Red Squirrel Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 On numerous threads you see many people who believe we are still a relatively small club - I think it is time to put that into perspective! We are in a different league and the all signs are for a long time to come. Leicester City are now one of the richest and most watched team in the world. There was a relevant article in the Mail on 16/5 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3578944/Leicester-richer-AC-Milan-bigger-New-York-Yankees-examine-six-things-went-right-recently-crowned-Premier-League-winners.html I'm sure we will retain our status next season and thus become become the 12th or 13th largest club in the world with a predicted revenue of up to £260M. We are one of the most watched teams on TV in the world and this interest will persist. We now have supporters all over the globe and that interest is unlikely to wane. Apart from our own fantastic turnout of 250,000 at Victoria Park, 1,000,000 people turned out in Bangkok. Could any other club do the same? Our owners are extremely shrewd and the value of this success to their King Power brand is massive. Hundreds of millions of pounds I suspect. Right now is the time to exploit the unique position we are in. I'm sure Vichai is thinking big even if some of our fans aren't. We have Champions League status and the financial muscle to attract top talent. Walsh won't always have to look for the undiscovered gems to sustain us now. When the plans for the Stadium are determined don't be surprised by the scope of the ambition. We are in financial fact a big club, we can become even bigger and I expect the owners to capitalise on this and the time is NOW I wonder if whomever is advising Jamie Vardy is taking this into account - I suspect not. Something big has happened to us and we'd better get used to it. Leicester are richer than AC Milan and even bigger than New York Yankees... and here we examine the six things that went right for recently-crowned Premier League winners · Claudio Ranieri led Leicester to historic Premier League crown this season · They are on course to be one of the richest 15 football clubs in the world · Next season could see English champions leapfrog Italian giants AC Milan · Leicester were No 24 on world's rich list for 2014-15 with income of £104m · Champions League football next term will also boost the club's income · We examine six things that went right and why it might be hard to match By NICK HARRIS FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY PUBLISHED: 22:37, 7 May 2016 | UPDATED: 13:01, 8 May 2016 Leicester's 5,000-1 title miracle has put them on course to be one of the richest 15 football clubs in the world next season, leapfrogging some of the game's most stellar names — AC Milan included, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. Leicester were No 24 on the world's rich list for 2014-15 with income of £104million. For the current campaign MoS analysis shows they will climb into the top 20 with income of about £125m. But next season they will reap the rewards of the Premier League's massively increased TV deals and the Champions League. Analysis by the MoS shows that, even with a top-eight finish next term and group-stage elimination in Europe, their income should surge to £210m. Back-to-back wonder-seasons with a top-four finish and progress to the Champions League knockout stages could take that to £260m. To put this into context, Milan had income of 'only' £151.5m last season to be the world's 14th richest club and will make not much more this season and perhaps a little more next season. Milan, by their own standards, are enduring a rough few seasons. But they are 18-times champions of Italy, seven-times European Cup winners (only Real Madrid with 10 have more) and are a genuinely global brand. And next season, whether by £210m to £160m or by £260m to £160m, little Leicester City are going to put them well and truly in the shade. Our forecast will make Leicester about the 12th or 13th richest club in the world next season, barring a catastrophic collapse and relegation. The Premier League's worldwide popularity also means Leicester are already vying to be among the biggest 10 most-watched teams in any sport after the attention this season has brought them — bigger even than some storied mega-teams like baseball's New York Yankees. From one of the least-watched Premier League teams last season (using global TV data seen by this newspaper) to the sixth-best watched this season, Leicester are closing on the league's five 'global brand' teams — Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City — at least for the tail end of this glorious season
Koke Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 We're a mid sized club on par with the likes of Southampton and West Brom. Our title win is just that, a title win. Blackburn won the league in 1995 and finished 7th the following season. We're not a big club. Big clubs don't sell their top scorer to Arsenal for a can of coke and a bag of crisps.

