Dodgy Bob Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 What's modern football, Tony Pulis? Sam Alladyce? Shaun Dyche?. What about Wenger? He can pick a winner? They're all football professionals rather than journalists so any of them would be progress. I didn't really mean to say modern football, I meant more in touch with football as one point, and a bit younger as a 2nd point. I just don't think an 80 year old journalist should be having any say over the next England manager. If it was up to me it would be put to a public vote, but failing that, just somebody who has been involved in professional football and who still has their own teeth would be a massive improvement.
Webbo Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Greg Dyke is 69, not 80, and is retiring soon. He's chairman of the FA, he answers to board that contains members from all parts of the game.
Leicesterpool Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Unless we win the tournament I can't see any reason why Woy should stay, with the squad of players we have he's too old hat. The job is screaming out for someone young, with fresh ideas. No matter what nationality he is. Even though it would have been controversial Koeman would have been a good candidate if he hadn't gone to Everton.
Stadt Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 we were fourth favourites pre-tournament so is reaching the semis really an achievement (it is but nothing remarkable)? It's a gamble but I'd like Howe, if he can get Steve Cook and Josh King playing that brand of football surely he can get the England squad to.

I actually wouldn't begrudge the idea of Howe getting the job, be a gamble as you say but what he's achieved at Bournemouth cannot be ignored. If Steve McClaren once got the job then surely Howe's good enough.
Poznan34 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 If we get to the semis he deserves it. Then maybe Gary Neville taking over after the 2018 WC? Not sure what other candidates there are.
Leicesterpool Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 Another name to throw in the ring and this would be a long shot considering he's only been at West Ham year but how about Slaven Bilic? He's got experience in managing a national side, his home nation of course Croatia and did a great job. Had great year with West Ham transformed football to attacking style of play and looks where its took them compared to them under Allardyce. Very passionate guy, likes using young players credited a lot while the Croatian coach for using a lot of young players, plus with the youngsters we've got it'll be just be right.

Matt Posted 20 June 2016 Author Posted 20 June 2016 I've had a change of heart, after that amazing, exciting game I want him to stay, loved that game! Such an exciting brand of football! (My sarcasm tends to go over people's head....i'm being sarcastic!)
Hollism Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 If you were Eddie Howe, would you actually take the England job? I'd rather stay at Bournemouth.
DB11 Posted 20 June 2016 Posted 20 June 2016 England manager Roy Hodgson is only guaranteed a new contract if he reaches Euro 2016 semi-finals. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/19/england-manager-roy-hodgson-is-only-guaranteed-a-new-contract--i/  Unbelievable. There was me thinking there might be some hope he'd be sacked post tournament (Didn't actually realise his contract is over at the end of the tournament, I was thinking he'd have to be sacked) and according to that article, no, they're actually considering giving the twat a new contract. The FA needs a total overhaul. I suppose Greg Dyke going at the end of month might improve things slightly, hopefully the new bloke who comes in has other opinions and see Woy for the idiot he is. What more hope do you need? As if we're ever actually going to reach the semi finals lol
Guest FriendlyRam Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Makes me happy we've got Nigel Pearson even more after watching that shower huff and puff last night. Kane and Vardy both sold short, you can only do so much playing around those idiots, Henderson can't pass, Wilshere is garbage, Wooney is past it and past caring. Drinkwater??? oh he's sat at home. Woy should get another contract because the FA and him deserve each other.. and lets be honest none of us will give a flying f*** once the proper football starts again, they can push this c*** but most only care about their clubs now, and its torture enough watching the rams bottle it every season never mind being bothered about England as well. International football is summer filler now imo
Royston. Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 am i totally off the mark suggesting claudio would be the fans choice if hodgson was to die lose his job? would claudio fancy it?
filbertway Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 am i totally off the mark suggesting claudio would be the fans choice if hodgson was to die lose his job? would claudio fancy it? I'd be shocked if he fancied international football again after Greece.
Tielemans63 Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 I'm beginning to think that maybe the FA don't have a coherent succession plan? It's weird because they've done so much to develop English coaching talent, there's 5 English managers in the Premier League now!
