Claudio and the 40pts (rhetoric)

Recommended Posts

Again Claudio this morning/last night, kept to the 40pts scenario.

1st goal,40pts then and according to when ,we can then expand our targets...

I believe is a good enforced view point or platform to start from....

Adding  and not forgetting, he said we should be now looking for improvement,

and the fans should expect  and dream of more..

Clever  stance or....???

He was actually talking about Mahrez and his driving licence. Wants him  to keep it below 40 points this year

I'm all for starting small and working up, when it comes to goal setting. We all know where we *want* to go - but there are many pitfalls, hurdles, traps, etc. to avoid before we can get there.

Claudio just plays with the media with his doddery, grandad schtick. Deadly serious, driven and intelligent behind the scenes but has journalists feeding from his hand. Complete opposite to Nige who was a top man behind the scenes but a complete cvnt to the hacks.

Remember when we got 39 points from the first half of the season and he said he wanted us to get one point more in the second half and we actually went and did it. the absolute mad men.

After last season over achievement, keeping fans expectations low is a priority.

We have to accept that it took our whole history to achieve what we did last year, and may never happen again.

The problem is some fans will expect us to win every week, but it's not likely to happen, and I just hope, when things are not going our way, the fans remain patient.

The owners have a long term plan, and after two years in the premier league, it's about cementing our position as a solid premier league side, and eventually being regular top 6.

We don't want to set expectations too high, but lets face it, expectations have risen. I think he should add 10 points, 50 points as a starting target.

We don't want to seem over confident, but don't want to seem too modest either with our capability.

Think you have a point there, for me I'm having to control the excitement of what we could achieve this season, without expecting us to win every game.

As last seasons champions, teams are going to probably sit in more, and I can see some frustrating games coming up.

But 50 points is a fair target, with European football, anything else is a bonus, don't expect us to challenge for the title, but didn't last season.

What a great time to be a city fan.
