Ron Combo Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 The main thing now is that Malta tonk Scotland 1-0 with a goal that's clearly offside and we can all sleep happy.
Tielemans63 Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 I would be much more supportive if it was a level playing field and players were picked on form. While players are picked for commercial reasons I can't have anything but disdain for the whole set-up. It has to be a meritocracy if we are ever to be successful again but I don't think it is. The likes of ****ing Adidas, Nike, Sure and ****ing Nivea have too much influence in selection- how else do you explain the inclusion of the likes of Henderson, Sturridge and Walcott? People might site their international experience but it's not like any of them have ever really made a big impression in international football and none of them have played that well for their clubs in the last 12 months. Why should they be automatic picks?

Some of you need to cut him a bit of slack and not let this Spurs/Leicester thing cloud your judgement. But nothing changed, it was as if Roy never left. That is cause for concern even with it being only his first game

filbertway Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Glad some of you lot aren't Polish. A+E would be very busy tonight.
Matt Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Urgh, bore off with the winter break. How many foreign players play in England? Do they seem to struggle? The winter games here are tradition, one of very few left in the game, take my Christmas games away and I really won't happy. Besides, we're only ****ing 3 games into the season, they've had a bleeding summer break, they were still shit tonight.

Try or not try, you can't complain when minnows sit back, how often have we played for the counter and lacked possession. Even when they had 10 men, how often did we test there keeper, we hit the post once and fluffed a few.....not good enough But our inability to finish our chances does not mean they 'deserved a draw' It was poor, but we created enough chances in the final 10-15 minutes to deserve the win. Im not saying we were good by any stretch, we should have the ability to put these games to bed. It's a funny one, but I think the result was a fair 1 in the end, even if the performance was poor. Lallana the only player to come away from that with any praise, even before his goal. Cahill and Stones fairly solid, but barely tested.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 it would be a start to play players that aren't playing for the so called big teams... you know like Albrighton, noble, Antonio, drinkwater, shawcross etc...

If Raheem Sterling plays for WBA (which is about his level) or Theo Walcott plays for Palace then they wouldn't even get a look in. It's laughable.

This is about the current England side clearly not being good enough and there is no desire for it to change from within.
GingerrrFox Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 The winter break debate is a ****ing cop out. The players will still play the same number of games in the season and they will end up playing more mid week games, the fixtures will just be back logged towards the end of the season and then they will moan about too many games before the tournament starts. It's all bollocks.

foxes21 Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Atleast we aren't spurs fans. They have to watch a similar type of football week in week out

I've just thought of a good point to back this up actually. Townsend - Now I don't rate him anyway, but when he played for Spurs, he was a regular England selection...Has he been selected since moving to Newcastle and now Palace? Just looked, if the information is right, he's been selected for England twice since leaving Spurs, playing in 1 match, as a sub, for 14 minutes.
wurmer Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Until the team is picked on form, I'm not watching. That'll be never again the I guess.....

Jattdogg Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Honour to play for england? Maybe if you play for a "big" club. Id tell england to puck off and concentrate on a team that wants me and clearly recognizes my talents.

Then you go the other way and take John Stones for example, selected for England on a 10 occassions, played on 4 (One of those tonight). Moves to Man City, straight into the team. It's an example that can't be proved but i'm very confident that if Vardy had moved to Arsenal he'd have started tonight.
