foxforcefive Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 So it's my first post... And it's a new thread... And it's controversial.... And I've even included a clever pun in the title...but hear me out.... We have a midfield problem, especially in the Kante shaped hole, and we also arguably have too many strikers that we're going to struggle to keep happy...if only we could kill two birds with one stone....if only there was a striker in the squad whose strengths were harrying, pressing, limitless energy and an ability to steal the ball and lay it off simply, especially if his finishing and asists were a little below par....enter Okazaki.....the defensive midfielder to solve all our problems...you heard it here first. Granted he would need time to learn the position but worth trying in training at least surely.
Simo86 Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Plenty on here have suggested it already to be fair
sylofox Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Another Kante esk thread. Personally I would like to see more thinking inside the box (ours and our opposition's)

And tbh think a lot in here need to master thinking inside the box before they start trying to branch out.

filbertway Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 As a defensive player he'd at least be more likely to win free kicks when he falls over after someone touches him
Ric Flair Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 You could play 4-2-3-1 with Okazaki dropping back from the 3 attacking midfielders but in essence he already does that for large parts of games anyway so it's hardly revolutionary.
kingcarr21 Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 heard it hear first. there is a whole thread discussing this exact idea. Cant see it working im afraid

Like you say that's basically what we do anyway, but it's more like 4 defenders and 4 defensive midfielders with Okazaki playing just in front of the back 8.
Kitchandro Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 It's frightening to think this idea got two separate threads.
Nick Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 It's frightening to think a guy who can't tackle, pass or shoot without falling over might be considered as a DM.
Wymsey Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Andy King is the dark horse and should be considered more. He's not slow and knows the demands but just needs to man up more and get some tackles in.
lgfualol Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Shinji needs to start getting inside the box and scoring
yag101 Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 That seems outrageously awkward. No idea why no one's said it yet, why not play Albrighton in a three man midfield with two of Drinky, and Amartey and King? Edit: Although, it seems we pretty much already do that. But we should emphasise it more.