The Premier League/ship back when Blackburn won it and how it is today is not comparable. The extra TV and winners revenue is one thing I could argue with but the accessibility of the league is what counts. Gone are the days where people would congregate in a hut to watch the premier league with a dodgy satellite set up or desperately wait for the results on teletext or grab the next days paper to find the result, (the paper often days out of date across the globe) When Blackburn won the Premier League the worldwide amount of internet users was less than 40 million When Leicester won it 40% of the whole world use the Internet! over 3 billion people. When Blackburn won it less than 1% of the world! The fact that our name is cemented in every corner of all known life in the universe is priceless. Blackburn's story and Leicester's can not be compared.

We are what we are, a team comparable to that of your Southamptons, West Broms etc. We just happened to win the league. Not through luck, but through quality. We obviously have had a hell of a lot of exposure from it but it doesn't change what we are. This looks to be proven over the next couple of months when we may lose players left right and centre to other clubs. Money in the bank and income means nothing if we can't keep hold of decent players. Its just number on a balance sheet which makes the owners richer.
m4DD0gg Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 If all that is the case then i expect no reason for anyone to leave considering they are all financially motivated.
st albans fox Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 I had some Chinese suppliers in on Friday. In the part of china they are from, you rarely see any PL kits when you are out and about. It's not like Shanghai or Beijing. when you talk about football, apart from the big four teams, they know no one. They told me that they were to travel up to leicester to see a prospective client. I told them that it might be a waste of time but the boss lady was adamant that they were going because she had to visit the club shop to buy some merchandise for her kids!!!!!!! They love our story! it proves that anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind to it and have team spirit. This season is not just about football. Vardy leaving would actually be a kick in the teeth for lots of people around the world.
Finnegan Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 More people watch football globally than rounders and Milan have been shit and skint for the best part of a decade. Non article.

We are not mid-sized club at all. Blackburn won the PL but spent big on big names, Shearer, Sutton etc, and only then won on the last day of season when UTD failed to beat West Ham. Leicester won with a team full of players that nobedy wanted and a team sprit second to none. We prooved that money doesn't buy you the PL. We were odds on to go down but beat them and won the PL. That's the story. The whole world jumped on and enjoyed the ride. We will always have those supporters now. Other teams will want to do a 'Leicester' We need to keep to keep going, a bigger stadium, a bigger squad and players that want to stay. I really want Vardy to stay, He is part of our history now as well the rest of the team, He could go to Arsenal but will be behind Henry, Bergkamp, Wright as well as numerous others. At Leicester he will be known as part of the team that created the run when we lift the ECL trophy next season by beating Barcelona in the final, 6-0. (Still Dreaming) So going back to the original post, we are a big club and will get bigger. Lets carry on and enloy the ride

Shit and skint however still one of the great names in European football and one most players would rather have on their CV than Leicester. To say we are a bigger club is a bit of joke if your just basing it on the bank account. You dont become a bigger club with money, it takes years of winning silverwear and creating legends generation after generation. Remember football is a ****le sport and as quickly as we have built ourselves to this position we could lose it just as fast.
goose2010 Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 Who isn't bigger than New York Yankees Well Jay-z makes a yankee hat more famous than a yankee can

You'd have to be an absolute moron to want to be at Milan over any top half prem club at the moment. They really are that dire. History is irrelevant in football. If your criteria for "massive" was all that mattered, Leeds would be attracting better players than us. So would Villa.

AC Milan were implemented in the 2006 bribary scandel and were deducted points if I remember. So they also fell. If Leicester get relagated next season we will still be a bigger club then when we got promoted. We have just created history
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 I do agree with you, we are a relatively big club with a good, proud history but I think the reason we are perceived as small is because of the quantity and quality of teams who are in the PL. I'm talking Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, West Ham - we are not on their level just yet and for those clubs perspectives, they've seen a new club come to the top four for the first time in many years, and actually become Champions of England within two years of promotion to the top flight. Perhaps it's because we are the 'newcomer' to the top four, understandably it could give others the impression of a seemingly small club entering the highest levels of English football. You are right though, we have made major history, and we're much bigger for this success story. The key is now - sustained success/silverware/high finishes/regular european competitor/stadium expansion. Those key features I've mentioned will continue to cement ourselves as an established big football club in the Premier League, not only for now, but for the future generations of the club.

How much we make of it is down to how we perform on and off the pitch management and accountancy wise. We are not guaranteed long term stability in fact if we live to our means and don't back it up on the pitch It could ruin the club.....again.
