Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 John Mann has just shared this saying it's being passed around by Labour MP's via e-mail, looks like he's down to 11 allies in the party.
Spiritwalker Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Personally couldn't bare a return to the labour days. I will always vote for the working mans party, therefore, will always vote tory. I think Alf Garnett was the last person I heard refer to the Tories as the working mans party.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I still can't believe Angela Eagle is the head of this revolt though, the laughable failure that this revolt has been has probably lost moderate voters anyway. How are these going to run the country if they can't usurp a lovely old man from the chair like, they probably should've had a bit more of a plan before they took a shit with their clothes on

Christoph Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Angela Eagle though? Why her? Surely they could have found anyone else. I can see her being ousted very quickly if she worms her way to leadership.
Webbo Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Angela Eagle though? Why her? Surely they could have found anyone else. I can see her being ousted very quickly if she worms her way to leadership. She's a good soldier, she sacrificing herself to get rid of Corbyn. I seriously doubt she'll be leading the Labour party at the next election.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Corbyn comdems the threats and brick through the window of Eagle, says he has had death threats as well this past week. Did this happen when Redwood challenged Major?
purpleronnie Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Corbyn comdems the threats and brick through the window of Eagle, says he has had death threats as well this past week. Did this happen when Redwood challenged Major? Nope everyone was too bored.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I almost think Corbyn is trolling now, he made an appearance at a Cuban solidarity event last night, no statement on the new Prime Minister, no statement on the Labour leadership contest but found time to show his support for an oppressive foreign regime. It says on the back of every Labour membership card that the Labour Party is a democratic socialist one. There's nothing democratic about Cuba. He isn't trolling, he's been that out of touch since he was elected.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Labour NEC decides to have secret ballot on whether Mr Corbyn should be on the leadership ballot. Probably sensible given anyone who publicly backs him now faces routine threats, intimidation and occasionally acts of violence. Publicly against him sorry*
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 going to be interesting how many members are lost if Corbyn isn't even on the ballot.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Probably lose 300,000 - competent leader and they could gain 2 million voters though. This week could have done more damage to him than ever, the nation can now see its not only hard left politically, but prepared to use violence, threats and intimidation to anyone who opposes it.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Probably lose 300,000 - competent leader and they could gain 2 million voters though. This week could have done more damage to him than ever, the nation can now see its not only hard left politically, but prepared to use violence, threats and intimidation to anyone who opposes it. I genuinely think it'd put us in a better position. The harsh reality is that many of those who've joined purely for Corbyn are dead wood, doing nothing to actually campaign for the party but here purely to cheer lead for Corbyn and threatening to deselect existing MPs to replace with Momentum puppets. Donors have stopped donating in their droves for months, and the party would struggle to fund a snap election campaign. Secondly, the polls are abysmal reading for Labour, with 62% of people saying May would be a better PM and only 18% plumping for Corbyn and YouGov polls suggesting that even the trade union members think he's doing a bad job. It's no exaggeration to say that the future of the Labour Party may hinge on the outcome of this meeting - with neither outcome looking likely to be clean or accepted by many in the party.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 No exaggeration at all, this election will decide whether or not Labour remain as an opposition or become a fringe movement only supported by overgrown student types, trade unionists and young fanatics. Given how much of the money donated was Jewish I'm not surprised funding is drying up, no one of that religion in the right mind would fund a party led by that lot. Michael Crick saying this could go on for hours.
Alf Bentley Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Interesting news about my local MP, if true: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/labour-leadership-contest-live-jeremy-8406188 Would certainly explain why Mr. Ashworth has stayed on in the shadow cabinet despite not being a Corbynista - and why he's not replied to my email calling for Corbyn to go. If true, he's played a cunning hand.... 'Last-minute bid to oust key NEC member'Jeremy Corbyn’s team made a last-minute bid to remove a key shadow cabinet member from the NEC, two Labour sources have told the Mirror. The sources, from two separate wings of the party, said Jonathan Ashworth was told he would be ditched from his spot as one of three shadow frontbench reps in today’s crunch meeting. But the bid to remove him was blocked by the shadow cabinet as a whole when it met this morning, it was claimed. Mr Ashworth has a pivotal position as one of just a handful of Labour MPs not to resign from the front bench. He is one of only nine MPs on the NEC and would have lost the position, just like Angela Eagle lost hers, if he quit the shadow cabinet. One of the sources claimed Mr Ashworth received an e-mail from the leader’s office telling him he would be ditched last night. A spokesman for Jeremy Corbyn declined to comment on the claims, saying it was a private meeting.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 The little scoundrel, it works out though like you say . The plotters would have had to have someone working on the inside as well. They'll probably be a brick through his window by morning.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Wow. He's only gone and done it, Corbyn on the ballot to face Angela Eagle. This could be the end of the Labour party as an electoral force, mass deselections surely on the way after he wins.
Webbo Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Tbf, although I don't like or respect Corbyn it's only fair that he has a place on the ballot paper. I don't think keeping him out of the vote would settle anything either.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 This coup couldn't have been more labour, they've surely got to find someone other than Eagle to run against him. She'll get Liz Kendall numbers
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Anyone hear the interviewing outside on Sky? Beyond parody. Corbyn: "One at a time please, this is a new politics, stop talking over each other" Journo: "What about MP's worries about your competence as Leader?" Supporter: "**** off, you Tory willy puller!"
Spiritwalker Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Probably the right call by the NEC, let's just hope that many who voted for him last time realise now that he is a poor leader of the party, and would never be trusted by the electorate. As a pro-eu, middle ground socialist I don't feel like there's a party representing me at the moment
