FireFox Posted 11 November 2016 Posted 11 November 2016 Andy King: 5 tackles, 1 interception, 1 clearance. Only Fuchs did better (2, 3, and 8). 78.25 pass accuracy. Only Fuchs, Huth, and Gray did better. Was fouled 4 times... out of the 8 WBA committed. Oh, and actually had a shot on target, only other one of our players to was Slimani. But nah, he was our worst player, worse than Drinkwater who was garbage (for once this season), made an awful mistake costing us the game, and only then started to play well. Also worse than Simpson who did fvck all but is somehow ranked 3rd, higher than our goal scorer too!? Yeah, King maybe could have done better for the first goal, but he wasn't worse than average.
lgfualol Posted 11 November 2016 Posted 11 November 2016 Yea King's rating is so wrong. Okazaki, Vardy (even Ulloa for his 2 minute nothing display) and a few others did absolutely nothing at all and all got more.

I think King's rating is dictated by his truly awful first 10 minutes (caught in possession on the edge of the box leading to Zieler's save, 60/40 challenges lost, couple of stray passes)- I agree that there were worse players on the pitch over the 90 though. Simpson was excellent.

Hang on... I used stats the other week and you labelled me a Tottenham fan? King was bullied easily. Drinkwater has so much to do now. King rarely actually goes forward - he goes back all the time hence the high pass accuracy - Drinkwater was the only midfielder prepared to drive and play those 20 yard balls. To be bottom is harsh but he was very poor.
AKCJ Posted 11 November 2016 Posted 11 November 2016 Musa 4.86 is the one that sticks out as being harsh for me. He had Dawson on toast before Claudio absurdly took him off.

Drinkwater played more attacking balls but they were not very effective and in last 20 minutes I thought King was more of a threat than Drinkwater.
Koke Posted 11 November 2016 Posted 11 November 2016 Drinkwater was worse than King. He was shocking. But let's not pretend King wasn't bad either. He went missing yet again. Got bullied (yet again) and had very little impact on the game. He has high pass accuracy for the same reason Huth has high pass accuracy - they both pass it sideways and backwards. Our central midfield area is wank at the moment

Stats like: total team possession, total team pass accuracy, et cetera - yeah, I don't think they mean much. When one team attacks and when one defends most of the time but it ends up a draw (the Man City Middlesbrough game right?), then so what... The team that defended did enough to earn that draw despite the attacking team team having X possession and X pass completion, and the defending team's pass completion might be lower because they were trying riskier, more direct counter attacks. I'm using stats here comparing our players to one another. They are playing in the same system, even if in different roles. Quote King was bullied easily. Drinkwater has so much to do now. King rarely actually goes forward - he goes back all the time hence the high pass accuracy - Drinkwater was the only midfielder prepared to drive and play those 20 yard balls. But for the sake of it anyway: Drinkwater had 8 out of 18 accurate long balls. 89 total passes. King 4 out of 7 (and 1 out of 1 accurate through ball). 55 total. Fuchs 9 out of 15 (and 7 out of 7 accurate crosses). 69 total. So alright, King wasn't great going forward, he didn't attempt much, etc. And yes, Drinkwater "has so much to do now", but for this game he really didn't do anything meaningful, other than one pass that went backward. King might have been "bullied", but what do you expect him to be? Kante? He has never been that and never will, and he had a decent enough contribution despite being apparently bullied. Fyi, in case you forgot, it was King's long pass to Vardy that set up our goal. Slimani actually played a huge part in the build up to it too.

Nod.E Posted 11 November 2016 Posted 11 November 2016 How the holy fvck is Drinkwater not at the bottom trailing by at least 2 full points?

Not really bothered about totals and comparisons to other players. King was poor, bullied and had little impact on the game. The rest weren't great either but sometimes people approach it with some sort of blocked view just because he's been here through everything. No I don't expect him to be Kante but I expect a bit more to help Drinkwater out. Midfield has been an issue all season, opposition are just cutting through us again.

It's perfectly possible to do all of those things and still fail to track your man at crucial times, or make a run when the side's looking scarily static. I didn't think King was massively worse than anyone else's, but neither would I claim that his (or, perhaps, Amartey's) presence in the side this year - ahead of you-know-who's last year - was anything other than the single greatest factor in our decline. What surprised me about these ratings was Zieler. He pulled off a very decent save, maybe two, and wasn't really to blame for the goals - and yet he's ranked below Musa, who was completely negligible until about three minutes before he was subbed off. I also find it weird that Huth is above Morgan, and that Slimani is rated as one of our best performers, when his lack of movement was obviously a problem. Also, while we're all agreed that Vardy isn't his old self, there's little doubt that he helped inject a bit of life into the second half. So how come he's ranked lower than Musa or Okazaki? That means that not only one or two people, but a hundred or so who voted on here clearly didn't pay any attention whatsoever to the game. Or, that they've decided that Musa and Okazaki are alright, but Vardy isn't. I normally agree, more or less, with these ratings, but on this occasion they're a good way off. The one interesting observation, for me, is the low rating of Gray. I keep hearing that he takes every opportunity he's given but still gets denied a chance, and yet what I see is a player who looks awful when he starts, and in most of his subs appearances, and spends a lot of time complaining that he isn't picked ahead of - say - Mahrez or Albrighton. Or even Schlupp. All of which featured far, far more often than him in our best ever season. I can't help but feel that, if our problem is partly a psychological or attitude-based issue, than Gray is closer to being part of the problem than part of the solution. And do 15% of City fans actually think that Ranieri should go? I mean, just to see that feels a bit embarrassing.

Chico1958 Posted 13 November 2016 Posted 13 November 2016 Come on people they were all bad Move on Just one question on the King-Drinkwater debate Did we count the pass to Phillips as one of his accurate passes
