but to say 6 or 8 or whatever number isn't something the club would be saying at this stage.
Wizerud Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Hard to fathom some people wanting to get rid of Schlupp. There were times last year and even this season when he was playing that he looked like one of our most dangerous players. Granted, he's not suited to play every match but those games he is he looks hard to stop at times. Plus, he's still very young, cheap, quite versatile, fast as fvch and his playing style suits us perfectly. And he loves us. How can you think about getting rid of him? Remember when Arsenal were sniffing around him? They're not completely stupid.
PaulW Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Got it in one, mate. For all the furore about City and what they're achieving every one of those players knows that the chop is waiting should they not perform. After the Arsenal game the stick-the-boot-in boys were vociferous in their criticism of Wasilewski and Stretton and one or two criticised Ranieri for the subs he used. What price loyalty with 'fans' like that? Being loyal doesn't mean you give up any right to criticise and express your views......we do live in a free society!
simon789us Posted 23 February 2016 Posted 23 February 2016 Don't think we will buy any big names just some up and coming players in the kante mold maybe go back for musa

onekeithweller Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Is it better for Rashfords development to join a Champions League club on the up like us or to stay where he is and probably get more game time?
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Agree. Other teams hate his pace. Again.... the important thing about playing Schlupp is that the opposition know they have to mark him tightly. His pace and strength mean you can't leave him on one on ones...He'll generally win in this scenario. What this does is to free up space for our other players to exploit. Schlupp can be essential in this respect, especially later in a game when the opposition are tiring. I'd definitely not sell him. He's a great squad player.
