Clever Fox Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 Overall a very poor performance. But I'll give Sam the benefit of it being is first time to see players perform for England instead of their Clubs. But it's quite simple the Manager needs to decide the system based on the players available, then pick and work with the players to suit the system. Too many players where playing off the cuff, No leadership on the field. Rooney is not a Captain. Henderson needs a rocket up the Ass to get him playing. Walker never once beat the last man with a ball. He even huged the touchline when he should have been getting int position on the back post as most decent crosses came from the left. Too many sq and backward passes with no momentum. Sam will need to take some media advice as he was caught out last night. I could go on but Dinner calls.
Jon the Hat Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 Wasn't going to judge Sam, but that comment on Rooney was ****ing pathetic. This from the guy who has spent 20 years telling us he is up to the top job then comes out with that. Jesus.
ARTY_FOX Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 England are just so boring. Every time they bothered to come forward with 10 men and we won it back it was just shit slow sideways passing until they got into the box. We just passed it around the 18 yard libe playing right into their hands failing to take advantage of the extra man. If that's what the all mighty style of possession football is all about I never ever want to see it down at the kp. It's ****ing woeful, boring and unimaginative. Once again it's the same system with the same players that's failed time and time again and people believe the manager is picking the team? No way is Jordan Henderson in any international team let alone England's if he doesn't play for liverpool. How he managed to scam his way to them in the first place I don't know.

Even if that's the case don't tell the general public that.
WigstonWanderer Posted 5 September 2016 Posted 5 September 2016 I'd like to see a rule that no player is included in the squad unless they are playing regularly for their club first team. That way players have a choice to either hang around on the fringes of a "big club" or knuckle down at a smaller club and show what they can do. I.e. The exact opposite of what happens now.
purpleronnie Posted 7 September 2016 Posted 7 September 2016 Greg's seen sense...or the writing on the wall. England's target of winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has been scrapped by new Football Association chairman Greg Clarke. Quote I'm not going to put pressure on and say we are going to win this tournament or that tournament Nice vote of confidence in big Sam.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 7 September 2016 Posted 7 September 2016 https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/sep/07/wayne-rooney-sam-allardyce-england-world-cup-qualifying Hilarious summary of the whole situation. Particularly: Quote Finally, new FA chairman Greg Clarke offered his thoughts on the old chairman’s monument: the actual clock Greg Dyke had installed at St George’s Park which counts down to the day – the hour – when England win the World Cup in 2022. Think of it as the Greg Stone. His successor Clarke declared witheringly “These things are a joke”, before undoing all that good realism and speculating that Rooney might well wish to un-pre-retire and keep playing for England beyond the 2018 World Cup

If a side wants to improve their rankings then they ought to do a Belgium and play loads of shit teams. Think they got to number one for a while.
