Preferably on Saturday morning which is asking a lot I know. Any Reccomendations? Talking Aylestone sort of area but happy to travel wherever.

If it fails they will give you the sheet with the faults and if the work needs doing you book it in for another day. They were great with me and saved all the old parts and did it at a very reasonable price
Parafox Posted 5 May 2016 Posted 5 May 2016 Kwik Fit tried to rip me off for four new brake discs on a car that was 6 years old with 50,000 on the clock. Independent garage said they had at least 20,000 miles left. I had an MOT and service there also. When I checked the oil myself it wasn't even showing on the dipstick. It appeared they'd drained the old oil but failed to top it up with new. I would never use Kwik Fit again

I've not been for a few years, I usually take it to the garage, let them do a service and pre MOT and they take it there. Used to be an asian bloke though.

They are all shit, just make it clear the repairs won't be done by them and they won't have as much incentive to rip you off.

That's the council-run site - bit pricey, but they don't do repairs, so they have no axe to grind. It's just off Dysart Way.

By law these test centres (though not taxi or Crown stations) must be open to the general public. As they generally only carry out tests and don't do repairs (always check), there's no incentive for mechanics to find faults that don't exist. Centres we've visited tell us this guide gave them a fourfold increase in members of the public visiting. They said they were grateful as it secured their jobs at a time when councils are cutting back. stez Posted 4 September 2017 Posted 4 September 2017 Those living in the Melton end of the shire could consider Spittlegate Garage in Grantham. I've used them for years and are very trustworthy. (Also my car passed its MOT the last week)
