Hi all, as a season ticket holder at OGC Nice for the past 4 seasons I can say that I believe you have a very good player in Papy Mendy. We are sorry to see him and Hatim Ben Arfa go after last season's 4th placed finish :-(

Overall he is a solid defensive midfielder, breaking up the opposition play well, and bags of energy. I think I read recently that he had more touches than any player in Ligue 1 last season, indeed playing for a team that sometimes achieved 800 passes in a single match. We literally pass the opposition to death sometimes ;-)

He is still learning his trade though but should develope even further with Leicester under the stewardship of Ranieri who will know Mendy from his time at AS Monaco. I can only remember one bad game for Mendy, when everything he did was a complete disaster i.e. not making a single successful pass, but can forgive him that one after 3 years of near perfection. He quietly gets on with it and delivers, and has been part of a very collective team at Nice, who really play for each other. He should fit in well at Leicester.

I hope he gives to you what he has given to us down here in the South of France, and good luck to Leicester in repeating their heroics of last season :-) .... All of France was really behind you last season !

Similar to the praises of Ngolo when he joined from Caen fans.

One things for sure if we do hold on to Kante we are going to absolutely devastating next season

can just imagine it...Drinky quick pass to N"Golo, Kante turns gets by one defender and sends the ball on to Mendy, Mendy looking at the quick ball over the top to a driving Vardy finds him between two defenders Vardy stops the ball on a dime and the defenders run past. Vardy recovers first and gets to the ball he takes a look nudges the ball to his left and fires a scorcher in to the top left hand corner. GGGOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!

Looks a stocky lad in the training photos. Very happy with this. Looks like he has taken number 24. Hernandez Number 3.

Only 2 players completed more passes in Europe’s top 5 leagues last seasons than Nampalys Mendy.(2717)

Safe to say we might be looking to keep a wee bit more possession this season.

We should notify Spurs immediately. That's the sort of thing that wins people over

In the official website LCFC.com. 200 times = three seasons?

I know it's impossible.

Meant to be a 100, blame the LCFC media department.

Nampalys Mendy: “Ranieri knows how to make me improve.”

Leicester City’s brand new defensive midfielder Nampalys Mendy discussed his move to the Premier League champions in an interview with L’Équipe. Highlights.

On his first impressions of Leicester:

My first impressions are very good. Everyone came to me to aid me in settling in. It allows me to get my bearings quicker even if I do not speak the language well and that I am, for now, the only Frenchman here. I cannot wait for the entire squad to return and to get to my English lessons.

In terms of the facilities, it is different to Nice. They have more resources. It makes a difference notably in terms of the level of the gym!

On reuniting with Claudio Ranieri:

Our initial reunion went well. I was able to have my first discussion with him and he immediately put me at ease. He was happy to see me again and vice versa. He played a big part in me coming to Leicester.

He knows me and he knows how to improve me. He knew how to do that perfectly at Monaco. He is the same person, loyal to himself and always joyful. Even if he is pernickety and demanding when it comes to work.

On his ambitions:

I want to first prove that I can play and succeed in the Premier League. As a group, I want to help the club to stay on the run that it is on and therefore to win titles.

On following N’Golo Kanté’s footsteps & playing for France:

To play for the French national team, it is certainly a dream. But in my way of advancing, I am focusing solely on my work and on the pitch. The rest is not an obsession. For me, only work counts. And if your work is supposed to pay off, it will pay off.

Started humming manilows'mandy' after learning about the signing and my little boy asked what I was humming. Showed him youtube of song and he started to come up with alternative lyrics. I see other have but for what's its worth here's his effort:

Oh Mendy.

You came, to Leicester, for your tackling

In case we give the baaall away..

Oh Mendy.

You intercepted, and stopped them from scoring.

And we neeed you to play

Oh Mendy.

Thanks for the info. I don't doubt that he's a very good player. If our scouts want him, then chances are he is. I can't wait to see him play.

I have to say I doubt that anyone has actually killed anyone by kicking a football around, though.

Said it loads and so has Ranieri, but not many seem to listen... He isn't a Kante replacement, differently type of player, which is why I'm concerned about shipping more goals this season. I watched the season review last week and didn't quite realise how goals he was actually involved in from intercepting the ball and making the first pass. Massive loss, but Drinky seems to be trying to fill his boots in preseason, full of energy and aggression.

I think I said I believe Drinky will be our closest to a direct Kante replacement.

I know people (myself included) are excited by prospect of Vardy Musa partnership up front but I feel Shinj is going to have an important role linking midfield and attack while Amarity or Mendy stop anything going through the middle of the park.

If Mendy is as good at passing as seems to be suggested I'm thinking rather than fast interceptions and breaking forward like Kante, Mendy will be distributing to our faster players and hanging back more.

Eitherway it'll take time for these new players (and since we didn't see much of Amarity last   Season I'll include him in that category too) to gel and we need to see what influence they will have on the way we play.
