richardsfoxes Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/leicester-prepare-splash-cash-summer-7389875 I know its the mirror, i wonder what positions he feels need improving and how many signings we need.
NewEnglandFox Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I like being the money ball team that puts emphasis on team over individual talent. They were a couple of quotes by Wenger about Kanté last week about how snooty fans of big clubs are against cheaper signings. As long as we can make tactical <£5m buys the better in my opinion.

We might have to pay a bit more for them now that everyone knows PL clubs will be a lot better off, but I hope we do still go for the same sort of players - it's clearly working.
GaelicFox Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Why break a system that has worked Maybe a couple of marque signings
StanSP Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 no direct quotes from anyone at Leicester within that Mirror article. Obviously we'll spend but we won't 'splash the cash' just because the money is there to burn (which is what the article hints at).
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Have we also hijacked the 'where will we finish' poll beneath the story - over 40% have hit 1st at this stage.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I feel we need around 3-5 signings this summer with probable Champions League football on the way if we qualify to play in the competition next season. Not wholesale investment but just enough additions who will improve the current squad we have. A few CL experienced players or players of that calibre would certainly improve the squad and if they have played at the CL level before their experience could be valuable to both the players we have now and if the new signings were to play for us in the competition. A few new additions would create a great balance with what we have. As well as the signings for the Champions League, having those players to participate in the BPL would be important too. I'd be hopeful of another very good season next campaign if we invest well and keep the players we've got.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 We were willing to spend 20mill on a player in Jan so it wouldn't surprise me to see our transfer record smashed in the summer... possibly need 4 maybe 5 in quality and to add the depth required for the extra games
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 If we do start to spend some serious dosh, it's going to be strange seeing some of the established players maybe starting to be replaced. For instance, Big Wes has become synonymous with Leicester City but at some point we'll seriously have to look at bringing through another centre back. Same with Huth. Christian Fuchs has become a real favourite of mine, but he's probably only got another season or so at his very best. etc..... It's looking ever more likely we are going to make Champs league! Yet this will probably only speed up the process of a squad overhaul. Given this scenario, I could see Inler, King, James, Ulloa...All probaby moving on. What have I just said! King leaving! With success comes probable change I guess.
Dan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Keep building along the lines we are, although get a bigger squad, would be my view. Europe will hit us next year, important to be able to rotate. We definitely need some younger defenders.
49er Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 In addition to the money coming in from finishing in the top four, champions league etc further amounts can/will be raised by selling the following: Simpson - £3m. Has played well above expectations, but not good enough for the level we are aspiring to. King - £2m. A good servant, and thanks for the memories Andy but we need something better to progress to the next stage. Inler - £3m. Hasn't worked out. Not really suited to our style. Benny - £4m. Ditto. Moore - £0.5m. Thanks Liam, but you are out of your depth. Dyer - back to Swansea. Best years are behind him. Ulloa - £7m. Good first season, but off the space second time round. Kramaric - £6m. A bit like Inler. He's not suited to our fast counter attacks. Wazilewski - contract not renewed. Thanks big man, but now time to move on. James - £2m. A little harsh, but need to free up funding for a more experienced player to come in. Total - £32m Our requirements: - back up keeper - quality centre half (possibly two) - quality right back - pacey winger - central midfielder x2 - centre forward x 2

49er Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 She you'd ship out 10 players and replace them with 8 or 9? If we need a couple more, I'm sure that the money will be there. The real issue is having to be ruthless and understand what we require to go to the next level.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 If we need a couple more, I'm sure that the money will be there. The real issue is having to be ruthless and understand what we require to go to the next level. You could argue the existing squad and their mentality have taken us to that level... ripping out a major part of that (it's all to easy to dismiss what the non-playing squad members offer behind the scenes) and them trying to replace them is easier said than done. I'd suggest 5 in at the most, with maybe a couple out. 12 months on, you may find someone who was lower down in the pecking order hits next season running and is transformed.
49er Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I would like to see Dzeko being one of the centre forwards and his colleague from Roma, Pjanic, filling one of the midfield slots. Aboubakar from Porto would be nice to have. Dragovic as a central defender and Seamus Coleman at right back. Wijnaldum in midfield and Sissoko from Newcastle possibly filling the winger's berth.
Dan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I'd be disappointed if we sold Simpson for three million. He's had a very good season. I honestly don't think we've got a chance at any one of them, barring the Newcastle two and I don't see the fuss with Sissoko either. Wijnaldum's a decent shout although he'll be pricey if they survive.

I think that Sissoko is a pacey, powerful winger that would be suited to our style. That said, there may be better options.

MC Prussian Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Why break a system that has worked Maybe a couple of marque signings I'd suggest François Marque.
FireFox Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 King ain't going anywhere. (Same with Schlupp. Moore though, who knows.) We lose him, we lose a man in our UEFA squad.

HankMarvin Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 lets be honest its a journalist with no story, basically thinking logically to get print!!
MPH Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I was told that if we get champions league footy, we will go back in and pay the asking price for Musa...
