I must be working class then. I never heard of those.
Balj Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Been a fan since the early 70's (Keith Weller tights and all that) - as an Indian fan (and we did the whole Baby Squad/Wongs thing 20-30 years ago) I've never experienced the twattishness I've seen over the past few months. We are a wonderful city in the middle of a wonderful spell of footballing history - lets enjoy it folks.
yorkie1999 Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 I blame the anti-bullying campaigns that have been going off for the last 15 years, all it does is breed lippy chavs who don't know when to keep it shut and don't know their place.
Darkon84 Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 I've not read through the whole topic, but there were more than a few morons drinking in The Torch before the game, chucking bottles from the inside, towards our own fans on the outside, throwing cans at passers by and police, and not to mention trying to pull down the metal barriers....FROM THE INSIDE. I know a lot of Foxestalkers were in there too, so I reckon it's time to name and shame.

That's why it's the greatest sport in the world- it captures the imagination of people from every sort of background, whether that be financial, geographical or religious. You just have to accept it. No point thinking less of the prawn sandwich brigade enjoying the game from the comfort of the posh seats. No point looking down your nose at the group of working class lads celebrating a goal by going mental and ending up on the deck. It's everyone's game, embrace it. It really isn't the greatest sport in the world.

Sadly it's not unique to Leicester city, the thread and comments talk like we are the only ones with a mouthy idiots. The Man U fans had their fair share of pricks on Sunday, like the 10 blokes in their 30's somethings, that set about 1 18 year old Leicester fan on the tube. The mouthy little pricks that came into the Leicester area of pubs, chanting and looking for trouble. Sadly it's more to do with soft society we live in now adays, punishment, or lack of it's the problem. We as a country have been soft on crime, and breed a culture of not fearing the consequence's of their actions, as there is none, if they are unlucky they get a slap on the wrist, in the form of a fine or ban.

r9spw Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 We sat in block 502 and got to our seats around 3:40, all our T-Shirts had been taken by some kind supporter. I've written to the club to see if they have any spares. With regards some of the supporters who go to away games, we went Man Utd last season and for the whole 90 minutes had to put up with 2 people behind who constantly slated the opposition and at one point shouted to break Rooney's @£&%#} leg. It was not a pleasant trip and there was at least 4 under 10's who sat near us that had to listen to the constant swearing and abuse. It has really put me off going to away games in the future.

I totally accept what your saying in your post, barring the last bit. I have took my kids from a young age, accepting they would hear bad language, in chants and fans rants. Not being disrespectful, but if this upsets you or puts you off, I would give it a miss, bad language and the odd rant has been part and parcel of football, even before my childhood, if anything it's probably a lot more family friendly home or away, than it's ever been.

ARM1968 Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 BBQ'd prawns on the Costs Brava, L'Escala, and a bucket of sangria. Nice. Off to some snotty French place tomorrow that grows lavender. Hay ho.
murphy Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 I think every club has it's share of bell end fans. I mean, I'm a City fan and I'm a massive nobhead.
ciderman Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 I always take my young kids pub pre match. Every time it's full of inconsiderate folk drinking alcohol/smoking/ and using language I don't like. As a family club we should have a zero tolerance to alcohol and smelly people. Bernie would be first on my list, he should be put down for the sake of us proper fans.
Vacamion Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 Whilst it isn't "nice", and it should stay in the ground, not on the train, and deffo not at 80 year old opposition fans (sheesh), swearing at football isn't new. As a little 'un in the late 70s and early 80s, I heard plenty of choice language on the terrace, and in chants, as well as a song about Frankie Wortho yagging his team mate's missus. Whilst the world has moved on, I think the difference is that people have got a bit more sensitive because they expect a smooth "customer experience" rather than the rough and tumble of real life reflected inside the stadium. If you are going to complain about fellow fans's behaviour, you should also complain about the way people in general conduct themselves outside of football. You'll struggle to change either, so you should learn to live with it or keep out of its way.
tyfox Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 I encourage my kids to join in with the swearing and I'm teaching them how to shit in the sink too
foxychik Posted 9 August 2016 Posted 9 August 2016 I know this is a moan in about how sh*tty some of our fans were on Sunday but I'd like to post something positive. i was speaking to one of my suppliers today who had a managed to bag a couple of tickets through another client for the club Wembley seats, the guy is a spurs fan ... bear with me He took his son who has autism and was distressed by the height of the seats, the stewards offered to reseat them but did they want to sit with Leicester or Man U fans? . The answer was no question the Leicester fans!! They got moved near the front and his boy loved it the fans nearby were 'fantastic', 'really friendly', 'much better than Spurs fans', 'I can't believe what a great bunch of people and wow the fans got behind the team when you went behind', 'it's not like that at white hart lane', 'how easy is it to get tickets at Leicester?', so my question was has it converted you ? 'Yes it possibly has' I did try to say we were a bit subdued... it's not all negative folks

It's a poor City, horrendous town centre and a large amount of poor housing estates. With that, you are going to get a high percentage of people who haven't got much of a brain and it's quite evident when you go to the football in Leicester or away games. I find it fascinating at away games that a certain percentage haven't even got enough brain to actually cope with reading their ticket and finding their allocated seat number and sitting in it. Its like people have been let out for the day and although sometimes amusing watching the animals drooling from the side of their mouths, you sometimes have to be on your guard. Went to Cov years back when someone was sitting in our seats, he started bouncing up and down wanting a fight when I stood there too and kindly asked him to move. He and his family didn't have the ability to find their own seats and you needed a bath when you got home from standing so close to them until they moved on. It really is like a day out with the lower class, but as Leicester is a shit hole you can understand why. I went to a Brighton game last season, away at Rotherham and you could really tell the difference between their fans and ours. Whereas we have lots of overweight, mouthy, smelly supporters who can't string a sentence together, they looked cleaner, better dressed, less obese and you could tell they came from a better area. So I am not atall shocked that you saw grown men steal others t-shirts. I am not shocked either that Leicester fans pick fights with Leicester fans. I am not shocked with racist comments. When you go to a Leicester away game it is really a case of taking your chances with the uneducated. Not being harsh, you see it all the time, and if you can't you are probably one of them. I come from a middle class area of Leicester and a family that was more into the Tigers. I would never say such an arrogant thing about our city, I find it disgusting that you make such generalisations. Some of my closest friends grew up on housing estates and they are hard working polite and decent human beings. My dad took me to Leicester vs Leeds in 94/95 and we sat in the kop, I was 8. I loved everything about it and have gone down ever since. I am proud of our fans and our people and always will be. The social mobility of football has always been one of the best things about it. You meet all types of people and we see guys who grew up with nothing becoming superstars, society should welcome this just like it would a young entrepreneur who made a popular app and made a fortune, but society particularly the elite have a problem with that social mobility. let me guess, you dislike chavs from council estates who get into fights and drink too much? Like our star striker used to be ay? People change. get a grip.
