Guest MattP Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Needs a thread of it's own. Corbyn has sacked Hilary Benn for plotting against him, Heidi Alexander has now resigned in protest. Sure they'll be more tomorrow.
johnny the fox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 I said from day one the man has a massive ego.. he will take the party down with him...he has made a career out of being the "principled rebel"..but the first real major test of his principles as leader he was found wanting.. he is a brexiter he has been anti Eu all his life... but he advocated remain.. he lied to his supporters and worse than that he lied to himself..how can anybody trust a word he says? Labour are a total shambles . irony is had he stuck to his principles he would be in a much stronger position now..
Webbo Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 On the news they're saying half the shadow cabinet will resign.
Guest MattP Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Anyone listen to the Corbynista blogger on Sky News? If Jezza died tomorrow they'd still claim he's on course to win in 2020.
Raj Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Listening to 5live this morning seems like Corbyn was actually a Brexiteer but decided as all the union's were remainers he chose that path. If that's fact then he's a spineless ****ing git
Footballwipe Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 He has to go, else Labour are even more toast than they already seemingly are. They need to get it done quickly too, a snap election while they're in this state would be a massacre
stripeyfox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Making Corbyn labour leader is a bit like us making Bernie manager. No one doubts his passion but he's a shit leader and they have zero chance of winning an election whilst he is at the helm. With the prospect of a snap election looming, they need to get rid. With a credible leader, they could end up in government.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Corbyn has always been a Euro Sceptic so he obviously wasnt going to be a strong remain campaigner. The referendum was always going to be his demise. With the turmoil in the Tory party too, whoever picks the right leader will be in charge for many terms to come. Personally, I think convincing David Milliband to come back would be the best bet. He really should have been the choice when Ed screwed him over. One thing is for sure, this is the most exciting political situation in our lifetime.

Guest MattP Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Diane Abbott to be promoted to shadow foreign secretary.
Webbo Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 How do Labour voters feel about Gisela Stuart for leader? I was very impressed with her and she's obviously more in tune with public opinion than the rest of the party.
The Doctor Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Listening to 5live this morning seems like Corbyn was actually a Brexiteer but decided as all the union's were remainers he chose that path. If that's fact then he's a spineless ****ing git Or alternatively he realised you could leave at any time so decided not to pursue leaving to further the ambitions of gove and boris, or he decided to compromise his own views to represent the views of the people he's supposed to represent. I'm not a massive fan of Corbyn, he's been far too limp as leader and not properly taken the tories to task, particularly while the were at war with the teachers and doctors, but acting like that conclusion: that he surrendered to the unions, is the only one possible is ridiculous.
johnny the fox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Diane Abbott to be promoted to shadow foreign secretary. que: the laurel and hardy theme ..
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Diane Abbott to be promoted to shadow foreign secretary. Pure racist.

That is totally wrong..the bulk of the people he was supposed to represent were / are for leave...he didn't "compromise" his views ..he lied to his own people.. and worse..he lied to himself...
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Blairites have been gunning for JC since he was elected. The fact is if it comes to a leadership election he will win it and they will be in the political wilderness with the rest of the centrists while progressive left politics gains more ground worldwide. Jeremy Corbyn has constantly said he will run a more democratic Labour Party and the democratic choice within the party, overwhelmingly, was to campaign to Remain in the EU. He isn't "dishonest" or "spineless" for accepting that decision by the majority. Absolute bollocks that he is at fault for the Leave vote when Alan Johnson and Hillary Benn ran the Labour campaign but I'm sure their fine with that when writing speeches to bomb Syrian children.

I was very impressed with her and she's obviously more in tune with public opinion than the rest of the party. On the basis of the EU debate no thanks. The majority of Labour voters just voted against what she wanted in one of the biggest decisions we've had as an electorate, she'd be a slightly off putting option for me. Having said that I just want somebody who is going to put as many Labour MPs in the House of Commons as possible. That's not Jeremy Corbyn obviously, whatever his reasoning and whatever you think of him ideologically, he's not going to appeal to the electorate. Difficult to feel anything other than pessimistic right now.
GaelicFox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Much needed Tony "Zionist" Blair and then later Ed milliband destroyed this once noble institution Corbyn is the copse in the coffin !!! Time to have the war , cull the communists and build a better party for a better country
GaelicFox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 The fact 4% of UKIP supporters voted to remain shows how ****ed up taht referendum was in terms of informing people properly
johnny the fox Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 to deny The labour heartlands corbyn is supposed to represent were enthusiastic remainers beggars belief...ukip supporters are made up of disaffected labour voters..millions of them..

Mark_w Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 to deny The labour heartlands corbyn is supposed to represent were enthusiastic remainers beggars belief...ukip supporters are made up of disaffected labour voters..millions of them.. He's saying that the majority of Labour voters voted remain because your original suggestion that, 'the bulk of the people he was supposed to represent were / are for leave' was completely inaccurate. Do you have to be from the north of England to count as a person?
The Doctor Posted 26 June 2016 Posted 26 June 2016 Surely he should have followed his OWN beliefs and NOT those of others???! We live in a representative democracy - a good politician represents the opinions of those he was elected to serve, even if he doesn't necessarily agree with them. to deny The labour heartlands corbyn is supposed to represent were enthusiastic remainers beggars belief...ukip supporters are made up of disaffected labour voters..millions of them.. And that's relevant to most labour voters (the people Corbyn is supposed to represent) voting remain how?
