FFP Irregularities popping up again?

Recommended Posts

There's no correlation between winning the Premier League and "cheating" our way through FFP. With our resources and our squad we should have been nowhere near the top 6 last season, never mind win the league.

FFP is a load of rubbish anyway. Clubs like Man City still spend millions every year. They get off because they can afford to pay the fine.

It's not about the Premier League, but the last season in the Championship. The worse thing that will happen is the Football League will impose a fine.

I know but they started the article:

Leicester City’s dash to an unlikely Premier League title is billed as football’s most romantic story in a generation but the Football League is still investigating the club’s 2013/14 promotion season amid strong concerns from other clubs they may have cheated financial fair play rules

... Regardless of our Championship season there's no need to bring the PL into it.

Pretty sure this is a re-hash of an article from last year or the year before. Nothing new apart from the updated title of the article. Clearly we've mugged them off but any diddling has been done within the loopholes in the rules or cleverly enough to avoid detection.

If they are still investigating this over at the Football League then they need to give it up, clearly nothing is forthcoming, and they should be spending their time on people who are clearly doing wrong like Cellino, Duchatelet and Oyston, who are currently running amok.

As others have said, if there was really something they could punish us for they'd have put something in motion right now. It was quite clear at the time that we'd fiddled things through this interstellar company but as long as we didn't break any rules at the time then who cares? The FL have more pressing issues tbh

Surely Derby will fail FFP this year also?

Exactly this.  PSG and Man City were fined the year they won the league does that mean they cheated?

It's only popped up again as someone on a trade site has rehashed something from last year and linking it to last season. How would you even come across a site like that?  From a business point of view why would people even need to use a site/middle men like these when clubs have PR/business departments.

I don't get how they have called it a strange rise to the top?  We were top of the Championship from Boxing day till the end of the season because we played well, not because of anything accountants did.  All the money has came out of the owners very deep pockets, unlike clubs like Portsmouth, QPR etc who owed their money to banks.

Forgive me if this has been posted before but this is a good read with what looks like some other club in the championship which wishes to remain anonymous calling us cheats without using the word but calling it financial doping instead !!

either way it's an interesting read !

Bloody Burnley again

It doesn't get reported that we barely signed anyone that season due to striving to comply with FFP. We signed Bakayogo and Dean Hammond all summer much to the fans dismay. Only after the season wore on did we sign Wasyl, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Kevin Phillips on free transfers. We signed Mahrez in the January for about £400,000. Anyway, when you look at what other clubs did that season (Forest, QPR etc) then we haven't really got much to worry about. It does sound like we've found a loophole and exploited it, but is it illegal?
