m4DD0gg Posted 3 July 2016 Author Posted 3 July 2016 Wonder if he has one of these daft clauses in his contract.
AyewJoking Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Amartey, Drinkwater, King, Inler, James, Mendy, Kante lot of CM's in the know
AyewJoking Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 meant to cross our kante aswell but couldnt bring myself to do it
Raw Dykes Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Great news. Exciting signing. Obviously, I'm hoping he's been signed to replace Inler, and not N'golo. Woop woop thats da sound of nampalysWoop woop thats da sound of a beast Perfick! This had better catch on. Amartey, Drinkwater, King, Inler, James, Mendy, Kante lot of CM's Inler's been told he needs to find a new club hasn't he? I think he's been told he won't be in the 25 this coming season. I reckon James will be off, as well, whether sold or loaned out. Obviously we'll do well to keep Kante, n all.
Kendal Fox Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Great news along with musa as well onwards and upwards we are going to have a good mix of young and experienced players lets now take the champions league by storm? Wow! Is that looking close to a done deal then?
ThaiFox Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Great signing, lets hope he doesn't have a release clause. Yes he does...........Arsenal have already inquired
Hack Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Amartey, Drinkwater, King, Inler, James, Mendy, Kante lot of CM's Have you yet seem Amartey play CM for us? I haven't. Seems he has played right side RB or Winger when coming on last year. Yes I am sure he can play CM, but it looks like management see him covering other positions.
Hack Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 I hope he's not a replacement for Kante like others have already said Well if we need one, he looks to be the perfect replacement. Also hoping he is an addition rather than replacement.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Amartey, Drinkwater, King, Inler, James, Mendy, Kante lot of CM's Is Inler still here? If so, why?
Samilktray Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Is Inler still here? If so, why?Because he signed a contract with us for 3 years, 1 year ago.
GingerrrFox Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Seeing as it's very likely to be a 4-3-3 this season. Call me if I'm wrong but I don't know if we will see too much of Mendy and Drinkwater together. From watching them both, both Danny and "Papy" like to be on the ball and dictate the play. It will be interesting to see if it can work them playing together. After years of watching Danny play it's obvious he's prefers playing with a dog in midfield, like Kante or James and has struggled next to the likes of King, Cambiasso and Inler who enjoy a similar role to himself. Kante Drinkwater Amartey/Mendy (depending on if they can get it functioning)
whoareyaaa Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Glad we finally got this over the line, this bloke can't half pass a ball. Welcome Mendy!
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Excited by this signing - he could be a revelation. Based on the videos (dangerous, I know!) he would suit our style perfectly. As has been said, his long range passing looks phenomenal and you can imagine a Vardy or Musa speeding onto those balls. He obviously plays deep, so presumably can make decent portion of the tackles and interceptions that Ngolo did last season. If Kanté goes, I think we have a great replacement who'd work equally well with Drinkwater; if Kanté stays, we now have excellent cover (possibly for him or Drinky). It looks like another first rate purchase and another example of us doing what won us the league - acquiring players who complement what we have. It would have been easy with our new money and on the back of winning the league to go and buy a series of names; glad to see us sticking with the formula. Of course, it could go tits up - any signing could - but it's signings like this that will do more to sustain us than bringing in a Totti, Zlatan or similar.
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 What makes this a fantastic signing is it'll be no problem to give him his own chant. Wendy + Mandy? My money's on Barry Manilows
Austin Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Oh Mendy, oh you came and you played with Ngolo and you made sure he stayed, oh Mendy... Can't think of a second part..... ....?
shade Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Oh Mendy, oh you came and you played with Ngolo and you made sure he stayed, oh Mendy... Can't think of a second part..... ....? you came as the agent for vardy, and made sure he got paid.
Austin Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Windy The Association Lyrics Who's running round the streets of the city Smiling at everybody he sees? Who's reaching out to Play with Ngolo? Everyone knows it's Mendy! And Mendy has silky skills Can play a long pass that kills And Mendy has legs to sprint Around the pitch (Around the pitch) Around the pitch (Around the pitch) Someone make something better but using that song .. It's "windy - the association" people will probably be more familiar with it from Breaking Bad.
True Blue Fox Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Well if we need one, he looks to be the perfect replacement. Also hoping he is an addition rather than replacement. Did we not try to sign him last season if I remember correctly. From what I've read a watched he looks another great signing
English Nicois Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Hi all, as a season ticket holder at OGC Nice for the past 4 seasons I can say that I believe you have a very good player in Papy Mendy. We are sorry to see him and Hatim Ben Arfa go after last season's 4th placed finish :-( Overall he is a solid defensive midfielder, breaking up the opposition play well, and bags of energy. I think I read recently that he had more touches than any player in Ligue 1 last season, indeed playing for a team that sometimes achieved 800 passes in a single match. We literally pass the opposition to death sometimes ;-) He is still learning his trade though but should develope even further with Leicester under the stewardship of Ranieri who will know Mendy from his time at AS Monaco. I can only remember one bad game for Mendy, when everything he did was a complete disaster i.e. not making a single successful pass, but can forgive him that one after 3 years of near perfection. He quietly gets on with it and delivers, and has been part of a very collective team at Nice, who really play for each other. He should fit in well at Leicester. I hope he gives to you what he has given to us down here in the South of France, and good luck to Leicester in repeating their heroics of last season :-) .... All of France was really behind you last season !
